Dig your style & content! I need to constantly fix mine and kids foamies. Had good success with the hot glue gun for little cuts, thank you so much! But now i have bigger tasks. Catch Surf recommended Gorilla Glue. I noticed the Gorilla Glue variant in your clip is not the right one. It is not water proof, doesn't expand and perhaps is not foam friendly. It has to be the original one, which comes in two variants. One dries brown the other white. Yes confusing ;)

Something didn't feel right about the Gorilla Glue. I believe Catch Surf had repair recommendations on their site and they provided an Item number for the Gorilla Glue. It was foam friendly and that's about it. The repairs did hold up though. Although the glue now is harder and less pliable than cured hot glue. Have you done any repairs with the expanding foam? How is it to work with? Does is stay soft like the surrounding foam?

@@RiderShack Thanks for your reply. Catch Surf answered, if Gorilla is being used it has to be the "Original". It is foam friendly, waterproof and expands. I just finished a larger project on my Log, a massive cut. I had no access to Gorilla and surf was up, so I used 3M 5200 to fill in the void and hot glue to seal the surface. It worked quite well.

The hotglue fix is the go to for fixing soft top dings. Near instant cure, easy to remove if your not satisfied, cheap, and forgiving. Pro tip; get parchment paper for baking to lay over your fresh glue to ensure a flat, peelable, form fitting surface that you can hand mold if your adhesive starts to run.

Hola.

Hi There, I have a different issue with my softboard: delamination on the upside - because of heat ;-) And also there is little water inside since i ignored a few little holes for a while. So my questions are: 1.) How to dry out the board (can I probably open the delaminated area with a carpet knive??) 2.) How to fix the delaminated area (with hot glue pistol?? Or silicon??)
@RiderShack
@RiderShack Месяц назад
You can cut open the delam and let it dry out. I'd first attempt to fix with silicone. I think the hot glue would set too fast. I've not tried it before so let us know how it goes.

Nice video Bro, I have 2 questions 😂 1-how do you treat or repair cracks on the harder plastic on the bottom? 2-can I paint my soft top board?
@RiderShack
@RiderShack Год назад
For a crack on the bottom I would use Ding Tape or clear packing tape. That would probably yield the same results as using glue but for a lot less effort. I don't think paint will stick. You could probably "Sharpie" the bottom and that will last. Maybe put a clear coat on top to protect it.

What glue is good for delam? The heat in my car got it
@RiderShack
@RiderShack 2 месяца назад
The gorilla glue is probably the best glue for a delam. You'd have to check out some other youtube vids on how to repair it though (I usually just let delams be).

I attempted to repair bubbled deck on my softech board with foam safe gorilla glue. The bubbled area is bubbled up and hardened. After applying glue I pressed bubble down to dry. What did I do wrong?
@RiderShack
@RiderShack Год назад
My best guess is that even though you used 'foam safe' glue there was still an adverse reaction between the glue and foam.

My fin box dilodged out of foam board, with fin (kids!! Standing on board while on beach shore then lifting abd twisting it while fin somewhat buried. SO WHAT NOW?! It had 1 or 2 screws into inner foam. I feel like i should be able to just glue or foam fill/glue etc. SO, i heaR u all saying HOT GLUE and Gorilla Original. I have gorilla. What is hot glue? Brand? Do i need a gun? Is there a certain kind? We have a crafting glue gun: good enough?
@RiderShack
@RiderShack 4 месяца назад
Did the screws break? If not you can usually just tighten them down. If the crews did break you'll probably need replacement fin. I'm not sure how long Gorilla glue would hold up in this case but if it's foam safe I'd give it a try. Hot glue as I know it is what gets applied with a small pistol looking applicator and has a glue stick tube that pops out the back.

Hi I started surfing about a month ago and brought my own soft top foam board but I have no idea when to de-wax it. I only surf once or twice a week so how often do you guys think I should de-wax my board?
@ginganinga112
@ginganinga112 2 года назад
I don't ever dewax my foamie, just keep adding more. If you're riding twice a week then should be fine I guess
@RiderShack
@RiderShack 2 года назад
I wouldn't waste time trying to de-wax your foamie. Just add a light coat before each session. It doesn't take much. If you feel you need to de-wax it though just warm up the wax in the sun and use wax remover to get as much as you can off.
@OceaNadav
@OceaNadav Год назад
@@RiderShack when the temprature of the water changes I need to de-wax as much as I can and put another layer of wax on top and when the temp comes back do it again and rinse and repeat? Bcz I saw diff wax has diff temp on them
@RiderShack
@RiderShack Год назад
@@OceaNadav Correct. When the water temp changes you should consider removing the wax from your board and apply new base and top coat. However I'm kind of lazy and I usually don't de-wax my board going from summer/fall to winter. I just apply the softer top coat to the harder wax underneath it.

I left mine inside the car. I have a soft board. And it swelled a bubble of the size of two hands. Near the rail. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks a lot.
@RiderShack
@RiderShack Год назад
If it's not in a critical part of the board I wouldn't touch it. Usually the fix buys you a little time but ultimate the bubble just keeps growing. With that being said. You can peel back the delam, apply some gorilla glue or soft phix to the foam, pull the deck layer tight over the repair area tape it down and apply light pressure. Once the glue has cured I'd put another layer of glue over the seam.
