I purchased the same model in December after seeing it advertised on sale at FFF... I had originally wanted the GI spec WWII version, but this was the model they had in stock and on sale... I researched Tisas 1911s beforehand and found lots of positive feedback, so I decided it was a deal I simply couldn't afford to pass up.... and I was right, this pistol is an absolutely incredible value. It's not cheap, it's a high quality piece at an insane bargain of a price. The WWII version differs from the Service Special in the roll marks, spurred hammer. the thumb safety, the curved mainspring housing with laynard loop, non flared ejection port, and sights... Though my SS has an anomaly, the rear sight is the WWII low profile version while the front sight is the serrated slope, like yours is and all Service Specials... The Service Special really is just their regular 1911A1 Service model, with a rowel hammer and the GI cerakote finish, which I really dig... as opposed to black finish, chromed barrel and spur hammer... At the end of the day, they're all coming out of the same factory and being finished to specification... Tisas makes a very solid 1911 and I'm blown away by the quality. I wanted just a bare bone, plain Jane, GI spec 1911, and I got it and couldn't be happier with it. Still kinda want that curved mainspring housing just for the aesthetic, but flat is fine... Nostalgia aside, think the Service Special features are actually an improved modern bare bones service style 1911, with the flared ejection port, rowel hammer and slightly larger thumb safety... and 8 rd mags. I suppose the sights too, but mine is mixed. Great video, I been waiting for someone for put one up for this model and you nailed it.

I have 3 of Tisas' 1911's, the Govt. in 45, the SS Commander in 45 and the 9mm Commander...the Govt is lethal accurate! added a beveled mag well, extended slide release, full length guide rod and a National Match barrel bushing polished to a mirror finish (it worked great with the factory bushing and recoil spring, I just had the parts on hand!) Remarkable pistol! The 9mm had extraction problems so I replace it with a Wilson Combat, it too has a guide rod, beveled mag well and extended slide release, runs like a rabbit now. And my favorite is the SS Commander with the same additions as the other two, it's an absolute Beast! this money was well spent, some people had difficulties with early models but these 3 have been total Home Runs for me! I also changed the grips on them because the factory ones are simplistic and can be slippery if your hands get sweaty. The price for each pistol is what really made them worth it!!!

I got mine about 2 weeks ago. The Zig thing is gone from under the bottom. I bought wooden double diamond grips for mine. Also going to change the flat main spring housing for an arched one. @DLordSadow
@DLordSadow Год назад
The plastic grips are accurate reproductions of the period grips of a WW2 1911a1. That’s what this gun is and why it is such a bare bones and almost primitive seeming gun. It’s not intended to be modern in any way (other than the way it was manufactured). When it comes to getting any other 1911s, don’t get a Kimber or a Colt. Their 1911s are crap (and really overpriced when it comes to Colt). Go with Springfield, Dan Wesson, Bul Armory, & Wilson Combat.

I've been wanting to get one "cheap," but the exposure has driven the price up. Even second-hand pawn shop prices in the Florida panhandle are nearly the same as brand new ... SO, that's what I did. Ordered the "new" 1911A1 U S Army through a local store. The original SDS Tisas 1911A1 with the plastic grips is discontinued and replaced with "double diamond." Turkish Walnut wood grips. Other minor changes, but basically the same pistol with the same quality. Just more money. It will complement my CMP acquired Service Grade 1943 Remington Rand . M1911A1.

"Safety First!". In the owner's manual there is a warning that the Tisas 1911A1 not be used with 45 ACP +P ammo. The same warning comes with their 9 mm version 1911, as well as their copy of the Browning Hi-Power in 9 mm. No where on the gun itself is this important information marked. This has already been noted in the NRA periodical "The American Rifleman". Thanks!

Lmbo not rated for +p or +p+?Hammer forged frame, slide and barrel isn't +p+ rated?🤔 We'll we should certainly take that to heart and I'm sure the hammer forged steel in these somehow is lacking carbon or something? Yeah nah it's a buttcover is all, I'm betting if I'm owning it, just imo. See the original design of the J.M.B. action 1911 in 45acp should be capable of withstanding pressures far exceding that of the very tame and neutered 45acp loading not to mention any variant of +p or +p+. Personally I wouldn't sweat it but that's me imo and understanding. See for liability reasons sure yeah no don't dare try a +p or anything in this as it may detonate in one's hands right straight away just being chambered let alone fired. Stay safe
