Great video! Simple and realistic tips. Legacy systems seem to me like elephant in the rooms of our time. We like new stuff, but still depend a lot on older ones, and that'll probably remain true for decades. Learning to work with legacy can be very rewarding, in many senses. Thank you! Greetings from Brazil.

Wow, this is super useful, I think it ought to have more views. This seems like a huge problem in software, that old systems are built, then, in a few short years they are out of date. So there should be a good opportunity for devs to help manage and phase out these systems. Could be big bucks for doing this, yet this vid doesn't have the interest that the latest AI, or JS framework hype train does haha.

Yeah, I think it kind of boils down to "what are people searching for and/or what RU-vid thinks works as a watch next" and legacy code ain't it. Oh well, at least it was a sort of therapy for me lol.

@@ChangeNode haha ya it help's to talk it out, even if to a sparse internet audience. I did save the video for my own 'dealing with legacy code' skillset. I've had some freelance Work building webapps in php/mysql, and also gui/drag and drop stuff, but have not really "made it". I need to find more developer work. It is weird how difficult (scope of work can be years) yet addicting projects can be to me. Do you have any advice for webDev nowadays? I do web apps, casual online games, entrepreneurial stuff, love linux. Located in Rural Canada. Any tips, im open to suggestions!

@@EDC.EveryDayCode If you haven't checked out the vid I did on tips for Java devs I'd take a look at that. There are a few Java specific things but a lot of it would be useful for you. Other than that not sure what to say. I went through some bubble.io tutorials recently and tbh it really drove home how many apps can be built with low code/no code. Network, recruiters, etc. FWIW I did a few very specialty videos on comparatively obscure topics eg how to sign/staple/notarize macOS JVM apps and those only got a few hundred views at most but resulted in a few contract gigs. So maybe try making a few vids on topics you are interested in and be sure to mention you are available for work at the end.
