Very first time watching your video today January 5, 2022. I have to say I've watched hundreds on different subjects of the Philippines and yours is very succinct and good viewpoints and answered valid questions. Great job!
Oh my, I really like your house it's kinda simple but cute and definitely love the kubo and the garden! One day I will have my house and lot just like that cause I don't need Big space for just the two of us of my daughter, this inspired me more while watching your vlog about your new house! Thanks for sharing and yeah cool your tips are very true and exactly need to be share to everyone who needs to know.
Thank you for this. I am currently paying for a 200sqm lot too and am wondering about the floor size of my future house. Your video gave me an idea. You have a very nice location. So peaceful and relaxing.
Great one! Simplistic and frugal on your part to get yourself and your family satisfied! I, on the other hand, would love to have a Monolithic Dome house built when I retire around my paternal family's hometown near the plaza as I am already a dual, Fil-American citizen who is quite decent with the local language! That would hopefully spread awarness on efficient and thermodynamic designs for a house, not to mention being one of the most typhoon-resistant designs!
Great video! I've been thinking about retiring in the Philippines, and while my parents already have homes in Luzon, this video has made me want to look into buying land in Bohol. A side note: if you haven't already done so, you should check to see if Canada allows sanguine dual citizenship. I've recently reacquired my Philippine citizenship as a Naturalized American because both my parents were Filipinos when I was born. I think this should work to your favor if your mother was a Filipino citizen when she gave birth to you. If this is the case, it's one way to pass through becoming a resident and leapfrog into citizenship. Anyway, thanks for this video!
Thanks. That’s great. Bohol is a good place to buy but please note the prices here are much higher than many island in PH. As for the citizenship. I’m working on it but the problem is my mom was no long Filipino citizen at my birth. Fingers crossed.
Nice house! Also, one of the most important thing to consider is make sure that the contractor is legitimate (has a business permit) and they execute a contract before you pay them to build your dream house. There are a lot of contractors out there that are just happy to take your money but fails on executing the project. You may also ask for a retention fee (you pay the last 10% of building cost after a year to cover for defects).
i doubt you can find anyone who will allow you to pay 10% a year later. most strong good quality builds i have seen didnt use a contractor or a plan drawn by an outsider, the owner just hires a few guys and does it himself working along side the crew and supervising everything all day. most times researching by the owner the proper way to do rebar, best concrete mix ratios etc . and the best way to do things in an earthquake and typhoon prone area on the internet. then you KNOW what you are getting and are sure to not be disappointed years later. many expats will share with each other their experience and what to look out for and best practices.
Thanks for sharing my friend, I appreciate the information you shared on this video. Am married to a Filipina and we own some land in Bohol and wanting to start building in the Philippines once the pandemic is over. Your info was very helpful.
That’s awesome. Glad I could help. Let me know if there is anything else you’re curious about as you get closer to building and I’ll try to answer as best I can.
Thanks for the video. New subscriber here. I' m married to a Filipina from Bohol/ Talibon. We live in Ireland at moment but my dream is to build a house in the Philippines and live there after I'm retired. Looking forward to get more advice an information. Take care. All the best.
I'm from NY, USA. I also bought lot in the Philippines, 254 square meters, I love your video coz you gave me an idea. I'm thinking of copying your house too. 😀
Imagine waking up to that piece of heaven every morning. 🥺 I’m so jealous, I wish I could just buy a house and move there. I was born there 😂😅 but migrated to Canada at the age of 12. I love it here, just not fond of winter lol. Plus I miss the Philippines. You have a beautiful house, I love how everything is white. No neighbours, the greenery, etc. 😍
We built a house in Leyte Palo. My wife is Filipino. Its a little bigger than this one with a..Dirty Kitchen out back. Its also built of some modified reenforced stilts. Her sister lives there now. We will be moving from the USA in 3 months. I plan to fish a lot. Her brother has a nice boat.
Bohol is very very nice But I'm sad after typhoon Odette is came there.Plants and houses was damaged.. Hope electricity will back again. Nice house sir .thanks for sharing your videos. Stay safe
That's a lovely place to retire. Congrats and enjoy your all year round nice weather in the Phil. Minus the typhoon season. But over all, it's a lovely place to live if you have work and money. Good luck. 🥰🥰
Man, hopefully you plant big trees (like Narra) around your property. Typhoons entering the country are getting nastier every year. But beautiful house overall! 🙌🏽 2:15 and where’d you get that sink??
i thought this was going to show the proper way to do rebar and talk about how to find hollow blocks that dont crumble in your hands or the proper mix of crushed rock and sand in concrete ratios or how to find workers that will follow correct procedures when building etc...
Beautiful house! So simple but cute and functional. I’m British but my parents are dual citizens living in Manila. They have a plot in Tagaytay and a house in Manila. I could get my Filipino citizenship back since I was born in PI. Would this make it easier regarding future house ownership for me? Thanks!
If your parents are Filipino citizens at the time of your birth, you can apply for dual citizenship, no need to renounce your British citizenship. You'd be a full citizen and can do pretty much everything that locals can.
Make sure the roof is attached properly because of the separation on the top area of the roof, myself I like a full roof, going downward on each end. Because the wind will not pick it up easily. Nice house and I’m also from Canada 🇨🇦 living in the Philippines 🇵🇭. Just my opinion my two cents thanks for sharing this video.
Beautiful, i wanted to have a house in the province when I get 40, specially in bohol, its not as congested as cebu and still has many trees. I'm turning 32 this year...hope this dream will come true.
Hi Sir Mik Bok, i read your message about your interest in having a house in province, would like to ask if i can present our project porfolio listing located here in metro manila, we have very very affordable projects that im sure you'll be interested. Thank You for your time in reading my message. Looking forward for your reply. Regards
Congratulations, simply wonderful. I wish you the BEST of luck, for your parent's and also for your own new house. Please share more videos… Thanks, Allen, for sharing, full support already and best regards/Ned 🤞🏠🤞
Best to build a solid poor concrete with rebar reinforcement but weld the rebar also same with the roof. Best way to survive the typhons here. Cost more but cheaper than starting all over after a typhoon.also add solar system so not to deal with brown outs and the high prices for electric power bill's.
@@BoholisAwesome off grid Solar System was the best investment I have ever made, at present I have a 6 kilowatts off grid system love it soon will be adding another 6 kilowatts then I will add more air conditioner and air compressor.
Really cool buddy. I'm not sure about Canada but here in the us my wife was still a Filipino citizen when she had our kids so the kids can get duel citizen here in the USA free just some paperwork. Just some food for thought. Enjoy brother!!!
Keep up the good videos... my wife is Filipina, and we are building a house in Bohol... much smaller than I wanted, but it should be an OK house. If you don't mind me asking, how much was that house, and did you have it built, or did you build it yourself?
Nice house! Oh, I hope you guys were not affected by Odette. I love, love , love Bohol I spent most of my summer vacations growing up in Jagna, Bohol. I have a lot of relatives there. I made a video from my last visit in 2018. Hoping to be back this year. Thanks for sharing your lovely home. Happy new year!
Sorry for the small criticism, but only if you believe on these kinds of stuff. Otherwise, nice house. I noticed the feng shui of your home is bad, with your front door directly facing the stairs.
Haha. Yeah I understand. Long story short, the door was supposed to be in a different place because it was supposed to be a loft. Then half way through construction we changed the plans to have a private upstairs. Moved the outside door, put in walls upstairs etc. That’s why it’s a weird front entrance 🤙
Nice tips and you have a wonderful house. Watching here in Oman but I'm from bohol. I'm supporting your channel fully packed. Hope to see you soon. Your enthusiasm will be highlighted.
New subscriber!_ love your vid. Concise, to the point and good details. When I can eventually travel there I will move there as another base to invest and explore beautiful Philippines. Looking forward to meeting you to. Thanks much!
Hi Sir Peter, Good Day, i have read your message about investing properties here in the Phils. Would like to know if we can present to you our listing of project portfolios located here in Metro Manila. Thanks and Regards
Hi it's fun to hear about your build..My Philippine wife and I had a house built in Dauis too, right on the National Hwy..We chose a rather large lot and had a huge wall built around the property...It was fun living there for almost two years but we made a baby and I felt it was time to move back to Arizona..We made some money on the house,,thankfully and we live in my state of Arizona..We have two kiddos now ages 11 and 17..Good luck I will keep up with you Bob Oh We sold in 2006
Thank you showing the lot size. Appreciate it. I'm from Bicol region and we are always hit by the typhoon. We build a slab roof for my parents due to the concerns roof will be gone every super typhoon. My brother is an architect and he said it's not recommended to have metal roof w/ metal (connect/attach) because it's not strong (hold) with strong winds. By constant moving of the roof it will unscrew and wood is better as long as long as it's nailed property. It was proven during Reming and seen it. If you have a glass window made sure to cover it w/ plywood. The one i had seen good window is the colonial type.
@@BoholisAwesome Those type of yours are the new style of roof today. Some of the builders now thinks where the sun rise or sun down and the flow of the winds during typhoon seasons. You have a beautiful house.
Flat roof will never go away make sure it is slander for the water to run. Concrete with rods would be stronger than a wood and galvanize sheet metal. My house is Veranda roof top flat with table and chairs but the problem with that is prone for leak. I did have a leak during the 10 years period.
Hello and thank you for this video. We are also looking to build, but have three different couples (friends) who have been scammed by contractors. How do we know when they are legitimate? Maybe we can hire your friend to design our home and build it?
Welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭 The majestic land. Full of hospitality and polite people 🤩 thank you for choosing philippines to build your dream house here. You’re welcome here!!! Now your officially Part of Heart of The Filipinos 💝💕 KEEP SAFE MY FRIEND ENJOY YOUR LIVING HERE☺️
Great video.. Beautiful house and good location… I am from Bohol too , Lila.. great to find your yt channel.. God bless.. my Canadian husband wants to build a simple vacation house in Lila , that way we won’t stay in the hotel for a month that costs so much…
U Gotta make sure those roof were built solid tough bro,,all of the Philippines has more than dozens of catastrophic natural disasters, a substandard building materials might not withstand earthquake and super typoon.
Nice house. It's not too big and plenty of room from the looks of it. I hope you don't mind me asking about how much is the lot and how much to build the house. I know it's different depend on the area, but it's nice to have some idea. Thanks!
One very important thing that you might want to consider is that the area or the lot should be flood-free or access to the place should not go through serious flooding during the rainy or stormy days.
A small lot, tucked in a beautiful spot and a very attractive design! We will be building on a lot near Anda...appreciate your ideas. Im glad you showed the garden, it really shows the spirit of your place!
I'm viewing this video in Q4 of 2024, because I retired early in the States and going to Philippines to live out the rest of my life. I have to note that I really like the style of your home. I too would like to buy a small piece of land preferably in an agricultural type area and build me a tiny home. First things first though, I need to apply for my Dual citizenship for I am a Philippine born. Thank you for sharing your tips with us.
Congrats on your house build. Just saw your channel. I have been to Bohol and biked around the island 2 times over the years and I liked the island. Enjoy. Security and reliable utilities would be my concern.
Hi Robert, sure you can reach out to me on Instagram the name is boholisawesome. At the moment because of the recent typhoon he will be busy for a long time.
Hola! My Filipina wife and I bought land and are working with a local engineer/architect who has good experience and references. I'm curious why it is uncommon to use insulation on the walls over there. It seems that it is only used in the ceiling. Doesn't that cause your electric bills to be higher because of the A/C running more? TIA
Love it the ambiance and location of your paradise far from pollution and calm. Love the sorrounding of being with green leaves😍💖. New friend around here☺😍💖🎄🎄🎄
@@BoholisAwesome How did it hold up to the typhoon? Ours (traditional style with hollow-block walls 1-meter high...TOTALLY leveled except for the bathroom that was full hollow-block. FLAT...in Ubay area.
Nice video of your house build, love your space up stairs, question what about the surrounding lots can someone buy it and build take away that beautiful view? Thanks for sharing.
