Sea bass are a favorite catch here in RI. They're literally over-populated, and interfere with the lobster fishery. Our sea bass season runs June to December. Bag limit is only 2 from June through August, but jumps up to 6 starting September 1st before closing on New Years. The fall season, you can literally catch easy double and triple headers. It's not uncommon to catch so many that the boat limits out and we have to start throwing them back.
Great tip , another way to save ones expensive jigs , if your hanged / snagged up , its to drive away in the boat the opposite direction that your at in the water with the boat ..once your by the snag driving away from it ., usually doest it for me ,with jiggs and lures.
Thanks for the tips for bigger fish. Subscribed. As far as releasing the fish when their bladders are expanded, I've been using a device called the seaqualizer. They were giving them away for free for a while, but I think that is over now. There are also some home made versions. They work real well and don't require venting.
Those seaqualizers are very cool, I haven’t had any experience with them but they seem like they would work great. We currently use the fish venting tools but definitely going to look into other options. Thank you for the info!
As with a lot of fishing, it depends! Look for structure and bait where the water temps arent too high. Remember that surface temps will vary greatly from bottom temps
You sure can! Pull out your chart or use navionics and find some good rock piles. The structure talked about in this video can be seen on charts. It might be tougher to find a specific area but most of the time these fish are spread out over a set of structure
