No diet is perfect but there are some things we can do to lead healthier lives and that includes educating ourselves on processed foods. Registered dietitian nutritionist, Jaime Bachtell-Shelbert sat down with us to break it all down.
i know dried fruit isn't the greatest because of sugar content, but isn't it better than the alternative of eating the ultra processed bag of chips? my thought is if you make eating too restrictive then you won't stick to the eating plan.
Hydrogenated oil has been an added unnecessary ingredient in peanut butter (except natural) and it inflames the GI tract, resulting in abdominal pain, and worse. Read labels good people, and stay away from fast food too.
@elizizzo Jif peanut butter has added sugar and other oils to it for many years. I typically buy peanut butter with only two ingredients (i.e. peanuts and Salt) such as smuckers which is much cleaner and healthier.
@@davidlamb369 i read the hell out of ingredients now. i use almond butter and my thing is what in the hell is palm oil doing in almond butter? i get the one from sams or costco. just almonds and salt or no salt.
@@davidlamb369 I had recently been to a Kroger owned store and saw even the “healthier” choices had added sugar. That’s terrible to hear about Jif. Pretty sure I saw Simple Truth brand had sugar. I usually only check seed kinds - like sunflower seed butter for sugar. Now I know I need to check ALL seed and nut butters.
