Great review. I just ordered two tall ones (well they arrived yesterday) and my project is installing them today. I was torn between installing them next to each other on the same wall or across like you did and this solidified the option of doing them across, looks like a great setup, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback! That's exciting that they just arrived. I'm really happy with having them mounted in a cable crossover configuration. It gives you so many options. Glad the video was helpful. I'm curious to hear what you think after you get it all installed. Would love to hear.
How has it been for you? I’m thinking of doing the same setup. I already have a half-rack so no need for them to be side by side for any potential J cups (if I bought the Bells of Steel towers that is).
I have two tall versions and the hole spacing is the same but they aren't in the same position I have had three and all three have different hole positions. This is why in some of the reviews they say in the tall version you can't use the top setting because it will shred the wire. I actually think you might be able to flip it to fix that issue. You can turn one around and drill the holes to match but I just deal with it being about an inch off balance.
That's really interesting! I ended up drilling holes in the short version to coincide with the tall and it's now even. It wasn't the easiest thing to drill the holes, but now I'm glad I did it.
I have my two attached to the side of my rack facing forward. You won't get the same distance between unit in your space but the spacing will be closer to like a functional trainer I don't feel it's gets in the way of me using my rack either. I cut a 36 1.5 inch rail cut in half I only have it braced at the top to my rack and it's sturdy
@@jamescastro2679 I have a rep fitness 4000 93inch I can share some pics. I had it on another rack before i had a fitness gear i got off marketplace until racks came back in stock. Im not that handy with tools and it was relatively easy to accomplish.
That’s a nice looking gym! At 2:12 I see the green weight plates on the machine. I’m used to the stacked weight plates on the pulley machine at the gym. I’ve never seen the weights as you have them. I’m interested in this machine and I’m just trying to confirm that how you have those green plates on there is where you add and remove weights to this machine. On the titan website it doesn’t talk about the weights or how you add them. Thanks! Looks great!
Thanks! The gym has come a long way over the last 2 years. So the cable machines are plate-loaded meaning that you load it up with your either 1" or 2" (Olympic) diameter weight plates. That's what makes this so much cheaper than other machines because you're not purchasing any weight. If you have weight plates you'd use with a barbell you could also use them with this machine making it more versatile. I hope that helps to explain it.👍
Hey, quick question. I was hoping you'd show how you bolted them into the wall. The instructions didn't show how to do it. I have 2 extra bolts that cane with it, but I don't know if that's for bolting into the wall. Appreciate it.
I honestly don't think saving $10.00 is worth getting the short version. Looks like the tall version would've fit fine like the opposite side does. Nice gym though. Thanks for sharing! 👍😎
Well my problem was that the garage door track on the right side was just slightly lower than the left side. So the tall version would have been about an inch too tall. You're right it would have been much easier to get 2 of the tall though...if it fit.
Hey Greg. Thanks for all your informative videos. Question for you between Titan’s tall and short cable pulley towers. I know there’s only a 4” difference in height between them but do you find that your missing those few inches on the shorter version to do any exercises? At 80.5”, the short version seems like it should be tall enough for any exercises, even if you’re 6’2” like myself. Also, I just noticed this while watching this video again but could be wrong, do the holes (to hike the cable system up) not go all the way to the top of the short tower?! I see the holes go to the top of your tall tower, but it kind of looks like the holes stop way short of the top of the short tower. This could be a big deciding point for me if this is so. Thank you!
Hey Shawn, glad the videos have been helpful. You are right that the holes on the short version don't go all the way to the top. That is the biggest difference. However, I've found that the top hole on the tall version is too close to the top so the cable rubs weird and makes it unusable (at least I never use the top hole on the tall version). At the end of the day, it would be nice if both of them were even taller. I'd say 6"-12" taller. However, you can kneel down to get more height/better angle. Hope that helps!
Hey, thanks for the timely response! I’m surprised you’d want it even taller. The more I measure, the 80.5 - 84.5” tall seems more than enough height. I just don’t know what else I’d need that extra height for. Not to mention, my ceiling only goes to 90.5”. Anyway, any chance you might know at what height the top-most hole is at on the shorter version? (then I can measure and see if it’s feasible). In your video I was super surprised to see how low it might actually be (luckily I watched your video again) - seems like a lot of wasted space, but then maybe I couldn’t see the top-most hole due to reflection or something hiding it. I ask because Titan’s taller V3 has been on backorder for a while whereas the shorter V3 is available, and if I can do 80.5” then I might pull the trigger. However, NOW, after noticing that the top hole on the shorter version might not go to the top of the tower, I’ll prob have to wait. Thanks so much!
@@shawnturner1094 no problem. The top hole on the short version is 68" from the ground. The second to top hole on the tall version is about 4" higher than that. Like I said, I don't like using the top hole on the tall version.
As John McEnroe used to say, “You have got to be kidding me!” What in the world is Titan doing with the other foot-and-a-half at the top? It can’t just be space for the cable/pulley, is it? Now I think I know why the taller version is on backorder. But then, sounds like - based on your measurement - that the taller version is also 12.5” shy of the top too. Maybe it is just to make room for the cable/pulley? Geez....I think you helped me just make this decision. Might have to wait for taller version now. Can’t thank you enough for taking those quick measurements for me, Greg! Glad I watched your video a couple more times to notice those hole placements. One last thing, watched your video on installing your mirrors. Did you get them with the safety backing? (Found cheap pricing at HDepot as you suggested but their mirrors do not offer the safety backing).
@@shawnturner1094 haha...well I'm glad the info was helpful. Regarding the mirrors, I don't remember anything about a safety backing. Honestly, not too sure what that is.
It depends on your wall surface. I've got one cement wall and another drywall. For drywall, I used toggle bolt anchors and they work great. The way the cable machine is made it really doesn't pull on the wall much. It is a vertical motion. Hope that helps!
I was considering doing something very similar! Though unfortunately bc I have to park in my garage still I can only setup the towers on one wall. They cannot be across from each other like ur setup. Do you think setting them up about 4 feet apart on the same wall could serve the same purpose.? The idea being essentially making a wall mounted functional trainer
Great minds think alike!🙂 Yeah I think you could absolutely mount them to the same wall. I'd probably space them out a little more than 4 feet, but that would be my preference. If you decide to do it, I'd be interested to hear what you think.👍
an you please let us know how the m12*100 bolts that come with the tower is used to mount the tower to a dry wall? or how else is it mounted to a drywall?any visuals would be highly appreciated?
So ideally you would use the included bolts to mount it to the wood stud in your wall. You may want to use a stud finder to locate the stud. That's the best and most secure option. If you can't mount it to a stud, then you still can attach it to the drywall. I actually did that and used toggle bolt drywall anchors. Here's what I used: amzn.to/34utbpP It has worked just fine. The way the pulley tower is engineered it really doesn't pull on the wall much. Hope that helps!
On reviews of different wall mounted cable machines I noticed they were noisy. Do you find this machine to have a high pitched squeal of rubbing noise?
@@chip7646 interesting...I had considered Archon as well but went with Titan because it was cheaper. I didn't know that about the Archon wall-mounted machines being loud.
So far I love it!! It's totally worth it in my book. What I'm realizing now though is that I need more weight plates to be able to load both cable towers evenly. So now I'm on the hunt for more plates.
Great ! Thank you . I will order another one. Love your channel. I have ordered everything you recommend and have been very satisfied with all recommendation.
@@victorespinoza2005 that's great to hear! I'm glad you've enjoyed the channel. It's fun for me to create the videos and I've now become a little obsessed with the garage gym.😂
Honestly both are about the same. They work for lat pulldowns but they're not ideal. That's why I also have the T3 lat pulldown machine attached to my rack.
Sort of. You can't do them the same way as with a cable crossover. It just comes down to the positioning of the handles... they're not far enough apart. Hope that helps!👍
It depends on the surface. I have a cement wall and then drywall on the other side. Cement wall: cement anchors. Drywall: drywall toggle bolt anchors.👍
Man I wish these were still $190 😂 More like $230 for short and $250 for tall on sale. Even more expensive than the other comment not on sale 260 and 280.
It really depends on what kind of surface you attach it to. One of mine is attached to a cement wall so I used cement anchors. The other is attached to drywall/wood baseboard. I used a toggle bolt dry wall anchor for the drywall portion. So far no issues with it staying put. Hope that helps!
@@DiscoveringStrength thanks man, it does help! Now, to find a new cable for the pulley. The one I bought from OfferUp , the rubber around the cable is all tore up. I just don’t know if Titan sells that separately.
@@Grill.N.Chillz hmm...yeah I'm not sure about that one either. I bet you could contact Titan customer service and ask about buying a replacement cable. Maybe they'd be able to help you there? Good luck!
Well you can, but it's not ideal. You have to do single-arm flies. You could do two-arm flies, but you're not going to get the full range of motion like doing them on a cable crossover. Hope that helps.
This was my big question here. Just built my home gym and I'm missing those cable machines for flys, side laterals, face pulls, tricep pulldowns, and all sorts of back stuff and thangs(etc.)
I got some storage hooks from Home Depot and drilled them into the studs in my wall. Here are the ones I got: www.homedepot.com/p/Tornado-40-lb-Small-Orange-Vinyl-Coated-Steel-Wall-Mount-U-Hook-48004/202639941?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&&mtc=Shopping-B-F_D25T-G-D25T-MULTI-Multi-NA-Feed-SMART-NA-NA-PortablePower_SmartShopping_HighOrganic&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D25T-G-D25T-MULTI-Multi-NA-Feed-SMART-NA-NA-PortablePower_SmartShopping_HighOrganic-71700000081625943-58700006942154417-92700062499001880&gclid=CjwKCAiAzrWOBhBjEiwAq85QZ6PA5dLR8P5upZsMFveCJOfHOQ4ATgxCy-eBpHhgQOpc5EjkbqENIRoCEcgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Honestly they're not my favorite. They are 2-pronged. It would work better with just one hook, but they get the job done. I see they are rated for 40lbs and my bar is 60lbs, but I haven't had any issues.
Well really you can do all of the same movements on both. I would say it comes down to how much space you have. If you have the space, get the tall version.👍
