Thanks! I'm glad it was useful. I hope they get it back in stock soon! Gotta love this crazy COVID environment where it's so hard to get fitness equipment!
Awesome video and beautiful gym. I just bought the crossover machine from titan for $500 but I think this was a better buy! Would you be able to go into detail how you mounted it to your power rack instead of the wall? I want to with my power rack but it is by Bodycraft so I don't know if the titan tower will be compatabile
Funny thing is if titan "address" those issues then the price would go up. There's a reason why the quality isn't all that great like some commercial gym pulleys. Still a good review. Now I definitely know that I want one for my garage gym. 👍
Yes that's true that Titan makes equipment to meet a low price point so that it more accessible to a larger portion of the market. That's their model. Personally I really like what Titan's doing. Overall, I really love the pulley tower. I use it all the time and it gives me so many different movement options. I'm glad the video was helpful 👍👍
The bearings are not plastic. Those plastic/rubber pieces are seals. They are there to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the pulley. The pulley you showed in the other video without that seal is a shielded bearing, which does not have a dust shield. They are going to have a bit less drag, but also nothing to prevent dust and dirt from getting in, which means they have to be cleaned and lubed regularly. Obviously each pulley should have the same spec bearings, BUT the bearings are not made of plastic.
@@DiscoveringStrength No problem. Based on your review, I'll still end up picking this unit up. Can't beat the price to functionality. And, I'll know to go through my bearings as well.
Thanks for a great review! Like most garage gym owners, I'm limited for space. I have a heating duct running alongside the stud where I would mount this unit. So, no clearance issues for the 25" required at the base but I'm very limited for space at the top of the unit. The very top of the unit looks to be shaped a bit like a "T". How wide is that at the widest point?
It's cool to see that it is rack-mountable. But, does this assembly have enough gap space to mount on the front of the rack to prevent me from using the front part of the rack?
No, it doesn't. If you want to do something like that you'd have to get some type of extension arms. Force USA's myrack has something like that but they don't sell them separately.
Thank you for all the information! How does the smoothness of the sliding feel compared to other functional trainers you’ve used? And even the titan lat Pulldown attachment?
It's not quite as smooth as a commercial machine and slightly less smooth as my Titan Lat pulldown. That being said, it's still totally acceptable and I use it more than the lat pulldown because it's more versatile. Hope that helps!
Great review!! Could you please tell me how tall it is from the floor to the cable ball resting position at its highest point. I'm 6'6" tall and not sure if it would work for me. Thanks.
Sorry I have just watched one video so I don't know about your background. I am Korean and curios about you have a Korea flag there haha. By the way, thanks for your review and yep definitely I will get one for myself
Hi, yes my family and I lived in Korea for a number of years so it holds a special place in our hearts. When we left we had to bring a little piece of Korea with us and add it to the garage gym! I'm glad the video was helpful.👍
No, unfortunately it is still an issue. However, I will say that my cable machine is still fully functional. I think it's just a little less smooth than a similar cable machine with higher quality pulleys.
What % of the weight on the machine are you actually moving? Typically, a single pulley is 100%, two pulleys is 50% and etc. have you tested this with a crane scale or anything like that?
@@DiscoveringStrength so I bought it and just tested on the crane scale. Only takes off 50% like a double pulley. Pretty good I am pleasantly surprised 👍🏻
Would it be a reasonable way to set up an inexpensive and versital cable crossover set up by buying two of these? Would you get enough cable pull distance?
Absolutely! Check this updated video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6vyjUAdxcrc.html I got a second one and created a cable crossover. It has worked out great!👍
Yes you can. However, lat pulldowns can be a bit awkward because of the angle. I also have the T3 lat pulldown/low row and that is much better for lat pulldowns. But like I said, you can do them just a bit awkward. Hope that helps!
Hello, I want to also get this item, but the issue is for me that If I mount this item to wall, (to make it stable so that it requires mounting), can my wall handle the weight pressure? I am sooo confused
In reality, the cable tower does not pull much on the wall. The way it's engineered, the motion is going up and down. So you could mount this to a lot of different surfaces. I have one that's mounted to drywall with drywall anchors (toggle bolt anchors) and I haven't had any issues with it.
Yes you could but you're going to run into the issue of the towers interfering with the barbell if you rack it on the outside. If you had some sort of mounting extender arm (Titan doesn't have anything like that) then it could work. Force USA makes a rack called the MyRack and it has an option to add two towers to create the cable crossover. Take a look here: www.forceusa.com/products/myrack?variant=33628145857¤cy=USD&gclid=Cj0KCQjwma6TBhDIARIsAOKuANy4RLkKuQm4-igKbmS3jWuXC5_dyY77BIkAEydklE7BkR38akYV2Y4aAhA_EALw_wcB
@@DiscoveringStrength The real MVP! First RU-vidr to respond to my question. Thanks for your help. I don’t have room for the big of a setup you suggested. Might just add 2 of them to the wall instead
Yes you can do lat pulldowns by sitting on a bench and sort of straddling the tower. It's just not ideal. That's really the main reason I have the other lat pulldown machine. Hope that helps!👍
Discovering Strength Sounds good enough for me. I’m trying to avoid the lat pull down attachment as to not have cables in the way. Looks like this wall mount is the only cable attachment that I will need. Thanks 👍🏻
Hmm...that's a tough one. If you were just focused on lat pulldowns then a no brainer would be the lat pulldown attachment. It is much better for those. Basically the angle of being able to get directly under the bar. However, the cable tower is much more versatile. I prefer using it for rows. You can do tricep extensions equally easily on both. It just comes down to your preferences. You can still do all movements with both. Hope that helps!👍
You know there's actually very little difference between the short and tall towers. The highest usable position on the tall version is essentially the same height as the short version. I wish both were taller honestly. I'm 5'11" for reference. It really comes down to your ceiling height. If you have the ceiling height I'd go with the tall.
Do both pulley's have to be used at the same time? I wanted to use it for a lat pulldowns and tricep presses...I can only attach my bar and rope handle to one pulley end ie...carabineer...does that still operate the weight stack without a problem?
Sup brotha . Question. As for the lat tower that's connected to the back of your power cage . How many inches does it add to the back of the cage ? (Have the same set up as you . Wanted to know how close I am able to put it against the back wall while still being able to fit a 45 pound plate ) thanks
The unit adds an additional 12" to the depth, but I gave myself an additional 8" (total of 20" off the wall) to allow space for loading it with weight plates. The largest plates I use are 25s (not bumpers) so if you are using 45s you'll need a little more space. Hope that helps!
Sure, there are a lot of options, but here's my list in priority order. Hope this helps! Cable attachment bundle (gives you a wide array of options): amzn.to/3w28xaa Vulken tricep rope cable attachment (I like using this more than the rope): amzn.to/39eFg1p Metal handles (you can get cheaper pvc pipe handles, but over time they break/wear out): amzn.to/3Czf1jk IPR glute kickback attachment (an upgrade over regular ancle cuffs): amzn.to/3zHgMIZ DMoose Fitness ankle straps (not critical if you get the bundle above because it comes with ancle cuffs): amzn.to/3uLs9Oc These two are more for a lat pulldown machine, but it you plan to do lat pulldowns for the cable towers then they would come in handy. They are the same. One is just from Walmart and the other sold on Amazon. Mine have been great for a fraction of the price of MAG grips. Walmart MAG grip knockoffs: www.walmart.com/ip/Everyday-Essentials-1000-Pound-Capacity-Multi-Function-Adjustable-Power-Cage-with-J-Hooks-Dip-Bars-and-Other-Optional-Attachments/390199797 Amazon MAG grip knockoffs: amzn.to/3wa4IA4
Good question. No it's not good for cable crossovers. You really need the cables to be farther apart to do them. I end up doing them single arm but it's not the same. You could potentially get two of them and mount them apart from each other to a wall. I would consider that if I had more space. Hope that helps!
I just assembled two of the tall cable towers. Plan is mounting them on either side of my PRX rack just for this purpose- to facilitate crossovers. I’ll let you know how it goes! Edit (26feb22): had everything set up for a few weeks. I put each rack 30” from the edge of the PRX rack, which puts the towers nearly 9’ apart. All are mounted on 2x10 stringers which are attached to studs using 3/8”x5” Spax lag screws and washers. The cables are plenty long to use both during crossovers. I lubed the bearings during assembly and they are plenty smooth now. For the money, I think they are a great buy for home use. Just having a cable tower and some adjustable dumbbells allows for tons of exercises.
@@naturaljoe759 very nice. How are the 2 v3 towers working for you as cable crossovers? How far apart do you have them? I also have a prx rack and thinking of putting two next to prx to ha e a cable crossover machine?
I have seen that the metal covers are held in place by a small rubber band. That rubber band seems to move and as a result the metal cover will separate. It is more annoying than anything. It hasn't affected the performance for me, but definitely annoying.
Please correct your improper display of the American flag. Hung vertical you are correct to position the Union "blue background with stars" in the upper left corner. However when the American flag is displayed with any other flag or banner the American flag always comes first which would be left to right as we read. Or simply to the observers left. Having the Korean flag first if you are on American soil is highly disrespectful.
