Agree, I stay mostly in Eco and drive mostly in a city on flat terrain. It’s so easy and smooth. Tend to use Normal on motorways so the responsiveness is there if I suddenly need it. Occasionally use Power mode for having fun on twisty lanes. Don’t think it’s a huge difference but I can pretend I’m in my 2002 Honda Civic again! The Yaris is such an all-rounder. I keep the Eco climate control on permanently as it always gets to a comfortable temperature with maximum MPG.
iv,e owned 5 toyota hybrid cars now and each generation gets better and better , the one we are using now in the yaris hybrids is the latest version and the beast so far , i,ve had a gen 2 prius on gen 2 hybrid and 2 mk 3 yaris hybrid both using gen 3 hybrid and now my second mk 4 yaris both on the latest hybrid system Brilliant cars
Thanks great tip on eco mode , 👍 I was mistaking thinking normal mode was the best ! But there again the is my first hybrid , so without your channel, I'm learning at at snails pace , but thanks for my learning process 😊, as I'm not ready the bloody manual manual. Cheers j
Agreed. I always left my 2017 one in eco mode all the time. The air conditioning on these is powered by high voltage dc, essentially independent of the engine, no direct mech link from it, which might be unusual to those not used to them.
The computer power required for these cars to function is amazing, everything integrated into every other system to help make the cars more efficient and easier to operate
When I got my Mk.3 Yaris Hybrid I was skeptical about what was said about ECO mode. I found that not only does it change the feel of the throttle, but it changes the ratio of MG2 to ICE input to the wheels, increasing cruise economy. On a flat road at constant throttle and speed of 50 MPH, changing the mode from NORM to ECO makes a huge difference to economy. On the Mk.3 it is also supposed to affect the air con. It seems to only affect the AC (cooling) side. The heater seems unaffected, but this seems to have changed on the Mk.4.
Thanks for the info, just come across your videos and subscribed, i have a 2016 Yaris Hybrid so just learning hybrid. I leave it on eco but do struggle to understand EV mode as the handbook doesn't really explain it well. Sometimes i push the EV mode button and it just bleeps and does nothing and sometimes i see the EV mode displayed. If you can do a demo on EV mode that would be great, I have just watched your explanation on B mode and you explained it well. Thanks Les
I’ve found that I use Eco for pottering about (which is most of the time), Power for when I’m being a bit of an idiot on my fav roads. Yet I never tend to select normal mode lol
Thanks a lot, got the message on my toyota app to try it so will do so. What is the eco mode on the screen for (the area where you do the heating /air con etc.)?
I think you’re on about the eco fast button on ac control panel If so The eco button puts the ac into an eco mode that doesn’t use as much power as the normal mode
It’s an led unit, I’d recommend going to Toyota and getting a warranty claim on it.I’ve found pictures on eBay and it’s looking like a complete unit , www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166281989904?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HfwKYbHdT1K&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=za6asjqgSfq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY The car is covered by a 10 year warranty so it should be covered under warranty
