The blast doors are made of 12-inch (30 cm) I-beams. Each door is 5.5 feet (1.7 m) wide and 7.5 feet (2.2 m) tall. Each weighs about 6,000 lbs. (2,700 kg). The doors were designed to withstand an overpressure of 1000 psi (70 kg/cm2). For comparison, residential construction would be destroyed by an overpressure of 5 psi (0.35kg/cm2).
