When in a store like Target if there is no better way or situation, especially if I’m alone, I go in a dressing room. They have the family dressing rooms so if you have a stroller you can fit everything in the room with you.

I love this video and I definitely feel the same way about breastfeeding in public (also thought I would be one of those moms all about the normalize breastfeeding movement). Thanks for these great tips! I double up my light swaddle blankets and use them as my nursing covers so I don’t have to pack both when I’m out. I tie the ends of the swaddle blanket behind my neck and it has worked great. I also feel most comfortable breastfeeding in the back of my car. I just hop in the back seat. Thanks again for the advice on this topic!

Watched this video even though it doesn't apply to me since I don't use a cover, I just enjoy your content and information. I was the opposite, planned to cover up because I'm kinda shy, but both my babies fought the cover so badly and would freak out which drew so much more attention than just popping them on without a cover. Lol

This was amazing, thank you for addressing this important topic 😊 I am like you, I felt more relaxed being covered up while nursing. But my baby hated the nursing cover. So, I just nurse in the car too! I found it relaxing and I liked knowing I always had a place that I found safe to nurse in. 😊

Thank you for this video! I struggled a little with nursing in public with my first. I used the two shirt method the most with a little help from my muslin blankets. I'm due in July this time (last baby was born in December) so, I think I will need a nursing cover for coolness. Thanks to the comment that recommended the muslin cover with the wire. I think I will check it out!

I loved the muslin Bebe au late cover with the wire ring. The muslin is super breathable and lightweight which was key where I live. I could never get the 360 ones to work for me. I just felt suffocated with all the fabric. Now with baby number 2 I ditched the cover all together and do the 2 shirt method. I definitely don’t feel comfortable nursing in public without the 2 shirt method! Thanks for sharing!

5 Minute Cloth I was just going to suggest the muslin Bebe Au Lait cover with the wire. 😉 I find it bigger and wider than my first cover and it is so lightweight and very breathable. I use my old cover as a spare and keep it in my pump bag incase I ever forget the muslin cover. The 2 shirt method is also a must. I use the Undercover Mama nursing tanks. 😊 ~ Maria

Thank you for being honest and sharing the inner challenges that come with feeding. I’ve a toddler and now a new born and after asking moms group I was redirected to find things on RU-vid. I guess I’m in the same boat where I want to have back up plan in case things don’t work in public. What a great idea to use car as the safe and peaceful place.

I have the second style of cover and I like to pull it over my head and drape it over my shoulder on whichever side I’m nursing on. I think it adds a bit more coverage. I also have the first cover you showed but i find it to be a bit hot so i use a small personal fan that i put under the cover with baby kind of hooked in my bra strap, keeps us both cool under there.

I now have 4 kiddos but it hasn't worked in the past to breastfeed. Now with #4 she's 10 days old, has a terrible latch that takes 2 hands and lots of visual. On top of that I'm well blessed in that area so it's hard to hide. I am 100% mortified at the idea of showing my breast, especially any chance of areola or nipple! I tried just using a big muslin swaddle at home today and it was a disaster. Hot, it kept falling on her face, coming between us, I couldn't see her at all.... I may have to try the one with the wire because I have to see right now but as things get easier move to the other one. I don't pump enough to pack any so I'll have to bring formula if I bottle feed but it may be what I do... We haven't left the house aside from appointments because the idea of nursing in public is so stressful!

Thank you so much for this video. Soon to be FTM and also well endowed, the idea of breast feeding in public has always been on the back of my mind. I just bought two itzy ritzy covers to use when I have to be out and about. Hopefully, I can do it but i also love that you added the alternative to bring milk with. Never thought of that for some reason lol. Thank you again. If you wouldn’t mind I would love to see your set up for the car.

I can't feed in public. Not sure what it is. Maybe because i feel like i have to pitch a tent to nurse; I have to have head support for my baby, a light blanket to make whatever prop i used under his head, some where to put my foot up because he cant reach my boob, etc... Why am I so difficult? Does anyone else feel like this? I need a ton of support to get a feeding in, gladly there are many nursing rooms in public places but why cant i just feed sitting normally. ugh!

I have also talked a quarter of a receiving blanket or swaddle blanket into the top of my bra or tank top and it functions relatively well

I’ve nursed in the dressing room at stores but at Costco they let me use their employee pumping room. Never hurts to ask the manager somewhere since most places have some where did employees to pump

I don't mind feeding uncovered, since you can't see much (baby's head and your shirt cover most of the breast) but initially getting baby latched is when I want coverage, so I don't have my whole boob out.

Have you tried the itzy ritzy nursing scarf? Or any nursing scarf? I like that the top opening is a little bigger so I can pull my arm through on one side(or so it seems). I've never tried one so just curious if it provides decent coverage

Most stores have dressing rooms you can nurse in especially target. Amen, I’m glad you said it. It’s one thing to want to be gung ho and another in practice. It does give you anxiety and is worse with a squirmy baby. I do nurse full out in my car though so if someone passes and stares they do get a smirk from me because I’m in my own car so I don’t care what they think lol.

Nowadays in the days of mommy wars, we young moms worry too much. The normalize it movement mostly made me feel pressured to bare my knockers in public, and that can have some interesting results. I have seen many a naked mom nipple in some very public places. I don't judge, everyone should do what is best for them. I left the house with both my young boys and went everywhere and nursed them, sometimes with a nursing tank top with a clip that pulled down and a t shirt over it. Loved that, modest and convenient, no nursing cover or blanket needed, which my nursing 18 month old no longer liked.

I'm almost 3 weeks PP and THANK YOU for this video!!! I am going through the same feelings about breastfeeding in public. My body is for my baby and my partner to see and nourish.... not be stared at. I was at the Dr and an older gentleman walked in and said "oh you have a sick baby huh?" I said no......was trying to just feed my baby girl bc i forgot a bottle with pumped milk and he was just staring and said well why are you here? I said sir I'm sorry I'm trying to feed her if you'd excuse me.. i got out my cover and it is HARD to use. I was so uncomfortable 😢 it is sad that people are that way.

Thank you so much for this! I learned a lot! I’ll definitely try that 2 way top, I never thought of that! I’ve been using the 360 or just covering myself with my baby’s blanket whenever I nurse in public. Can you recommend any nursing cami that you like? I bought a couple from amazon but it would always ride up and lint too much I couldn’t even wear it in public.

Target will let you use their dressing rooms to nurse if you ask much cleaner than a bathroom

Do you feed your baby with a bottle and he would still take your breast? People tell me not to feed my baby with a bottle because I won't be able to breastfeed him anymore 😥😥 please help

My oldest nursed well in public, under a blanket. My twins didn't, they had to see Mom. I did feed in public but barriers in the way. Please understand, I LOVE BREASTFEEDING, I LOVE MOM'S WHO BREASTFEED. I was a single Mom with my first, I only had God to answer to & He taught me modesty (I was not modest before I got saved). Fast forward 12 years, I only nursed a couple times in public with #6 because I am a 44K & I'm not trying to put any man, especially married men, at risk. Now that being said, I freely nursed my asthmatic child in the hospital ER & didn't care what anyone thought. Please let me know everyone's thoughts about how they breadtfeed. (I did the "samich" method too)
