Tiswas: Then and Now. 📺 GOSH... what a blast 💥 from the Past!! It was manic and hilarious 😂🤣 If I remember correctly, Trevor East was a dedicated Derby County supporter ⚽️Peter Thomlinson was a continuity announcer for ATV. I remember Lenny Henry in the forgotten Situation Comedy 🎭 “The Fosters.” Wonderful Memories...🥧😃
Us Midlanders, in the ATV region, had Tiswas a good 3 years before it was networked out to the rest of the UK. It was less manic in those days but still a lot of fun.
TISWAS- punk TV for kids! (I'm finding it hard to believe that Bob Carolgees was only on for two years- he left such a lasting impression that it seemed like he was on the show for *much* longer!) 🍄
John Gorman now looks like the Aston Villa assistant Gary McAllister and Lenny was born round the corner from my grannie in Blackacre Road! Happy days!
Me and 3 rugby playing flat sharers in London watched every Saturday before the game. Went to the live show in Victoria, London.Singing 'Far Canal' whilst drenched was a highlight. Brilliant TV.
After a *lot* of searching, and no small amount of frustration, I've finally managed to find out that Fogwell Flax (real name Leonard Lloyd) was born in 1952, and is currently 71 years of age. 👍 🍄
The colossus of Saturday morning telly. Nothing before or after came anywhere near. Keys face it, any show that gets Spike Milligan, Palin and Jones off Python, and Frank Carson doing sketches is on to a winner. Oh to rewind to Saturday mornings like that.
Used to watch Swap Shop until 10:30 then turn over to ATV Land for the real Saturday morning show which took us up to World Of Sport at 12:30. I loved Dickie on a Saturday. Still do..😂😂
Used to go out on the piss Friday night and come Saturday morning watch Multi Coloured Swap Shop at 9 .30 on B.B.C. 1 and switch over to Tiswas on I.T. V at 10 oclock because it was crazier and funnier . Nearly always watched it with a hangover from the night before . Happy days the 70's .
There used to be a 'compost corner' in many a boozer in the 1970s and 80s in homage to TISWAS. Sally James in tight blue jeans and black boots ........ gasp.
I was 13 when Sally James joined the show, did my raging hormones no good whatsoever and looking at her now she could still get them raging....as soon as I can find them !
@@markhemming318 It's so sad. The new tech zombie generation have been robbed of a childhood. By being taught to grow up to fast and force fed tech. Anything outside of their media tech is irrelevant. We used to play 40 saves all. Hide n seek. Make dens and dams in the streams. Make tree houses. Play in mud and climb trees. Go bike riding and collect nuts and apples and play on computer games on a rainy day and even air guns and catapults. Marbles ... Conkers. Bows n arrows.... The lists almost endless . That's what I remember when I look back. Wtf will they have to look back at....feck all but media tech.
If ITV ever make a series about how TISWAS was created, the actor Jonny McPherson (Emmerdale), should play Peter Tomlinson, as he looks & sounds like him. The way he says, "Compost corner", in the episode broadcast on November 4th 2021, sounded just like a TISWAS moment!
I remember her presenting Saturday Scene on ITV Saturday mornings pre Tiswas around 1973. That was when children's TV really got started. Lovely lady then as now. ❤
It seems like yesterday we were watching this, my brother and I used to argue with our other sister over swap shop which was on the other channel or tizwaz, we usually won.
loved this but due to pc world you'd never get away with this today ,imagine the uproar with a kid getting hit by the bucket of water and the phantom flan flinger ,happy days
Did your parents make you watch that multi coloured swap shop crap then? How I pity you, did you have to be tortured by Blue Peter as well? I was a Magpie kid.
