No you are not crazy about the price. They tried doing the same thing with Kingdoms of Amalur Re-reckoning but worse. I saw it on GoG for like $55 with just a new expansion and a fresh coat of paint. (Reshader and some minor bug fixes but it still has a few desync issue on the sound) I did just buy it because of the Winter sale for like $22 on sale, a muich more reasonable price for a ten year old game + brand new DLC.(If I had to gues the DLC was old content that never made it to ship and they finished it up to justify a high price of what is essentially a remaster.) The new DLC is cool though but nothing really amazing. This seems like a trend coming from high up in THQ to see if they could get away with it.
Love Titan Quest. Recently replayed it. I appreciate the new weapons and masteries, but the Ragnarok level was a frustratingly boring slog. Atlantis phoned it in. Not expecting much from this one.
I did the Beta testing for this expansion and I can definitely say that the price is worth it in my opinion. This expansion is huge! and the new level design is crazy good, even though we didnt get TQ2 this is what I wanted out of the new expansion. Its the best looking TQ I've seen yet.
@@noobienobita6700 Game is definitely worth it and there are many walk through guides. All time favorite game. Logged way too many hours on this and the custom maps. The Custom Lillith expansion is also worth it.
@@peterahdy7354 they created it in order to "sell" it. If youre not interested, youre welcome to move, but this is their business its how they make for living. Have some respect
I would point out that Titan Quest had a very good community to the point where there was even a Fan Patch available (which was regularly updated) to correct issues with the game, such as animations or modifiers not applying properly, even after Iron Lore went under. It was well supported by fans for a very long time, including various mods, some of which overhauled the game completely to essentially create a new game. I think when Nordic Entertainment saw this, they decided it wasn't worth just buying the property but actually investing effort into the game. A good example was how much of the Fan Patch was implemented into a proper from-the-developer official patch. Enough attention from the official patch meant it was worth adding more to the game.
Every time I'm coming back to Titan Quest to play a new expansion I find myself thinking, I'd rather play Grim Dawn instead. The games are similar as Grim Dawn is greatly influenced by Titan Quest but in my opinion it is superior in every way, except perhaps the setting, where someone may like the bright and colorful Titan Quest more.
I haven't ever played Titan Quest, but I read this comment as the video began and holy cow, the resemblance is striking. The animations almost look 1:1
Ragnarok was, to me, the only truly good and unique DLC. Atlantis was a complete waste of money. EE is just reused assets, and costs WAY too much. I like TQ, but not enough to justify buying this DLC.
*ALL CLASSES SYNERGIZES WITH DREAM*. Other than Warfare+Defense, Dream is just outright busted for most combinations due to its powercreep and being introduced at the end of the games lifetime. But if I were to see a Titan Quest 2, I'd want it to be developed by Crate Entertainment, you know the guys who created Grim Dawn and they are the entire original team of Titan Quest.
Well it's a new expansion for an old game. So yes 17$ is worth it. In comparison sony is asking 10$ for dual sense and 3D tempest audio support annd call it "PS5" version (Ghost of Tsushima for example)... so yeah a whole act and a whole new class is more then worth it for 17$ even if it's an old game. If they charged 30 or 40$ for an expansion which would be the price tag if this was 15 years ago then it would be too much but 17$ for a new expansion is pretty much solid deal.
Agreed, also there are new potions. trap chests that spawn enemies. I also like the city designs. My issues with the new expansions is that sometimes it's confusing to where go next. It seems as if they wanted to provide a more open world type of game (understandable though, when I think on some Ragnarok regions). I've respaned with a Ritualist build, and got attacked before I could do anything about it. Enemy density is too high at times. Maybe it's because I'm playing the game too much, but I feel most boss battles are on the easier side, except maybe the end battle. The characters from the original game got a new voice, undrstandable, but I like the original voice acting much better. But overall, after Immortal Throne, it's has become my favorite expansion quickly.
The asking price isn't that crazy. Yes, the game is old... but, if you think about it, the amount of work that goes into an expansion isn't significantly less because the tech is dated. Maybe the art costs are reduced (as the art from games 15 years ago is lower fidelity), but the Design and Engineering work wouldn't be any easier because the game is older. So, the price does make sense to me. FWIW, I'll happily buy it at full price because maybe... just maybe... this is funding TQ2 development, as well.
Considering the loads of crap pushed into the gaming market by other publishers (mirco transactions / mini dlcs etc) I think 17,99 is a fair price its not cheap granted, but it is not overly expensive as well. And remember we are talking about a game that was originally released in 2006 (at the time of writing this comment thats 15 years in the past) is not a subscription / service game and still sees contend updates. This circumstance alone made me buy the new add on no questions asked.
immortal throne was great. Others are just so freking shallow and non inspired. Theyd better make an upgrade to the overhaul of endgame or smth like that
@@luske2 Its kinda hard to return to TQ tho its the best setting imo compared to Grim Dawn. Such an awesome environment and the mythos theme is just pure winner. But the mechanics r too old. Newest expansions just dont provide enough in order to play this arpg on par with such things like Poe of Last Epoch or smth like that. Such a shame cause id trade any of the present titles for an up to date in terms of gameplay Titan Quest 2
I just finished the new act form the dlc, and I have to say... This is by far the best act in the game visually and there are a lot of cool areas and lots of loot to get excited about. The only thing I didnt like was that the other acts now feel really bad to farm in because embers drop so many green items in some areas that you would be missing out on too much gold.
Guys this is one of the best Hack & slash games out there been playing since day one 2006 until today and this DLC made me to come back and it will not disapoint you the DLC as long i've tested it blow my mind I rate it 9/10 + the NEIDAN MASTERY is amazing and if you mix it with the RUNE MASTERY you will have a tanky hybrid damager...any tips & tricks about this game ask me more than welcome to help you :)
fuck i lived a whole half a year not knowing they've started making new DLC for this game. time to head back, I guess. backlog shmacklog imma play what i want!
wow they really keep it alive, i still remember 15 years ago when i played this game at the first time, very impressive, i do like stories more than diablo.....well to much memories
was really disappointed by this expansion. wasn't really any new monsters at all, the environment is very familiar and nothing looks overly unique and areas are just vastly empty, the new mastery is the worst one yet and feels bad to play, and in the first hour of playing i crashed 3 times. this feels like a mod that some one shoved onto the store and overall this ended in a refund for me.
Buy if you are a TQ fan. For new players, maybe wait for a sale like Cas said. I finished the Eternal Embers content in 13 hours with my old level 76 legendary character. All main quests and 15 side quests.
come bro your a joke people buy call of duty 99$ Deluxe edition and you talking about this master pice that is coming couple times in a few years and the new dlc is only 19.99$ then your not a ture fun buy not purchasing day one the DLC as u say above skiping the Ragnarok as well.
@@SoulAgeGaming oooooooooh! I thought it was 90!!! not 19!!! Oh yes! It's absolutely worth getting for 19! I never thought he'd consider 19 an "extremely steep" price. That's I way I never imagined he was saying 19 instead of 90. Your comment was a lot more useful than you think mate! I'm actually going to make a mention of it on my channel! Thanks!
if we look at the releasetimes of the dlcs i see them more like biannual addons the likes of WoW has them for example, with the difference being, that you actually get a shitton of content while Diablo only adds a class. i think for a fan and even new players this is more of a "i want to support the devs for their continued support and effort"
You raise a good question at the beginning of the video, I think the huge gap between expansions is because in between GrimDawn got released, which uses the same engine and they build a brand new game on top of that, so they knew from the sucess of the game that demand and the will for old school ARPG fans to invest is there. Them going overboard and making them too expansive is just classical THQ on top of the cake.
Can someone please, please please please please please teach all these companies that redesigned mobs are NOT new enemies. Seriously. Just because a doggo is now purple doesn't make it something new. It will allways be just a reused skin where someone messed with the colourpalette. So sick and tired of these companies trying to do the EA Fifa move. A new Fifa is also not a new Fifa, it's just the same shit with a grain of extra salt sold for full price.
the game had a huge game breaking bug on the last chapter at the time i first played this, had to reestart 2 full campaign then i got frustated and bail the game, the game is good tho...
Just bought TQAE along with the Ragnarok and Atlantis DLCs for about 15USD. Not going to grab Embers until I know I'll be sticking with the game for some time. Played it on release and again in 2012 (heavily modded) and had a blast. It's definitely one of the best ARPGs made to date.
Just picked up the game and all of its expansions in a steam bundle for $17! I know you were concerned about the price, but getting everything together for only $17? What a generous deal!
I really wouldn't count on THQ to create a Titan Quest 2. The devs who made Titan Quest was Iron Lore Entertainment and they went to make Grim Dawn. I'm not sure who worked on the game after Immortal Throne but those folks are not very good at stamping out bugs. I really hope the controller patch isn't the system they used for the Switch version because it is not very good.
I've played maybe an hour with a gamepad, and I'm not liking it at all. it just feels really imprecise, and this is coming from someone who has played Grim Dawn with a gamepad extensively.
Given how many hours I play TQ... if the price were 4x, it would still be a bargain. TQ, D2, Sacred Underworld. And the original MtG (1997). My favourite games. Oh. And Age of Empires Rise of Rome. Daiai Zobatah!
I was a huge TQ fan. Recently rediscovered the game and started playing it again. Saw this expansion pack on Steam for $12 currently (11/27/22). I am at this video, seeing what it's about. Thanks for the info.
Thx Fex. Same as you.. Loved TQ since the beginning & hopefully if they could bring out a Brand New Package would be excellent. Would be great if they made a All New Game.. Would be Epic.. Stay Safe.. TF
what the heck i had no idea there was anything released after immortalthrone, i used to play the living crap out of this game! why now? why not just start building hype for titan quest 2?
I think the big gab beetween the expansions are the release of titanquest for mobile. Its available for android and iphone. For me it seems, its a profitable way for an old arpg to make even more money.
The price is fine, stop complaining about prices. Paying devs is not cheap. Generally speaking games are too cheap. (compared to f2p bs games where you pay 1000usd,why do you complain about 20usd?)
Prices on games these days are strange. Last time I checked, Unreal 1 was more expensive than the Witcher 3. Yes, the price of this expansion is too much. I´ll wait for the price to drop, if I will buy it at all considering it is legedary only, which will pretty much make it impossible for my kid to play.
It's so weird right!? I mean I say things like 20 USD is too much, and then people say "well people pay that for a skin in Valorant"...I'm like yeah, but that's way overpriced too...so am I the weird one or are they?
Love Titan Quest. Played it from CD back in the days. Then haven't played for several years, lost the CD somewhere. Found it on Steam and gave it to myself for birthday last year. Would be nice with a TQ2.
I only got the DLC Bundle for Eternal Embers, I can tell you all that it might only be worth it if you buy the main add-on that is entitled Eternal Embers, because I thought that all of the parameters and programming of Eternal Embers would be included into the bundle by itself. What is the 4th Item that got added into the Anniversary addition from the E.E bundle by itself?
I used to have a PC but it died two years ago $2,500 PC that I'll probably never be able to afford to get again so now I'm on consoles I have both an Xbox One and PS4 and why they didn't release Titan Quest anniversary edition on Console I don't know. Got the Ragnarok expansion but no Eternal Embers on console so I want to know why didn't the moron developers just put the anniversary edition on the console stores ?
I love this game but it always makes me fall to sleep. hell even watching this gameplay video made me yawn. its worse for Diablo even mentioning it makes me... ZzZzZz 😴
thats way too much..they need to do a graphical overhaul and add more original content : scenery plants etc, items and acts with new monsters. Already saw bundle at g2play with 2 expansions and the game for 16 euro
Neidan is actually a Chinese word 内丹, litterally means Inner Core that is considered a core a natural power that every human can develop inside their body by practicing taoist naturalist rituals for decades or years and comsuming magical medicines made from rare ingrediants.
Why do you say it is one new act? On the steam page (at least the german version) it clearly says it is a 4 act expansion or is this intentionally misleading, it says (translated by me now) "an new set of quests through 4 acts" and it refers to the base game acts?!
I definitely noticed improvements performance wise, especially in Atlantis which runs butter smooth. You can create a new level 70 character and start directly from the new zone and if you play it this way that dlc is as big as the original 3 acts... Lots of reused textures and models but also lots of new ones too. The dlc felt kinda of easy to my already well equipped legendary characters but for a new one it's perfect. The level of polish and animations for all the dlcs after IT have never been on the same level as the original game however I don't understand why the overall review is bad. The lack of drastic innovations is what you can expect from a game that stood the test of time - the people that love it would gladly have more of the same. The pricing is a bit harsh but man - if you've made it to legendary with one character(easily 50-100 hours) and you've stuck with the game for 4 expansions and 15 yeas - your soul belongs right there and I would gladly give it them so long as they keep releasing. My wish for the and if there is a next one - not extend but diversify the content. Package deals do not exist for the true titan slayers and they know it ;)
At first I was excited to see that they were still making content for the game, however they released another DLC without fixing the bugs of the previous ones (Ragnarok has a lot of bugs and Atlantis is basically incomplete). Also, this new patch brought a massive 4GB+ forced update (even if you didn't buy the DLC). At first they said it was about controller support and some bug fixes, but then people realized they didn't fix any bugs, but there was a multiplayer program from Epic Games running with the game, which keeps sending its data to Epic Games (even though you are playing TQ on Steam). This doesn't make any sense. They basically force you to download the new patch with some spyware from Epic Games or else you just won't be able to play. Also, this new expansion brought some other bugs including framerate drops, white floor bug, texture bugs, item description bugs and multiplayer became unplayable, with constant crashes and connection issues. This is a sad ending to an awesome game. I have particularly enjoyed this game since the release of the Immortal Throne, but in this current state it seems unplayable to me.
"Spyware" - Entitled tinfoil hat community strikes again. You can be happy that they are still patching and releasing anything in a game this old, they have no obligation to do so whatsoever.
@@imcuddlybunny well a program that basically spies you is called Spyware. "You should accept anything they do and should be thankful about this. They have no obligation". Well, we can see why the game industry is how it is nowadays. Also: "what's the problem if they get your data? I have nothing to hide anyway.Any social media does that these days...". Well, if you don't care about your privacy and don't feel disrespected with this, good for you. Not everyone feels that way. Forcing a third company spyware down the players throat is a shady move
its almost like regardless of if you buy the DLC the game still needs the patch in order to play multiplayer at all or something. You know, Like any other game of its age. Almost like people fundamentally misunderstand how games operate on a software level. Almost like you have no fucking clue what you're actually talking about in any capacity.
@@katmannsson the main problem isn't the fact you need to download the new patch to play (even if you only play single player), but the fact that you are forced to download third-party tracking stuff, even if you don't use any stuff from them. And don't give the "you can just ignore the EG banner". I mean, I chose to play on Steam, so I have my reasons for not wanting anything from Epic or other companies. Also I really don't understand all of this cope from some people: "they don't have obligation on nothing". "You don't know how hard is to fix these issues". "There's some mods that fixes these bugs". I mean, come on, they don't work for free. If they can't do their job well, they should just let it go and look for something they can handle.
@@alfaomega9529 Steam fixed that banner quickly. Does it disable things internally, probably not. But TQ needs a better MP expierence. The main reason Iron Lore, the original developer team, was broken up was because they didn't sold enough copies at the beginning. And that was because MP was nearly impossible to do back then. At that time MP was just starting to go mainstream, and TQ missed out. Only after people figured how enjoyable this game is for single players, sales took off (1 year after launch they started selling insane amounts of copies), by then it was too late. However trying to fix a broken MP with another developer team.. It makes sense for the new team to use a 3rd party tool, instead of trying to fix a bad MP tool. Anyhow I'm waiting for TQ2 or at least someone good enough to makes a mod from TQ that can be played with the Grim Dawn engine.
Very excited when I read the description on the Steam store page and saw the line about the improved rendering. Not really seeing much of a difference in this video but the screenshots online seem to look a little better, unless I'm just tricking myself into seeing what I want to see. About halfway through this video and I haven't heard mention of this so I'm a little bit worried the graphics boost might not be all that. If you or anyone else has more info on this please lemme know.
I've seen many people on forum reporting graphics and performance issues after the new patch/expansion. Also some textures bugs. The answer they got, however, was basically: "We'll fix this next".
@@Fextralife That's kind of disappointing to hear. Just more reason to wait for a sale like you suggested. Twenty bucks is way too much and there are too many great games out with the same price tag (I really want to get Death Trash since I loved the demo) for me to justify buying this expansion at full price.
i personally don´t care about the price. what is bothering me is ... there is little new. is like you said: same enemy, redrawned scenario but ... it looks like the same old, that is the reason i am not interested in it. is too much milking the same old
I love Titan Quest, but one thing I've never understood is why this game has ever received an expansion, let alone 4! I'm not saying that to devalue the game in any way, it's quite the opposite really, each act in Titan Quest is essentially the entire length of Diablo 2 sans the Lord of Destruction content, so it's staggering to me that anyone would crave EVEN MORE content after playing through the best value campaign in the history of isometric hack 'n slash ARPGs lol Grim Dawn was a fantastic followup with a campaign closer in length to Diablo 2 and tremendously improved gameplay, so I'd much rather see a Titan Quest 2 that builds off of Grim Dawn than just more Titan Quest :-D
Important to highlight that the original game was made by Iron Lore and published by the defunct THQ. OG THQ, that went backrupt and was purchased by Nordic, which was rebranded THQ Nordic. It was THQ Nordic that made Titan Quest Anniversary, the remaster of the original, and only after it that we got Ragnarok and Atlantis, which I assume were made by the same studio that did the remaster, not Iron Lore. So the 12 year gap isn't all that surprising. Probably THQ Nordic saw enough value in the IP to remaster it (which I assume must not have been all that expensive) and after that the studio had enough going on to make these smaller, probably cheap expansions.
yep nothing else. the cellphone port was also good. the only thing that makes me mad is the switch port. totally fucked. i think they earn lots of money with this game, hopefully we get a better graphic someday maybe like grim dawn but i guess that is just a dream ^^
They added Controller support in this dlc - now I can finally play Titan Quest lying on a sofa listening to jazz. The controller button layout is great, R3 to rotate the "skill wheel" is downright ingenious. Instabuy, 10/10, not even kidding. And the performance it noticeably better, Atlantis areas lost the insane freezes on item drops and are now playable for me.
WTF they are still making dlc?? LOL its an influential game yes but I mean just make TQ3. Edit: yes I know Grim Dawn is TQ3 but I mean with the theme and blood would be nice.
the pricing just tells me that they understand that those of us that want this can afford it. We're older now and have more money, so they are counting on that i guess.
