Some job descriptions have very long and specific qualification requirements. How can one make sure that all the keywords included, highlight accomplishments, and still be concise?

Focus more on the more technical or skill based qualifications as the major keywords. Some of the longer JD's tend to have a lot of "filler content" like "must be a team player" which aren't going to be important keywords

I am trying to make my resume 2 column(As I think it would suit me), but the text file as suggested by you reads headings like "PROJECTS (heading) --> PROGRAMMING PROFILES(heading) ---> description about my project --> my programming profiles" instead of "PROJECTS(heading) --> description about my project --> PROGRAMMING FILES(heading) ---> my programming profiles. So should I change the formatting from 2 columns to 1 Column Resume or is there any other I should continue? As i Have used emphasized words but my order of explaining things is disordered in .TXT file.

Simpler is usually better when it comes to resume formatting. I would use a traditional format without columns. Also, you lose a lot of space on the page when you use columns.

1. What is the % match score on ATS that can be considered a pass? 2. What is the easiest way to edit or match your CV to the Job description? Like if i want to do it in minutes.. 3. Is there any free software or website which is reliable for me to check my CV match before applying? 4. I usually apply to small and medium enterprises online. Does it mean that every online application means that the company has ATS? 5. Does applying through email mean my CV will be subjected to ATS? How do I know that my application will go through ATS or that the company uses ATS to shortlist?

Use the same job title they do and as many of the role related keywords 3. jobscan 4. every company who accepts online apps has an ATS but not all ATS use bots to scan resumes 5. How do you apply through email? Either way, the recruiter will need to manually upload your resume to their ATS system.

In Resume if we add the time period of a work as from march 2020 - present will the ATS recognise it ? Will it calculate the duration as 1 year ? Can you please clarify my doubt

I've read that .pdf and .docx can cause problems with some ATSs, they recommend only .txt or .doc. Is that true???

No, you should use .doc or PDF files. Don't use .txt. Recruiters won't know how to read a txt file

I ran my resume through an ATS system and the score was in the 20s. I know the resume is good becuase top professionals in my field have similar resumes and have critiqued and help improve it. I am guilty of having columns and that may be the issue. I'm going to remove it and try it again today. Thanks!

Your ATS won't reject your resume. If your resume is good and approved by your peers then keep it. Biggest mistake you can do is to try and use ATS tests on Google and then format all the "keywords" you need in it. Collums can be an issue but if you are using LinkedIn to apply then that won't be an issue since nost of those just send your profile over

I personally don't think there is a downside to using PDF's, they're the safest bet so your formatting doesn't get messed up

Thanks! I think the audio shifts to only one speaker after my introduction, and I'm not sure why. For my other videos I've fixed it!

Thanks Erfan, we've tried watching this video on PC and mobile and the audio is still understandable at the 1 minute mark. It moves more toward one of the speakers/earphones but I think that's from the editing software. Will work on it for the next video!

When you save the file or export it, you can choose "plain txt" as your file type. When you do that, you can see how your resume looks to the ATS systems

Can’t you just use white font for dumb key words so it doesn’t show up on resume but will be picked up by ATS

you could, but if you already meet the criteria, why do you need to hide it?

Should be! Although I wouldn't get too creative with your resume, your portfolio should speak for your creative work

0:39 Novoresume charges money to remove columns from their free templates. Cunning... 1:24 If the ATS will rank the candidates by manually provided keywords, then the "Jobscan"(a website) is redundant. Because it wants you to put lots of weird words that the employer will not provide manually 3:30 You should include the "month" info. Assume that you worked at a company for 3 months; would you write "2016 - 2016"? This will not give a clear information to the ATS. What is your opinion?

@@CareerShakers I tried on many systems. All of them requires months, since it is logical already; some of them even requires days, but I think it is too much...Summary: ATS will not be able to calculate your true amount of experience, without the "month" info
