I absolutely loved Bohol/Panglao/Dauis, just a gorgeous island! Your home is really nice. I like how you kept it simple and very practical and functional. I’m hoping to retire to Philippines some day with my wife and would like to invest in land as well. Thanks for the insight. Also from Canada!
You inspired me to move in Philippines. Work hard for few years and after save money ,go there and make my life easier and more efficient and more beautiful!!!!
Loving the fence a lot. Beautiful home and lot for reasonable price. September 2021, finished building in Taytay, Rizal up on a hill with Laguna de bay view, Bonifacio Global City view, Makati skyline view. Lot is only 150 sq m, 2 units of 60 sq m each top of one another. Ground floor for my husband (kano) and I (pinay) and top floor for our all around personal assistant (driver, cook, cleaning, shopping) My husband and I are senior citizens so we needed help. Don't know when we could go and live on it because of pandemic. Take care!
Hi Alan, just came across your YT channel and I must say, I love your vlogs not because I am a pure Boholana but because they keep me abreast with what is going around my beloved home province of Bohol especially after typhoon Odette as I have not been able to visit home since 2019 due to work here in Manila and then this pandemic came. Your 2M grand total house is fair enough considering that Dauis/Panglao are major tourist destinations in the country. Months or few years from now, I think you will be having some neighbors because of the nice and serene location. Stay safe anyhow.
Great video! Both of my parents came to Canada from the Philippines before I was born. I'd love to sell my house near Toronto and go there to retire. Your plan seems very affordable!
I applaud you for choosing the Philippines to build your new life. You are a good and positive image of foreigners in the Philippines. Again I hope that there are more foreigners like you that will reside in the Philippines. We have been here since 2016 from San Francisco. And we paid 1 million Pesos for our two bedroom Log cabin in a one hecteria mangoe farm in San Juan Batangas Close to Laiya beach. We are seniors and we love living the easy lay back life in the Philippines. Oh wait, we are now planning to build a three bedroom guest house we estimate the cost to be around two million pesos. 🇵🇭🤔Just a note we purchased the one hecteria farm back in year 2005 for 800,000 pesos. My wife and I was still working in San Francisco then. But we decided to borrow the money to buy the land. Best decision we ever made.
Hello I came across your page while searching for remote work to live in Philippines and I was wondering if you have any remote work me and my gf can get into even if we’re making below 1k a month , I was wanting to move so I could train martial arts to fight professionally and to also get away from the toxic lifestyle of where were living so I’m taking the leap but just need a way to make usd if possible please let me know it would be a blessing and we can set up a video call or I could send my email for you to get to know me more because I understand it'll be hard to make a decision under a youtube comment to see if we’re the right fit to work with you
Hi Alan, your 2 videos of your property has motivated me to check out Bohol. I want to take my wife back to my motherland and show her Panglao island. I have already taken her to Boracay Island. My mother has suggested Panglao Island next. I was born in CDO a stone throw away south from Bohol. I envy you and your family right now. My wife is a sun worshipper and she loves the Philippines. Stay safe and keep sharing your love of the Bohol.
Thanks for this. Soon to be building a house for our family in SW Negros Oriental and it's hard to get a good idea of the real numbers for the cost of building and finishing a home. Especially things like landscaping, water, power, towers, fence, etc. Appreciate you.
I love that it's secluded and surrounded by greenery. Just out of curiosity, did you opt out of drilling a water well because of your proximity to the ocean? Also, I suppose if you are at close proximity to grid power, it is worth the $1K spent to obtain your source of electricity that way. I have heard that "brownouts" are common occurrence in PH, but nothing that a back up power set up can't fix. Thanks again for bringing us this awesome content. Cheers!
Awesome place man, i too have found myself having to move here without planning to due to a series of unforeseen events… seeing someone make it here is encouraging
Out Of All The Videos From Philippines You Sir Are Number One Allan From Canada Number One You Are The Best You Are The Best Speaker !!!My Phillipina Wife Says What You Say Is Amazing !!! 67 Years From Boston Married Cebu 2007 TruckDriver Since 1987 Labatt Blue Canadian Pilsener Breakfast Retire Soon Bohol !!!
Love your channel my fellow Canadian! Thanks for being transparent on the cost of your awesome home. My wife lives near Talibon, Bohol. I hope to build a house in this beautiful province in the near future.
My girlfriend and I will start building our house in mindoro sometime next year. We also just got a 200sqm lot approx 200 meters from the beach in San teodoro for 240,000 pesos or 1,200 per square meter. We also have a good size bangka at the beach for fishing. We're hoping to build a house around 65-70sqm for somewhere in the range of a million pesos and just one floor. We'll also need to run water and electricity of course but there are other homes relatively close so hopefully it won't be too complicated but we'll see I guess. I liked your video, it was very informative and interesting to see a house with a similar footprint that we're interested in on the same size lot
Thanks for sharing. Who installed the water tower? After this typhoon, water storage is a must have.. we're also building in dauis.. You got a bargain for your 200 sq m lot.
Hi Alan, Congrats on your new home. Your videos are very well presented. You cover all the bases that help me consider my upcoming lot purchase and home build in Mindanao.
Hello Alan, Blessings from Vancouver, BC!🙏🇨🇦😇🇵🇭🙏Daghan Salamat for sharing your home project journey in Bohol where my Paternal Ancestors are from, an island of gentle hard-working Boholanos/Bol-anons very well known for their hospitality & kindness! We hope to get connected sometime when we visit my Uncle’s family residing in Dauis too.Bohol is always in our family vacation destination because of it’s world class white beaches much more now when the international airport is fully operational. What a blessing!Congratulations on your great achievement most especially the way you have taken cared of your parents’ wellbeing by allowing them to enjoy their retirement in comfort & serenity in your new home.🙏😇🏡😇🙏
Hello again Allen That was a very interesting video about the cost to build a house in the Philippines, with some great tips! Thank you so much for sharing and best regards/Ned 🤞🏠🤞
My wife's brother is a builder and convinced me not to pay for plans etc. What a mistake that was... A direct hit from Typhoon Odette ripped off half the roof and has already cost me over 100,000 to repair. I now am looking to get blue prints made up so as to be able to buy buildings insurance. Hope you have already bought yours. Lovely house you have... Thanks for sharing!
Maybe some Americans are doing some math in their head....yup, a 2152 sq ft lot. $12k, says it's doubled so $24k (sounded right to me). Just searched Zillow in western NY and similar sized lots sell for $6-10k with excellent access, water and power. I don't know about you but land prices in PH shocked me. Because rents are very cheap I assumed land prices would be on the same level. Nope. I've been looking for awhile now and see the same all over. On the plus side these tiny micro lots are available all over so total cost isn't much. On the downside a piggery could be built 6' from your backdoor. This type of market is common all over Asia. Property in the US is dirt cheap.
yeah I don't understand it, there is a 13 hectare property for sale near my wifes parents, all palm oil, they want more for it than it can make in the next 200 years?
Just subscribed to your channel and really enjoyed your video.Very beautiful place and love your layout 100%. Your home withstood the typhoon so I’m like you I’d be happy with your builders.Looking forward to more of your videos.God bless and take care. Happy New Year.
@@BoholisAwesome~ Great video! I have family on Bohol but didn't realize that there are so many nice places there per your other videos. How much would guesstimate that it would cost to build a house twice the size of this one? Thank You, much appreciated.
Great video! A lot of information for sure! Appreciate you sharing the costs. Why did you leave Canada and how long have you been gone for? It would be great to see a video about that. Have a great day!
I work remotely. Been traveling around the world for many years. Moved here to settle down. Haven’t lived in Canada for about 10 years (except for some short stays). Thanks 🙏
Wow! That is cheap bro and you got a bargain price, as Bohol in the Tagbilaran/Panglao area is pricey in general due to its accessability to Cebu and just the ocean in front of you and just Bohol being a major tourist island, I have another place in Clarin a few kilometers from you but decided on Mactan instead.. Congrats!
Great house Alan. I love your place were you can have many things you want like planting and livestocks just keeping yourself busy and passing time .. Lot property keep increasing always especially if the place starts developing ... Thanks for your vlog
Hi Alan, i hope you are doing well. I just wondered why you did't put any solarpanels? As electricity is rather expensive in the Philipinnes and there is a lot of sun. Did you consider to place some or are they too expensive to place them. Looking forward for your next video. Take care
Hi 👋 at the time I could afford it. It would have to be on top of the existing costs. It was something to consider for the future if the prices made sense. Even after this big storm, there was a chance they flew away or were damaged by trees. So it’s not a 100% guarantee backup plan. And right now during Amihan we have mostly cloudy days. I do like the idea of portable solar/battery setups. The heavy duty camping ones. Like a Jackery. But that will be a future expense. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for your share of all the expenses on the entire house and lot. My Dutch husband is now 62 years of age. It takes 5 years more till his retirement. When that day comes, we will be leaving The Netherlands and live on our retirement to my homeland Philippines for good. We are looking for an affordble, simple place for the 2 of us. We dont want to live in the city. Want a place most likely yours. Im now "window shopping" for a possible retirement place. I will follow you. Though Im a Filipina, Im away for 37 years, thats why your page is so helpful for me to seek.
An important question to ask when buying a lot is it in a flood area. During June, July you will experience monsoon rains that can quickly lead to glooding.
Ok no problem. I understand. But.. I only have a Canadian passport, no residency in PH and I have to pay my tourist visa every 2 months like everyone else. 🤷♂️
@@BoholisAwesome but dear Amigo.. Mama pilipina. Your a mile ahead of any extranhero Eventhough you do go through The processes of visa ect ect I have never ment to tell you Your pilipino because you look .like a pilipino. Not had feeling please God bless From.darwin n.t Australia
Hi Allan, thanks for the the detailed list of the costs. But I am sorry to say it's all overprized. The land : for that prize/ sqm you get almost beach lots. You are not in a gatet community, you had to install your electricity and water sources. Also the house is too expensive for build in province. They took the money from a foreigner, walking green money. But, at least, you are happy with it, that's the most important.
I can appreciate your point of view. But here, on this island, in the place I wanted to build… these are the prices. I’ve done the research. I know what the prices are. If I wanted to live very far from Panglao, sure, you can find a lot cheaper. But that would not work for my lifestyle. I could also build in a different province and pay less and be on the beach. Sure. But that’s not what I wanted or where I wanted to be. Did I cost a lot more than some places, yes. Did I over pay based on the local going rate, no. I’ve been travelling around the world for 10 years straight. I’m not a gullible foreigner. But believe what you want. Hopefully the video will help others. Have an awesome day 🤙
@@BoholisAwesome I say cost depends location some places are high prices some are low it depends but your house looks great it's worth every penny good job my friend
How is it getting citizenship? I’m here in the US and know very little about how this all becomes possible. Trying to figure out the whole process. Requirements etc
Did you build include a warranty from the builder? In case anything happens? Also, get home insurance in case that storm or earthquake comes along. Price there doubled since then, wow.
Lovely..I have been following your videos. I love that you aren’t intrusive and respect the privacy of your subjects yet you are able to get your message across.. one fan here..heard your roots are from Quezon. Please please ask your Mom to contact me. Thanks much and may your followers increase even more.. God bless you,
Good video! Who did you have build your home? It looks like it turned out great! I’ll be looking for contractors in a few months and would like your recommendation
Unfortunately some of us do not have a friend of a friend to make sure of ethical standards of treatment. My sister’s house was destroyed in the typhoon and she is not expecting the Calvary to rescue her. I am in the states and remain clueless as to how to help her from here to navigate repair 😢
Yes I was very fortunate. I hope you’re able to sort things out for your sister. Maybe if she has an contacts that she trusts she could get some quotes and go from there.
