I'm worried I'm making my comic too complicated by trying to combine too many different mythologies for my creatures, but most species will just be mentioned once or twice, not the main characters

Question for anyone to answer... do you think it's okay to use cliches or, stereotypes? Feel free to give two different answers.

Cliches are tools that are used so often that they become predictable. You wouldn’t build a house without a hammer, so don’t worry about writing with cliche; however, at the same time, be aware of them. The beauty of cliches are that they’re recognizable and oftentimes enjoyable/relatable. We know the thing, so we understand it, the pitfall is that they’re predictable. So, look deeper into the cliche, why does it work? How does it work, and then implement it in a more interesting and engaging way. Also, don’t be worried if you don’t have a plan yet. If you write a character who is a model, and acts particularly vain, but you don’t know where to go or how to go deeper with that, don’t sweat it too much. You can figure that out later and write it in in subsequent drafts

I know an amazing video on cliches ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JlpS-LbL-LI.html He kinda rambles in the beginning but it really starts at 1:44. I would really recommend his videos they help with storytelling so much!!
