I'm definitely getting one but I wanted to ask what height of workbench you need for the machine. A standard 900mm high bench would be too high I was thinking especially if the machine is a metre high. What height has worked best for you. Thanks.
Excellent review liked it so much went and bought that model a lot of drill for the money. Think I'm gonna turn it into a stand alone pillar drill by making a flanged spool in between the floor stand and drill table. Also thumbs up on the NVR switch that's something else I'm gonna do to modify it
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I've drilled 16mm steel bar with this drill and it's more than capable! Most other drills I looked at in the price range were around 350w, this is double that.
Hello TD! Congratulations on the new Drill Press! What a beauty! It's obvious you have drill press experience! One thing I really like about a larger bench mounted drill press is the height of the machine, You have your DP at the same height as I have mine.. I like the the Drill chuck to be just about chin level when at rest. Nothing worse then a short DP, bending over to see what's going on never worked for me. I often say the Drill Press is one of the most useful tools ever made! I think you are set up for bits! =) Thanks for sharing!!!!! Again Congratulations!
Nice review, matey. Do you think it would take the constant use with the larger size drill bits, or would it start to struggle if used on a regular basis?✊🏻🇬🇧
I'd say the motor is more than capable. Not sure if the bearings on the spindle are though? That said, I'm thinking of upgrading the bearings to SKF. This drill is still going strong and hasn't given me any bother.
Great video but would have been nice to see the drilling all the way through to get an idea of time. I am researching for a big jib where I need to drill 1,700 holes and I'm looking at estimate time. How long roughly did it take to breach that 4mm steel with a 7mm drill bit? Thanks
Really informative video. I'm picking mine up tomorrow from screwfix. Anyway you'll have to excuse me ignorance but did you change the chuck to accommodate a bigger drill bit? is the chuck that comes with it ok or does it benefit from a different brand? Thanks in advance.
Cheers for watching and commenting. The supplied 16mm chuck is ok so don't worry, I just preferred to upgrade - personal choice. The chucks are easy to change as you saw in my vid.. I use some quite large drill bits on ocassion hence the 20mm chuck.
Hi, I got a Titan and the chuck has a wobble and I'm not sure what's causing it. Did you have this problem? Do you have a link to the new chunk you put in?
Thanks for the comment👍🏻.. I get the chucks here at a reasonable price too. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F351045507139
I've just bought one of these drills second hand and it didn't come with the drift key. I've looked elsewhere and seen similar drift keys but they come in different sizes. Please can you advise if this has a particular number and or the sizing of the drift. Thanks
Put a piece of wood between the fully open chuck and the table, then pull down on the handle a couple of times (hard). This should seat the chuck in the spindle👍🏻
@@BestUserNameUK Thanks TD, what I'll do is try clean the parts and I'll comment tomorrow here to let you know how I got on. I'll check the other vid tonight cheers.
Just got mine today, when I pull the handle down to bring the drill up and down, when off its smooth, when on it’s quite judgery? Like it’s not coming down freely! Any ideas
Did you tension the belts properly? Also on the left hand side of the drill there's a screw inside a nut, loosen the nut and screw then re-tighten the nut but not the screw... this should help👍🏻
Great review. Just gone to order one and they are out of stock. Hopefully they will have some soon. Two questions if you don't mind, what gearing did you use for this video? Secondly where i plan to keep it, it will be too high and the garage door will catch it when it opens. Would taking a couple of inches off the top of the main pole work? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching and commenting. To answer your first question a general rule of thumb is the larger the drill bit, the slower the speed. This drill has 16-Speeds (210-3040rpm). There's plenty of info' online re: speeds and feeds or you can buy a Zeus guide for about a fiver. Secondly I guess you could chop a bit off the main column, but I'm unsure as to how this would affect the drill - probably not much, but it would deffo invalidate the warranty if you had cause to return it, for whatever reason. Hope that helps.
The spindle is morse taper No:2. It comes with a 16mm chuck, biggest chuck I use is 20mm. See my other vid' on how to change chucks on this machine. Thanks for watching👍🏻
