★About Me:★
Hey guys, I'm Diana from Toronto, Canada. Nice to meet you.
This past January, I quit my full-time 9-5 job to explore the world!
I wanted to experience new cultures and gain a new appreciation for life. During my travels, I've grown a lot and have learned to have gratitude for everything that I do have in my life. I want to share my experience with YOU and hopefully inspire you to break from the "norm" to pursue something that you've have always wanted to do.
I post videos every week, ranging from travel vlogs, what I ate/eat in a day (vegan/plant-based diet) and fashion outfit ideas.
Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already and stay up to day with my travel adventures on my social media (@MapleSunset)!

Great advice. I have stayed in two different hostels in different countries. One place is perfect for me while visiting the city, stayed 3times. Will return next time in the area. I don't want party environment, just sleep, eat and off to the city. Take locks for lockers, some lockers too small for luggage, also take extension cord for outlets, small flashlight, flip flops ( shoes to wear in the shared shower). Roommates from all over the world are polite. Follow hostel rules. Enjoy the trip.

Hey!! Great tips!!! One of my tips is, if you get the chance to choose your bed, don´t get one close to the bathroom or the way out door......people come in and out all night. :)

Thank you for the tips. Do you travel alone? i would love to go to another country just myself but since im a female i find that it can be hard since i would be going to another country. Also at the hostels that you have stayed at did you encounter bed bugs, roaches, insects even though it had good reviews?

as an older guy, I travel by myself from Australia, etc you just need to be aware of your surroundings that's probably the best advice I could give you. it's most probably a bit late as you would have had an answer by now

Super useful tips! thank you I have just started with my travel and it has been awesome. Although it's not all happy and exciting. One thing I learned (the hard way) is to bring my own travel sheet/bed liner. I have sensitive skin that even the sheets in the hostels make me itch. argh! It was so frustrating. It was indeed a rain cloud on my travels... Until my friend gave me the Brave Era Travel Sheet for my birthday because probably she got tired of me ranting to her about my allergies. Haha! But damn! it's a lifesaver. It was HEAVEN! First, the sheet was suuuuper soft and it can serve as my shield from itchy sheets and bed bugs too because I was taught the travel sheet can be treated with insect repellent. Just adding in to the tips from what I learned... Happy travels!

What makes a bad hostel bad? I just get this picture of sandy sheets, people wandering around at night, hot rooms, and bugs everywhere. 😱 Or is it just like a hotel?

you find it better booking with the Hostel itself then as far as I know no booking fee like with booking.com. I say this because I had stayed in hostels in america and canada etc

If you are traveling from one city to the next but something happens resulting in you arriving really late, do hostels stay open until they reach max capacity or do they have a standard closing time? I don't want to pay for a place, show up late and get turned down.

Cool tips! I like party hostels from time to time, but I find Drunk people are often a lot less considerate. Also, if it's low season, I don't even book on hostel world and just show up in person at the hostel i researched because this way they don't have to pay the 20% (!) commission which I find ridiculously high.

I'm new to traveling, if you book only 2 days but want to stay longer, aren't most hostiles fully booked?
@FreyaGem
@FreyaGem 5 лет назад
Yep...this is definitely an important consideration in a busy, high-tourism city, like maybe Barcelona for example. If you want a highly rated hostel, they fill up fast! Better to book for the whole time you think you might need, and you can usually cancel or change within 48 hours of your first day.
@holtvln

It definately depends on what country you are in. Europe tends to book up quicker (especially in summer) compared to Asia. I would book my full stay in Europe but only two or three nights in Vietnman. - I spent a year travelling and staying in hostels
@robertgrant1837

@@holtvln how did you find it when your trip was finished for example going back to your job or finding another one. where there times when you wish you were still traveling although a year is a long time to be traveling mind usually only a month cheers
@holtvln

@@robertgrant1837 It was tough coming back home. I luckily found a job right away but I came back from traveling, moved to a new city and started a new job all within 3 weeks of arriving back home. It was definitely overwhelming. Took me a few months to settle back in, but its different for everyone. I'm actually on my first trip since my RTW and it's great to be traveling again. Only 3 weeks but I'll take it

Are those bunk beds small? I'm 6' 4"
@paulvaulker5004

Does anybody experienced know how the following works? I noticed in different booking sites the number of beds left in a dorm differs sometimes by 1 or even 2. Is this an issue? Can it happen that more people book at once at different websites (say there are only 2 beds left) and there is no bed for some of the people that booked? For instance the information doesn't reach the other website in time and the booking is therefore confirmed. Hostelworld claims that their booking is 100% guarantied, does it apply to such a situation as well? Who is responsible for this potential mistake, the hostel itself or the website? The question is whether the mechanism of the beds left indicator is controled by people manually or by AI (a program with an algoritm that indicates the beds left on different sites differently with a special purpose, such as that people can't book the last beds at once, so some of the sites lie to prevent the undesired situation)
@robertgrant1837

your best bet is to book with the actual hostel site e.g Hi Hostels in Canada or America at least you will know whether you can get a bed or not hope this helps

I feel like sex in the same room as other people is probably illegal. I mean that's technically making me a sexual participant without my consent if you ask me.
