If you're wondering how you can get better at Halo Infinite then you need to improve your strafe. I go through helpful tips that will get you strafing like an Onyx player. Fellow Onyx player here, this video is amazing. If I were to give anyone else reading this a tip at all, it would be to focus primarily on your own aim. I have noticed that strafing matters way less when you can aim perfectly. Most players will not hit all of there shots, they will naturally miss a few but if you learn to aim more and get that hit % up it pays off.

I've noticed this as well. I played today and only focused on my aim and it seems to work. I basically shadow my opponent and keep up with my aim and most of the time I win the battle. I might throw a crouch in there to throw them of but thats all I will do.

@@zStC1 Crouching when your shields are up isn't a problem since headshots don't do any extra damage against shields, headshots only count after shields get destroyed, but cause of the crouch there's a chance you'll dodge a burst.

This is on point. Just a quick tip. I win most of my BR battles by being super aggressive. Good moments to include jumps are when you’re jumping off of objects. Most players do not have high vertical sensitivity so if you can jump off a box or ledge mid battle they will miss. Also if you start missing shots, don’t be scared to just stop shooting and get your aim together. Good Strafing will buy you that time.

You can be super aggressive, but you also have to have good aim. Without it, aggression will get you wasted pretty quick in my experience. Sometimes it’s better just to hang back a bit or retreat to regain shields. Playing at any decent level will also get you owned if you stop shooting to get your shit together, but it’s good tips to use until you get to that high level.

Sometimes I will act like I'm strafing with the 1st couple steps, but then I let my move go to a dead stop, and it wins me BR battles because it psychs some players out as if I wasn't playing 😂

If by paddles you mean the extra buttons on some controllers then I don't actually use mine, I would map the buttons that you find the most awkward to press, or the ones that get you to remove your thumb of the stick

of course i had these things in my mind somewhere before watching your video; but now that i've watched it i realize how much more effort i can be putting into my game if i really want to up my performance a lazy approach wont cut it, i'll work on finding and implementing strafe combos and stop brainlessly playing the way i do now LOL

1:48 elite V2, BB, or scuf controller is perfect for this, allows mapping all the face buttons to paddles, never have to move your thumb from either stick and don't need to swap to bumper jumper

Years ago I tried bumper jumper. At first it felt awful but then improved my game. A decade later I'm trying your control scheme and though I'm not good at it yet, I can already tell it's gonna be my next default control scheme.

I also switched to it yesterday after playing like 20 years on the old schoo defaultl H3 button layout for practically every game ever and oh boy this is difficult lol I keep dying a lot cuz of wrong button presses. I don't use his btw but very similar.

Currently 1700 Onyx player and climbing, my tip is always to just practice your fundamentals. That is, aiming and positioning. Strafing is a key componentponent to surviving but players who did that crouch strafing against me always lost and all I did was normal strafe. It's all about just your overall accuracy. Don't overthink it or overplay it sometimes. Great aiming, composure and being ready in the right position make a big difference. You don't always want to be running, you want to have your gun ready at chest level. Body, body body head.

It's kind of like an art, it depends on the player but I understand what you mean, even me sometimes switching to a simple strafe during a game can improve my performance, sometimes a simple strafe doesn't work and I have to use an advanced strafe, but both work well. Thanks for your tip!

People always say "positioning" but what does that even mean? I know it means be in the right place at the right time and that's typically high ground but I mean... how the hell does one know "when is the correct position at the correct time" without going back into theatre and seeing where exactly everyone is and you should have been at one time. It's just a guessing game.

@@Mike_Wazowskii7 Yea high ground is always important, I think positioning is not just about your position but being aware of where you team-mates are and attacking with them instead of your own. Someone that's good at positioning takes spots where they can see most of the map and shoots at anyone that moves, even if you get 1 burst into someone across the map, that burst could win your team-mate the gun fight.

Some people are just born cracked at this game while others will never get half as good regardless of practice.

I genuinely don't think mini strafe juking is even worth doing in this game with how strong the auto-follow aim assist is. I've found mixing up long strafes to be the only thing actually worth a damn. This is coming from a Mouse and Keyboard second class citizen at Diamond 4 on crossplay.

I like how you switched Jump with crouch...that damn instant reaction to jump in my game is killing me😂I do have zoom on my R3 so I'm not sure where to remove jump and replace it..would be awkward to do L3

Great video. I feel like my strafe is too predictable. I try mixing it up but in the heat of battle I revert to just short strafes. I was high diamond/low onyx player in H5 but this game is taking me a while to master. I’m mid plat nowadays.

I fall for the same trap, sometimes if my normal strafe isn't working i switch to crouch strafing, in some games that also doesn't work then I try to focus on good left and right movement. There's nothing wrong with switching it up, it's good to recognize that you need to try something new.

I hear people say to strafe around unpredictably to make your opponent miss their shots. I also hear people say to match your opponent's strafe to minimize the amount of right stick movement. These two pieces of advice are in direct conflict with each other and I'm never sure where I should stand on that.

Both of these techniques work, it just depends on your playstyle. If you miss your shots when you strafe a lot, then try the other method

i've been using my right analogue stick to crouch and slide, does this matter i've noticed for helljumper and buttonjumper it's on the left analogue stick. I'm playing with a new controller that has buttons on the back now on button puncher with a button for jump and the other for melee. I'm in diamod 2.

I personally wouldn't use crouch or even jump on the aiming stick because it can throw your aim off, if your aim doesn't mess, you can still use it

The best shooters just shoot strafing should be instinctual although there ARE situations where an odd long strafe or crouch means getting the kill and living halo’s just such a skill intensive game when everyones connection is rather even its a beautiful dance.

Yea some people have really good aim so they can use simpler strafes and some people prefer to use more complex strafes in order to live longer, it's all about finding the perfect combination for your play-style

That's surprising to hear, the aim assist on Halo Infinite is weaker than previous Halo's, In my onyx lobbies it's rare to see someone that DOESN'T crouch shot, but it does depend on playstyle, some people do better when they don't crouch

I would still try to implement this techniques in your strafe, if you struggle with the crouching on MKB then just doing a good left and right strafe combo can be really really effective.

I hit Gold rank and then started losing constantly. Think I found my ability limit in Silver Also I have not noticed this game having any kind of noticeable aim assist in Multiplayer. Maybe it can't make up for my ultra-noob play LOL.

i recently switched from console to pc controller, the aim assist you get on pc is ridiculously high. went from stuck in diamond 1-2 to few games away from onyx in a weeks time

So you're saying I should crouch to steady my aim? Pfft. Not a chance. I have VERY severe ADHD I take 8 pills a day for it each either the highest legal dosage or just below it. I've learned to harness my ADHD for sporadic quick movement that they NEVER expect while at the same time I swing my camera back and forth to counter my movement therefore almost always being on target

i disagree with both of your points, strafeing does matter and your data doesnt tell the whole story. you can clearly tell the difference of a onxy rank strafe and a platinum strafe i get very little aim assist to the point i stopped playing on console. i still have above 50% accuracy and 74% headshot accuracy but negative KD … i have to slowdown my shots to be accurate but theres been so many times i only fired 3 shots and the enemy 4
