This brings back memories. I caught my first large mouth bass off the small dock there. I was six years old. I baited the hook and cast it out and when the fish hit my line, I clearly remember telling my dad to "stand back, I don't want you to get hurt :) And, I pulled that 4lbs bad boy in all by myself. I still can't remember who was prouder, me or my dad. Needless to say, we feasted that night.

@@CampingwiththeColes I can't thank you enough for making this video. The wonderful memories it brought back were amazing. Especially, my dad cheering me on as I struggled to reel that fat boy in. Hearing him cheer, " you got this, Kenna!! And me responding back..."Daddy.please! I need to focus".... Daddy/Daughter time at it's best.

Hey Coles, loved this Rondeau ‘23 video, this park is right in our “backyard” have enjoyed it for +30 yrs. Looking forward to your upcoming newbie RV tips video as we are camping 3rd week of May in Rondeau in our first travel trailer after yrs of a pop-up. Good on you for the OP sponsorship, safe travels this summer :)

I just wanted to say a huge thank you! Your videos have been an absolute lifesaver for me. As someone who has moved to Canada from another country, your videos have been like a treasure trove of information. The rules and customs for camping in Canada can be quite different from what I'm used to, and your videos have made it so easy for me to understand where to go, what to do, and what to be careful of. Thanks to you for helping us, your videos are like my camping bible🥰😍🤩

Found your channel last year and have been enjoying your very informative and to the point videos. They provide all the right information so that you know what to expect at each park. We camped with the kids when they were young and explored a good number of provincial parks with them. Hiking, biking, and swimming were the main focus then. Now we've moved from a pop up to a travel trailer and bought kayaks. It's fair to say that the kayaks have opened up a ton of new areas to explore and parks we traveled to with the kids are now like brand new again with the kayaks. I was more than a little concerned jumping from the pop up to a travel trailer as I didn't think it would be like camping anymore, but this has now opened up spring and fall camping in amazing comfort. We truly love the early and late season camping for all the reasons you mention in this video. Nothing like using the oven for more than an extra cupboard and having a warm meal in your toasty warm trailer on a blustery day. Almost look forward to some less than perfect weather for playing games at the table. You mentioned you will be traveling to Kilarney this summer. This park is absolutely amazing for kayaking and you could easily spend a week or more there exploring some absolutely stunning scenery. You can even combine some kayaking to get you to hiking trails that otherwise wouldn't be accessible. Not to mention the little town of Kilarney which is definitely worth a visit for some fresh fish and chips right off the fishing boats. One word of caution, the road into the park (Hwy 637) is 58 km's of rather rough road. You definitely want to batten everything down and take your time. We got to the park and opened the door to find that the fridge door had opened and just about everything was on the floor and what could break or smash had done so. We thought the door was secured but maybe yes or maybe no, one way or the other it's a rough ride in. and out. Keep up the great videos. We like to try at least one new park every year and your videos are great in helping us choose as it seems that what you are looking for in the parks is very similar to what we look for.
@CampingwiththeColes
@CampingwiththeColes Год назад
I agree that the travel trailer really opens up the spring and fall camping in comfort. One of our fondest memories is spending a few nights at Pinery in the fall during a very cold, windy and wet time. All 3 kids were with us and we had so much fun playing games together and racing out as soon as the rain stopped to do some quick exploring before the rain started again. The kids loved going to the beach in their rain gear and leaning into the strong winds, trying not to fall. Those are times that make memories to last a lifetime. We've been down that Killarney road a few times but never with a trailer. It should be a real experience. Thanks for watching our videos. We're glad you're finding them helpful for making your camping plans.

Great video Ben and Cheryl. We use this free app from Cornell for bird identification. Used it a fair bit to identify based on colours and sound. Merlin Bird ID is free. Thanks for sharing Jeff. We discovered the Merlin App last year and it's amazing. I feel bad for birders who have dedicated so much time in being able to ID birds and then an app comes out so that any schmo with a cell phone can do the same thing. We briefly showed how it works last fall in our review of Lake St. Peter PP. Happy camping!

We are camping at the Upper Canada Bird Sanctuary which is part of the St Lawerence Park System in early June and is super excited!! They are very similar to the Ontario Parks system. We love camping in the fall for similar reasons in early spring hardly any bugs!! We are going to have to explore what is open near us in early spring next year. We are camping at Rideau Mothers' Day weekend though! Love your sexy hair clip from your wild early covid days.. very funny. Thank you for the magnet and stickers we are setting up the trailer today!! Thanks for the tips and inspiration as always!! We love your video's!!!

Great new song, but …. It’s an ear worm! I’ve been singing it since I watched the video a couple of hours ago. 🎼⛺️🎶 Camping with the Coles, hum, hum, hum, hum, camping with Coles🎶🎶🎵. Thanks? But seriously, thank you both for this video. As soon as I finish this I’m going to book a couple of days at Rondeau (our maiden voyage in our new-to-us teardrop) for the bird flyover. So, kudos for inspiring us.

Thanks! I've probably said before that I love Rondeau. It's my happy place. I plan to head there to camp around the middle of May. Maybe a day trip between now and then, to go for a bike ride. I'm not a birder, but it sounds as if you can't help but see birds in early May. I'll be sure to take my binoculars. Oh! Last year, on a whim, we decided to head to Rondeau in July. There were no electrical sites available, but plenty of non electrical sites open. Having camped there for decades, and having spent time at a cottage as a kid, I can report that it usually isn't too hot at night in the summer. There always seems to be a bit of a breeze at night. But yes, there were biting flies. Some at the campground, and unbearable at the beach.

Hey guys! Love your content. We have a golden doodle as well and not sure if you know, shaving them down can do more damage than good! Polyester is horrible and, I'm sorry, did you say we want to avoid sweating while hiking? Isn't that the goal ,because that's how the body detoxifies ?
@CampingwiththeColes
@CampingwiththeColes 7 месяцев назад
Polyester is the main material in most athletic wear including Under Armour. In fact, a great deal of Under Armour and other companies athletic wear is 100% polyester. It is the standard in athletic wear and outdoor clothing. Hiking in cold weather requires several layers of clothing. Having sweat soaking the innermost layer is very uncomfortable and if you stop for a break you'll get cold very fast. That's why you dress in layers, removing layers the hotter you get from the exercise. When you stop for a break you can put layers back on. In warm weather, if you want to sweat through you're clothing that's fine because the sweat will help cool you. Again, polyester or other moisture wicking (quick dry) material will feel most comfortable against your body. 100% cotton will stay wet and take a very long time to dry.

Kingston rarely camps with us. He is 14 years old and slowing down a lot. He can't keep do hikes or much anymore. He usually stays home with our daughter who works from home. She likes having him with her for company. We just got Jax and this trip was our first trip with him. We left him in the trailer when we went for a little bike ride. We gave him a Kong with a milkbone and peanut butter in it to keep him busy. I put a camera on in the trailer to see what he did when we were gone. We watched it afterward and he just looked out the window for a bit and had a little nap. We were so happy no know that we can leave him and he won't freak out or bark.
