Thanks. This was so helpful and you gave tips that we don’t often get. A friend was touring Seoul and a man approached her and wanted to marry her. Since she is already married she laughed at it but now I wonder if it was a cult. Good to be aware while we enjoy your beautiful country.
Very helpful information. I started planning my trip to South Korea two years before I went. I studied everything! My daughters and I had so much fun! No problems at all! You just need to prepare and join travel sights! That’s how I discovered you Dan!
I just visited for 14 days trip, I love Korea and Korean people very much and I still do, The one thing I am disappointed with is, Korean people don't smiles I don't know the reason behind this , I was so excited to visit Korea and meet Korean people but nobody smiles back at you , I hope and wish Korean people smile more when someone smiles at them, I love everything about Korea and Koreans very very much ❤❤❤
Smiling at strangers is only a social norm in some countries. In some, it's considered super weird. My friends that went to Russia to study were told it was super weird and creepy that they smiled so much.
Greatest experience of my life in seoul, wonderful friendly people, offered a job and place to live so currently back in the uk preparing to take all my stuff back to start a fresh there 😊
Luckily when I went to Seoul, all of the restaurants I went to did allow me to dine alone. I absolutely do not know anyone in Seoul so it would have been a problem otherwise. Although I guess in Seoul there are so many restaurants and finding another restaurant will not be a problem. I also used Naver Map and it really was good especially for finding out which train or bus to use from point A to B. But its usage is a bit difficult if one doesn‘t know any Korean. I fortunately know some Korean so it was okay. The supermarket tip will be helpful when I go visit Korea again! Cheers!
This is really great Dan, thanks!! I especially loved the late night snack video 😁 what a great tip. Plus i think it’s nice stores do that to save foods instead of just throwing them away. Also it’s nice if maybe you’re on a budget whether a resident or a tourist you could benefit from that. The money card that was also very useful as a person who has travelled its good to know these things. When we travelled to England, France and Italy we bought a Euro Pass for the train it saved us a lot. And i believe England had something for their underground, I’m thinking most places you can buy passes for transportation. If I’m ever fortunate enough to travel to Korea i will watch this again as well as your other video because you had other information in that one. Thanks great video. Not sure where you’re travelling next but i look forward to it 😁. Have a great day or evening time zones are not my specialty.
Thank you so much for your well round off information. You are very generous with the wealth of info. Visiting Korea is on my bucket list (I hope soon). I love in Puerto Rico, come and visit, and I will share with you tips.😊😊
Always helpful... 1. I didn't know where to get a T Money until after I took a cab to the hotel from the airport... but with luggage it was probably best to take a taxi anyway. I bought mine at the convience store right next to my hotel and the employee was really nice about it and even made sure I added money to it right there at the shop. I still have my T Money card in my wallet since it has probably like $20 on it. 2. Regular taxis are already really nice... don't pay for the more expensive ones. Also, some places are hard to get a taxi at late hours, so if you're planning on leaving a place late make sure it's within walking distance to the train station or your hotel JUST IN CASE. 3. Didn't use a VPN, but that's mostly because I wasn't using my computer much... but it's definitely a good thing especially if you're doing business in another country. 4. That's crazy... didn't know this was a thing. Luckily, Danny's wine bar let me in even tho I was alone. 5. Can confirm that trash cans are rare unless you're in an area specifically designed around tourism. 9. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS! You were keeping this all to yourself.... rude!
@@liaahgase4583 It's probably the same for some US places, but I know they will throw everything out at the end of the day and that's insanely wasteful.
In Korea, optical shops are very affordable, fast, and accurate. Even without any preparation, you can purchase eyeglasses that you love in every aspect at a very reasonable price within 20 minutes by simply going to an optical shop. And it's also a good idea to do a little research in advance about dental or medical treatments. Dental clinics and hospitals in Korea are known for being both affordable and highly skilled.
This vlog will help a lot people who want to visit Korea and not only from your own tips but also from the questions and instructions of people who have already visited your country, as I can see from all these comments below. Very useful vlog Danny!!🥰👍
I’m planning to visit Korea on January 2025 before the semester starts, I needed a reset so I can catch a breath. My OG plan was to go back from my home country but I was like “why not try a different country instead.” So I choose SK. Omg I’m gonna travel alone~ kinda scary but at the same time kinda excited.
Your videos on „How to…“ in Korea are always enjoyable, very useful, and just fun to watch! Thank you for making them, Danny! 👏🙏😊 Love your hoodie and your smiles extra in this one. 🥰 Your Aura does stand out, that`s just who you are and how it is, just stating facts. 😉😁 I personally find it great that stores in Korea are open until very late, especially the 24h ones. Did I get it right that there are enough stores open 24h?😅 Because here in Austria you`re practically screwed from a certain hour on, weekdays mostly around 8pm, Saturdays even earlier around 6pm AND also Sundays closed all day. 😂
Thx a lot…so helpful…Talking about tips number 9 and 10, I think it’s similar to those in Japan…I mean, while traveling to Japan, I went to the big supermarkets there, such as Ito Yokado, Takashimaya, Sogo, they would give us certain discounts on Deli sections on certain time at night. N also, the Daiso thing, yeah, that’s one of my favorite shops while visiting Japan…so cheap n convenient…even here in Indonesia, where I’m living, I used to go to Daiso, too. N next to Daiso, there’s always Japanese grocery store called Papaya, that also gives certain discounts on Deli section at certain time at night…hmm, so interesting…new things to learn, I guess…
This is so helpful. Just found your channel. I will be in Seoul by myself in late March/April for the first time so any info is welcome. I work full time and been busy so I haven't even had time to study the language. Tips like this make me feel more confident.
I want to ask one question . 1)Many people don't eat non-veg and there are also vegetarians. Like Indians, can you tell me if they have any options in terms of food? 😊 I don't eat non-veg, I don't eat onion ,curd, I eat onions only when fried and cooked, I don't eat onions raw. That's why I asked., so many indian s don't eat onions, meat, chicken, some members do not eat 😊Ginger and garlic are also . Whenever we come to Kore😊qa for a trip, I don't eat non-veg,When we go to a hotel or a restaurant, when we order food, if we order the food we like, no one knows what animal meat is added to that food. Can you give any tips for such people?😊
Great tips! Here in Australia I often buy markdown food especially meat I would be so excited to visit Korea just to say I found some markdown food my subscribers would say 'only you' LOL
Visiting Korea is on my bucket list and hopefully it will happen within the next few years. These tips will be extremely helpful. And I will be sure to visit Zaneuk and hopefully get to meet you. Regarding your aura: I don't know much about this, but I would say you have a combination blue-green aura; you seem to have an inner light that radiates positive, uplifting energy that affects those around you and makes them feel good.
I missed your videos 🥰 Thank you for once again preparing us and giving us a "heads up" before our trips to Korea. Hope you're doing well and you're happy ❤ 끝 P.S. I think you said about the wifi egg (the thing you can buy in the airport so you can have internet wherever you go) in other videos, right? 🤔
Thank you so much! Those tips are really helpful and reliable and timely as I say. I'm planning to travel to Korea soon and your advices and tips are really much of a help for me to ease everything. Gomawo Hyungnim!
Hi Dan, I just discovered your channel and I’m hooked..lol..Such a refreshing and thoughtful advice . I’ve lived in Seoul for a long time, my husband and I raised our kids in Seoul. We went back to Sydney back in 2008. I Love your channel. I was laughing at all the tips you discussed at how accurate it was.I remembered seeing the cults ladies in Itaewon long time ago.. Luckily for my family, my husband company provided us with English speaking drivers, so we were never exposed to most of the things you said… Love your work ..Keep it going. Love from Australia.
I appreciate your tips for travelling to Korea. I like it from your point of view as a Korean :) I hear so many different views from people travelling to Korea, esp. as a foreigner. It gives me a mix of vibes. I would like to visit Korea and then for a second I think to myself that it might not be a good idea. I think I will feel very lonely travelling to Korea, so far away from home in a completely different country with nobody to communicate with. You say that Koreans usually don't come up to you, so I imagine travelling to Korea without talking to anybody 😅 A guy told that he was at a nightclub and a girl was sitting at the stairs and a Korean guy appeared to her and grabbed her aggressively, trying to force her into a car. The guy goes up to the girl and asks her if she knew the guy, and she replies no. The guy managed to take the girl away from the guy, and she was very grateful. The girl was not Korean, and the guy told that Korean men treat foreign girls differently than Korean girls. I also saw videos with foreigner girls living in Korea telling similar stories. They are excluded from entering places because they are not Korean, some Koreans talk in polite to them in korean because they are foreigners etc. I really don't feel as a middle east woman living in a western country, who is use to a culture where we are free and treaten respectfully (most times) go to Korea and have a bad experience. I have a big passion for Korea, and I am very interested in Korean culture and history. I don't want that passion to vanish by travelling to Korea with a bad experience. I know I am very sceptical, and people are different, and of course, not all koreans are the same. A part of me really really wants to see Korea, and then there are the suspicious parts that will not :)
Wow! Thank you for good tips. I go to soul with my daughter. Try to learn Korean as fast as we can. Yes we like k-pop as we are in the entertaining industry. And you look so good and have much charm and most important your videos are so professional. Good luck with your carreer. Love from Norway🇳🇴
I visited Korea for the first time in August, will be visiting Korea again in January which is in less than 2 months …. I am so exited ! Thank you for this great video ! ❤️
Thank you so much. This has been super helpful and all will be implemented. Also the late night snack sale😁. If I encounter a fellow tourist it would not surprise me if it were a follower of yours - now that you have spilled the beans so to speak 😁. And I will finally get to have a drink at your bar. Looking forward to that and the food 😊
Thanks for this video. I just shared it to my sister in law. My brother and his family are going to Korea for holiday end of this year. This video will be helpful for them.
Thanks Dan - it was a lovely vid. Im a solo traveller and Im 55 years old so it means double problem LOL ----- I appreciate your tips. Did not like the idea of restaurants not accepting solo travellers but understand the logic behind. Im visiting Korean next April 2025 and that´s the reason Im literally devouring all vids about it so that I might be well prepared or at least prevent some issues from happening. Will be checking out ur other vids. Take care... Toby from Costa Rica
Thank you for sharing 😊. I just knew that there’re lots of cult in Korea. I was in Dongdaemun where a nice harmless looking ahjuma approached and offered me a small card saying exactly like what you said, that i have a good vibes. Luckily i am firm and kept saying no thank you. Firstly, I want to know how can i know which hotel has a not nice reputation to avoid. No 2, maybe you can share in your video how do you travel locally (to Jeju, Mt Sorak, Nami etc.). And are there hotels with tour packages available at receptionist desk, pay there and we can be picked up at the lobby the day after? Thanks for the hardwork, may you be healthy always 😊🙏
1. this is a little hard. you just need to read the reviews. I sometimes fail also but reading reviews help 2. only tried this at guest houses and I have a video on it
It’s so helpful this advice. Thank you Dan for always telling us before. I was once in Korea, I loved it but I don’t really know all these things. I agree with you, the little plastic bag is very important. ThXxxxxxx can’t wait to return back
I find important:🚽🧻 There are a lot of public toilets, which are also very clean and freely accessible.🧏♀️ But please always pay attention to how the toilet paper should be disposed of. That doesn't exist in Germany. Better to sweat it out. Must try: I fell in love with these fish. The sweet dough with pudding filling. Delicious. And of course 🍗🍗🍗 and kimchi! And and and...
Very nice video, Dan! I learned a lot! It is nice to have these tips, it makes the trip to Korea a whole lot nicer and easier. Thanks for such an informative video! 🌞😊👍
I ❤ Daiso, too! They're very good at showing you things you didn't know you needed, LOL! It costs twice as much in the U.S. as it does in Japan, but still very affordable!
My QUESTIONS/??? 😊 Next time I fly to Korea, I wanted to apply for an international driver's license first. 1. Where can I rent a car? Is it expensive (normal budget)? 2. Are there such things as holiday apartments or holiday homes?
Thanks for ur tips ,It helps a lot when someone comes to Korea for the first time. Ur videos so amazing every time . 9 tip so much helpful, Carrying Plastic Bags Wherever we go, we always have plastic bags in our handbags. How do we know which hotels are good when we have to stay? 0:41 According to our budget. 1) tip T-money card card that was so much help. 3) Get a VPN this tip so much helpful, I don't know much about this, thanks for telling me. Specially food, naver map, transilation app.😅 Night 8to10pm will definitely shop when we come to Compulsory Korea. 10 tip This is the most important tip because health is very important so thanks,This tip will definitely work when we are not in good health when we come to any country,Including the emergency number u say .🙏🏼🙏🏼 ur nice guy.😊 thanks for this video. 🙏🏼🥰 We will definitely keep these tips in mind when we come to Korea.😊 Even learning a bit of Korean will help when you get there.😊🫶👍
thanks Dan, very useful tips for solo traveller or first time visitor to Korea. Especially the plastic bag, supermarket and taxi one. In our country black taxi is just normal taxi so I would definitely gonna make that mistake. Also, would be great if you can give us some tips about accommodation too, so many people suggest different things like airbnb, hotel, guesthouse so it's quite hard to choose. Thank you for the vlog.
Hi Danny thanks for your video because it help me a lot that I will travel to Korea on December this year by myself to celebrate my 21st birthday but it's my first time in Korea and I hope it help me when I arrive
Simple, and yet so essential to our lives 🤗 thanks a million for these thoughtful tips🙏 it comes from experience, best tips even if they sound “so wear”, strange: they are so meaningful. Such is the case of places were they do not serve one person. That’s so important when it comes to eating out. Can you imagine a Michellin food rater🤔 unable to give a ⭐️🙄😝 Danny, your videos are amazing🫶😘
Very good advice, thanks Dan.👍 As always, informative, to the point and based on your own experience. It’s cool, Dan, that on your channel you successfully combine different types of content: travel, interviews, advice, just sharing personal impressions, and so on. Keep it up. And don’t forget that you are just handsome (I hope you smile while reading this😊😉). Take care of yourself!
Great tips. I would recommend getting a Wow card. Kind of like the T-money, but more like prepaid Korean debit card. You can pay for shopping and taxi. But still carry Korean Won since street vendors and most local markets only accept cash. The subway and bus system are excellent which can take you anywhere in Seoul. Taxis are relatively cheap compared to the US and is a preferred option to avoid a lot of walking.
Wow thanks for all the tips, it's extremely helpful! I really hope to have the opportunity to travel there! If I'll ever visit South Korea, your informative tips will definitely come in handy! Right now, subscribed to your Channel to follow any future tips! Thanks again for sharing! 💜🤗👍🏼
This is so useful! Glad I found your channel. We are planning a trip to Korea with our kids. I wanted to know, 1. Which city or place is a good base for a 2 week trip? 2. Is it easy to get around from one city to another?
Thanks so much I want to come to Korea to teach ESL but I am older and need practical advice. I would love a video about making friends. I have heard that is really hard for foreigners.
What apps do you recommend for ticketing? Such as for Everland, Busan Sky Capsule, DMZ…. Also, we would be interested in going to a League of Legends match but I read you needed a Korean phone number to get tickets. What do you recommend for foreigners to do if interested in getting tickets for a LOL match? How would we go about getting tickets? Thank you for your video. It is very helpful.
I absolutely love your videos. I will never get to visit Korea, but appreciate any & all travel tips. LOL. By the way, YES, you have a "good aura." Thank you for your tips. Keep the videos coming. 😊
Thanks for the helpful information! I'll be travelling to Seoul this December and I'll be stopping by Incheon for 2D1N, hopefully I'll be able to visit your cafe and bar as well!
