@@Scratchingforcashit is the best and only way for vinyl planks. I have 10.000m2 + on my name. The top layer is flexible, the bottom layer is brittle. Of you score the top the bottom layer will snap clean off. If you didn't know you never had one of these planks in your hand.
@@Scratchingforcash only if you're an idiot with a knife then yes. Maybe that's something you wre taught because you don't know how to handle one properly
My thoughts exactly. If this is supposed to "teach" then he should use some sort of board to cut. Not everyone has the experience not to cut all the way through.
Nice trick, but the tighter the curve, the higher is the chance of this not working. Because you effectively change the radius with this spacer. So that the circle of the obstecle and the circle of your cut don't match anymore.
I don't leave expansion gaps everywhere. As long as you leave some gaps in some places you'll be alright. Sometimes the plank has to go directly against the wall or cabinet or whatever to look normal.
I can't say that is always true. We leave gaps all around the room. If it's a tub or door just make it tighter and use clear caulk or the right color... If you don't leave at least a 16th on doors and tubs you will run into problems down the road when seasons change especially if you have trim on the floor after the fact. We have had to fix so many units where the guys slammed the door frame against the floor or even baseboards so tight the floor wouldn't move! HAHAHAH All we had to do was take the baseboard back up and nail it down looser...
You have to keep your scribe piece square with the tile not the object with the curve like this. The steeper the angle the worse the cut will be. Luckily this curve isn't that bad. Try it... There is a gap on the right and tight on the left... This will be exaggerated more and more the more the curve is closer to a circle... What he is doing won't work at all for a circle... Just keep the small scribe piece square to the tile and you can make any shape! I also make sure I cut on the right side of the line...
I guess I'm always installing a more premium vinyl because I can't get my utility knife to reliably cut through it like that and have to use a jigsaw. Utility knives barely scratch the surface of the stuff I usually install. I'm a carpenter and not a homeowner.
That’s all fine and well until you need to change out the toilet, should have removed it and laid the floor down under it. Now he’s stuck with having to find the exact same toilet or relaying the floor to fix the inevitable gaps.
It does expand slightly in sunshine, don't believe the hype! We fitted an entrance floor for a company and told manager we would leave a very small expansion gap because it was in direct sunshine, he said no way, so fitted flush to walls. Next day they couldn't open the front doors to shop as flooring had expanded and lifted, blocking doorway!
We Put over 90'000 Square Feet of Raised Access Flooring In A Office Building In Atlanta back In The 90's And I Laid All of The Cuts Out Just Like That!!
I see a lot of yong people complaining about math class and saying "Why I gave to learn this? I will never use this in my life.". This video shows why you must learn math.
