Wow these are some world class tips you are giving out. I have a foot injury at the moment because of making this exact mistake. I will start working on what you said about bringing the toes up for the low and mid kicks, and allowing them to point for the high kicks. Just when you think youre finally levelling up you discover a plethora a new things you're still doing wrong :D

@@heatrick What about jamming your toes!? Not only that but you're off balance while kicking & are subject to severe punishment... That's why round style kicks are something I'd prefer to avoid unless a really good opportunity comes up like they are stunned/on defense
@heatrick
@heatrick 3 месяца назад
@@Dan0rioN If you correct your kicking range, you'll minimise jamming your toes/injuring your foot. Yes, any kicking involves compromising your balance (you're standing on one foot!) and requires a compromise of risk vs reward. Your relative (technical and tactile) skill level determines what this means for you against your current opponent.

@@heatrick I wouldn't want to be balancing on one foot near an opponent.. Easy take down... That & they could always range shift back

Thanks a lot for this, I keep messing up my foot because of this I definitely gotta drill it like you said.

It’ll take some drilling to reprogram your habit… but it’s well worth it. 😁👊

Yesterday I hit my training partner's knee with my index toe. Now it's dislocated. I came from kickboxing too and it has been hard to use the correct muay thai foot position. No one teaches this. Thank you

Amazingly detailed content and explanations. Watching your stuff feels like I finally got the missing pieces of a puzzle I've been struggling with for years but didn't put too much thought into certain details. A lesson learned long time ago but never finished to the full extent. You make things make sense!

Good one, just damaged my insole after a training, gonna practice your tips once I recover. Btw, you got a video about recovering injuries? (like the insole one?)

Although I don’t have a video on recovering from injury, here are a couple of helpful articles: heatrick.com/2013/05/28/thai-boxer-down-injuries/ heatrick.com/2013/07/29/tag-team-physical-therapystrength-conditioning/ And a video looking at restoring the sole of your foot specifically here: heatrick.com/2020/04/22/muay-thai-soft-tissue-work-foot-release-short-foot-exercise/

Thanks for this. I want to do Muay Thai, but am only months in and have already had 2 bad sprains. My frame of reference has been kicking a football, which demonstrably doesn't work 😕

Hey, could you do a video about your opinion on the use of reflex ball training for Muay Thai? I use them to train my teeps, knees and elbows, and I was wondering if doing that could mess up my technique.

How far up the shin is the perfect spot for a low kick? - Thanks.
@heatrick
@heatrick 8 месяцев назад
For me, whenever possible I like to land with the extreme end of the shin, close to the foot. Because it’s the highest velocity part of the limb, furthest from the centre of rotation/pivot point. 💥👌
