Your long downhill section shows that this model is rather better at storing the spare energy compared with the older one, given that the traction battery has a higher capacity. The previous one would fully charge it before the bottom of a hill like that.

Great video. I'm collecting my Yaris Cross next month and I love watching videos like this. Currently I have a 1.0 litre ecoboost Fiesta which gives me an average 37mpg.

You will definitely get a better fuel economy from your Yaris cross than your eco boom fiesta

I have locked the car, but a constant red light flashes with an open padlock symbol when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. Any tips?

That was an excellent video Paul. It was exactly what we needed to hear concerning driving a hybrid. I've watched loads of POV videos on the GR, but none have given such an in depth commentrry on a real journey. Thanks again. Now would it be possible for you to make do a journey that takes in some motorway driving in future ? Thanks again Jim

Great video and very informative. Question as someone who’s new to hybrids and automatics should I drive in D or B mode? Thanks
@paul_nwsxs
@paul_nwsxs 5 месяцев назад
D for normal driving, b I use in stop and start traffic or to control my speed going down hills There is a video explaining the usage of d & b mode buried on the channel, can’t remember if it’s in the GR or my old dynamic

Hello Can you tell me again how you get energy screen displaying on display next to speedometer. I can’t find the information that you went into in depth . I have got Yaris cross excel on order, I tried to download owners handbook but website wanted vin no. But of coarse I don’t have this yet. I am 74 so it takes me a bit longer to understand things Thanks Alastair

I'm waiting for my 2023 gr sport hybrid in galactic blue toyota said will be ready by 31st of July,I've always had high performance cars audi rs4 bmw m3 subaru impreza wrx sti Mitsubishi evo focus rs etc,I'm so excited to drive something what is fuel efficient,how many miles would a full tank of fuel do,I'm used to getting about 80 to 150 if I was lucky
@paul_nwsxs
@paul_nwsxs Год назад
Depends on how you drive, anything between 350 to 400 miles between fuel light to fuel light , they only hold 36 litres and I find my light comes on after using 29 litres leaving a good amount in reserve, it’s also dependent on outside temperatures, so in the winter you’ll might only get 350 miles and as the temperature rises the range will increase
@grime18marchy52
@grime18marchy52 Год назад
@North Wales SXS I appreciate your advice going from something like my rs4 costing over £150 for a full tank and getting 100 miles if I was lucky,even 300 on a 36 litre tank is beyond amazing,for some reason when ordering mine they don't do the two-tone paint anymore you only get gloss black spoiler, grills,mirrors,wheels and fog surrounds,but I know there's a new feature with the my t app what you download on your phone and can start your engine lock unlock the doors etc off your phone does yours have this

I’m looking forward to getting myne, they look very comfortable to drive, how many miles roughly is a full bar of battery? Just using the electric that is?
@paul_nwsxs
@paul_nwsxs Год назад
I think i show in the video that the range on pure electric is around a mile in the driving conditions I drive in But it’s not point of a Toyota Hybrid car It’s a combination of electric and petrol power that makes these cars so good on the petrol that they have to use

I'm thinking of buying a yaris cross gr sport. Would this be as good as what you drive.
@paul_nwsxs
@paul_nwsxs Год назад
Probably not as dynamic to drive as GR Sport Yaris I’ve only driven 1 Yaris cross and that was an excel and it was lovely to drive, easy to get in and out, lots more space It’s a small suv so a totally different driving experience But still an amazing car that i would recommend if I needed a larger vehicle
@JohnBates-yi7xg
@JohnBates-yi7xg Год назад
Thanks for your reply.I watch all your clips on the GR Sport which looks a great car but I do need a bit bigger car,the yaris cross looks perfect for me.

Definitely a great choice of car the Yaris cross if a bigger car is required

What’s your thoughts on using premium unleaded like Shell V power etc instead of regular unleaded. Is it better for the engine and does it improve fuel economy.
@paul_nwsxs
@paul_nwsxs Год назад
I’ve tried both e10 and v power It’s not worth spending the extra on v power it doesn’t give you any more fuel economy , not even worth the extra cost I ran my 2020 dynamic on e10 for over 50000 miles never missed a beat I’m running my GR Sport on e10 and she is running amazing
@thomaselwood12
@thomaselwood12 Год назад
E5 (premium unleaded) will give you better economy and a little more power. Unfortunately this is now only sold as the expensive stuff. Ethanol has less enery potenetial than petroleum hence the E10 stuff not being as good.
@johnkeepin7527
@johnkeepin7527 Год назад
Although premium unleaded does have a bit more energy per litre than E10, it’s probably not worth paying for, unless you are concerned about the “shelf life” of E10 - which is not very long, before some of the ethanol settles out from the mixture. Some places quote about 90 days. If there is a lot of moist air in the system, it could result in a mixture of ethanol and water, which would settle at the bottom of the container; not nice.
@paul_nwsxs
@paul_nwsxs Год назад
My e10 doesn’t get a chance to go off as I do around 450 miles a week in my car Did run 3 tanks of v power and the difference in extra fuel economy was so small it justify the extra cost
