my fav AU cosplays I saw this year at a con was a group of 3 dudes, dressed Mario, Link and master Roshi. they all wore adidas track suits in the respective colour with a white shirt underneath and some cool shades 😎 so funny and immediately recognisable during said con, my health was kinda bad. I cosplayed Azula for one day and my friend suggested an entire Avatar group, spa edition or "being done with the world after the last war"-edition. imagine a bathrobe or sleeping mask that says "princess", a face mask with cucumbers or wearing a towel around the neck 😂
I think the only AU design I've done so far was a magical girl ladybug because I don't have the confidence for body suits. and the series basically is a magical girl show, so throwing ladybug into a more traditional magical girl floofy ruffle covered dress made sense to me and for designs like that I found it important to keep accessories like the mask and the miraculous. so it would still read as ladybug
this is such a cool topic for a video, and one i really love!! i find my AU cosplays always get lots of attention at cons because people are always like "oh that's so cool! i'd have never thought of that!" ALSO your eye look in this is bomb. so cute!!
I've been a bit on the fence as to whether or not to do AU cosplays because I was scared people wouldn't recognize the character, but this really helped me realise that I don't need to worry about that. Thank you for speaking about this topic. Your videos really have helped me whenever I was struggling to keep cosplaying. whenever you upload I know it will be amazing!!
My first con in 2019 my boyfriend and me did not stick with canon looks for our characters as we used what we owned for the most part. We were Voltron characters each day and they only one that didn’t get recognized was my Romelle, but I wasn’t surprised. Sunday of that con was my favorite. My boyfriend was Coran going to the beach in April and I was a mashup of Shiro, I had his silver arm but white hair. I plan to do an Altean version of Pidge this year. I’ve been thinking of doing a Winx AU version of Marinette/Ladybug. I’ve drawn her and all the other heros as Winx fairies because of the cosplay idea.
This video couldn't be any more perfect timing! I am drafting out a cosplay for next spring of Princess Peach's evil form from Paper Mario and was thinking to make it steampunk 🤔
As I was watching this, inspiration hit for an AU cosplay I've been struggling with for a while! These are super helpful tips and helped me come up with an idea I'm excited about!
Fantastic video; I especially loved seeing all your photos, as I hadn't seen certain ones before! You're such a great cosplayer, Anya. Thanks for sharing these tips! ❤
Right now I’m working on a femme AU cosplay of Dante from Devil May Cry. I dunno why I have the most fun doing femme AU cosplays of male characters, but I do…I’ve also done this with Steve Harrington and am planning on doing this with Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes. ☺️
I find AU cosplay a fun way of not breaking the bank and getting the most out of some old cosplay items. I am planning to do a student version of Texas from Arknights. I thought of getting her long hair wig-but since I already have her Epoque skin ponytail wig from last year (and I'm pretty in a pinch rn), figured I'm going to do a sailor suit or blazer student one. Hope this will turn out well))
Ooooohhhh, this really is my kind of video! 😃 I´m not that much into AUs but I love originsl designs, it´s the freedom in creativity for me. Sure Cosplay is a creative hobby through and through but I really love switching from screen accuracy to complete freedom every once in a while.
Hmm. I'm too detail oriented to do AU cosplays! Haha my favorite part of cosplay is being recognized! My newest one is a manga character, basically baiting other manga readers into talking to me hehe BUT ..I did make deadbeats hoodies from Mystery Skulls..and it ended up getting us pulled on stage at the CON-cert! Haha so amazing! Long hoodies just made sense with them. I did make sketches. Lol these are good tips, thanks!
