Adjust Offset from Path: Select the railing. Find the offset tool in the properties. Adjust the value to move the railing among stairs. Negative value pushes the railing exterior. Activate Railing Preview: Navigate to the Modify tab. Check the preview box. Start drawing boundary lines to see a 3D preview efficiently. Post Railings to Slope Walls and Floors: While creating a railing, click on pick new host. Select a wall or a floor to host your railing. Railing will automatically adjust to the slope of the selected element. Customize Top Rail Extensions: Activate the top rail. Click to change the type and set a profile (e.g., circular 30 mm). Set the extension style (e.g., wall, floor, or post). Adjust distances as needed. Adjust Height and Clearance of Rails: Go to the handrail type. Select the desired height and hand clearance. Set the height for the top rail. Customize Baluster Placement and Pattern: Edit the type of baluster placement. Set base and top constraints. Adjust distance between each baluster. Choose justification type (e.g., spread pattern, center). Use Project Browser to Find All Railing Parts: Access the project browser. Navigate to the railing submenu. Find handrails, balusters, supports, top rails, and railings easily. Select Specific Railing Parts Individually: Click on the railing. Use the tab key to cycle through different parts. Select and modify specific parts like top rails, handrails, and supports. Adjust Supports Position: Select the support. Unpin it if necessary. Use the move command to adjust its position as needed. Create Glazed Railings Using Curtain Walls: Design a curtain wall with suitable vertical spacing. Add a railing with a compatible handrail type. Ensure the handrail fits with the curtain wall railing. Customize Top Rail Extension Shapes: Edit the top rail. Click on edit rail and then edit path. Draw the desired shape for the extension profile. Confirm the changes to apply the custom shape.

you should prepare a video of how railing connections are made. railings do often fail to follow stairs. there is no video about when or why and how to avoid them.

it's amazing professional clear detailed tutorial. thank you but I've a question : can't we just make that c-shape extension style without those three steps?!
this is brilliant, however does anyone out there have a solution for simple af, solid glass handrails? By that, i mean glass handrails that can fold around corners / move and down stair stringers without going completely haywire?
can u pls explain ,In Baluster placement, why that start pattern and end patterns are N/A & distance from previous is only editable in end pattern why cant in start pattern ,,if possible how to activate that distance from previous in start pattern
Just to let you know i am from austria so i am not sure if the terms i use now are correct. I have a coiled staircase and want to have a railing on the inside. the first staircase reaches from the basement to the ground level and the next staircase from the ground level to the first upper floor. the staircases are the exact same and in the same position but at the top of each staircase the railing is too high and i don't know at all how to fix that. another thing is i also don't know if it is possible to connect them on the ground level because otherwise there would be a gap. would be nice if you know a solution to that. (btw i am still in school so i don't have any experience with revit)
Hi Anne, thanks for your comment. Watching back the video, I agree it might be a little too fast. Try following along with the blog post: revitpure.com/blog/14-tips-to-understand-revit-railings
