I spent about 10 months solo traveling in northern India - so I wanted to give a few travel tips to those who may be traveling or backpacking there soon.
This is an amazing country full of friendly people and amazing landscapes. But there are few things you should be aware of before you go. I hope this helps many of you!

Haha an Indian tourist couple just stopped me while I was watching this video, to have me take about 20 photos of them in the pool. Hey, is it normal for Indians to ask TONS of personal questions? The Indian tourists here in Thailand ask me an uncomfortable amount of personal questions.

- Welcome to Asia 😂😂. I have found that the people from Asia, in general, ask many questions that we would consider quite personal. For me I would say that India has been the country where people asked me the most consistent amount of weird and personal questions. often people asked about my mother or my sister and wanted to know personal questions about them... this was after meeting me only 45 seconds ago. This wasn't once or twice, this was in multiple cities and villages across northern India..from endless amounts of people. Interesting, I suppose 🤔😆

As a contrast to India, I'm an American (of European descent), and, while travelling as a tourist and living as a resident in Sri Lanka for almost five years, I was never once asked for a selfie.

Thanks man for your openness to India. You understand how diverse the country is and not stereotype it because when I read other comment sections they are so mean about the country without traveling it they are like it scammer Bobs and vagana shit hole country I agree there are foolish people in a country but all are not like that. Come again to India and make sure you travel to shimla from where I am 🙏🙏

Loved your advice on staying in hostels to save money! The snoring part made me chuckle - any tips on how to deal with that? Also, what's the best hostel you've stayed at in India?

- Eaaaarplugs. always! I have stated so many hostels. But usually hotels in India. I have no favorites 🥲

Actually it is very easy to get a sim card in india . In airport , there are sim counters or shop from there you can buy it easily. At delhi airports there are many sim counters. Or you can buy from any other shop

- it is easy for a local person. The moment you step out of the airport without a SIM card, it was extremely difficult to find a SIM card as a foreigner. Throughout northern, central, and Southern india, I have been to more than 15 shops and was denied by all of them... All three major companies. Can you explain that? 🧐

Hi. Lukas from Denmark. Planned for many years to back pack travel, (for the duration of months or even a year), to undeveloped countries, like India. But have procastonated, because where afraid to become victime of VIOLENT crimes. Did anybody of you try to BACK PACK travel to an undeveloped country where you felt safe. if so, which country was it. Thank you.

- I have backpacked many countries. Many. The only city I have felt unsafe in was Athens, Greece. Soooo sketchy in the downtown area. Otherwise each country you see in my playlists...I felt safe.

Place sounds like a nightmare. I’ve got a short fuse when it comes to people invading my personal space, I don’t think I’d like India. Shame because it’s my favourite food.

- I love this country..it was so much fun to travel in. But yeah, from our perspective they definitely ask some unique questions and become very close very quick.. we have a significantly different culture. I did, however, notice a change in behavior between the wealthy community and the middle class.. or even poor community. when I was around those who were in the upper middle class or in the wealthy category, it felt like I was at home.. there wasn't much difference..their behavior personality was very similar to our own, in the United States. I definitely recommend that you go to India and experience it for yourself 😇. maybe just try to pick and choose where you hangout ;)

Simple reason of overcharging by foreigners is that we locals pay taxes and that taxes is used to subside railway, tourist spot and many other government facilities. And you foreigners do not pay any taxes like us , so you are the charged actual value

@@Edgesofearth Men only 2% of Indian income taxes but Almost every product and service we buy has taxes on it. Go and Search about GST(good and service taxes). There are also other taxes like property tax , professional tax , stamp tax, registration tax ,etc

All tourists contribute to the GST with every purchase We pay visa fees We pay extra at every attraction, as mandated by the government We pay airline fees, which contribute to taxes We buy alcohol, the tax goes to the government And we're insured so if we need healthcare we bring a lot of money into the system Tourists only bring money into the country, they help build that infrastructure because they come in, spend money and then leave This is the most ridiculous argument I've ever heard

Hey , 2% people pay income tax , which is not a big fraction of cumulative tax collection . We also file tax returns of our businesses and enterprises on which tax is charged upon, there's tax on oil , water, and almost anything we do , you can't say that the taxation regime in India is so laxed, just go for yourself and ask a local .
