The bogging problem is often due to the mixture needing adjusting. Get the pac-man carb tool and turn it anti-clockwise 1/4 turn. If that doesn't work there is probably dirt in the H carb needle. If you unscrew it and blow out the carb and the needle with an airline and carb cleaner spray that normally works. If that doesn't work don't bother stripping the carb, the gaskets are fibre and break up really easily. Just get a new carb.
Would just like to take the time to Thank Mick for doing this video I have NO experience with Engines or anything like that and if I can get this running well following micks video anyone can. Best £6 I spent made the strimmer feel brand new again so Thanks Mick keep the videos coming
@@themowerman the main jet the screw wouldn't come,so the wifes nail polish remover hr later it unscrewed cleaned jet and it was a result mick,iv only just started doing this over the last 4mth as I carnt work any more due to heart failure so its something for me to keep busy, its a great feeling when you pull the cord and it burst into life I thought I'd never get it going so once again big respect mt looking forward to another great vid cheers mick 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fantastic video, has resolved my issues with not being able to rev the motor, I also bought new fuel lines as the old ones had gone solid. New carburettor was a tenner from Amazon but happy to get the engine revving again Hopefully a long term fix
Terrific stuff Mick! Inherited an identical machine from my father in law. Like yours, barely used but would cut out when throttle applied. Obviously a naff factory fitted carb as I have seen this problem a lot on the web. New carb fitted (£10, still a bargain!) started first pull which it has NEVER done before. Didn’t even need to adjust the idling speed. Your excellent video gave me the confidence to do sort it myself. Best wishes and Many thanks!
Nice video. Didn’t realise I could use a different carb. I brought a job lot of strimmers and there was a titan power head and hedge cutter attachment. I will try a carb off of a spare engine to see if it works. I have no fuel in to main chamber. Fires from carb cleaner and cleaned carb already. Thanks.
Superb video! But what happens at the end, you can hear the unit revving up over you speaking. Be interested to know what you had further to say. Anyway, I have a Titan TTL530GBC still in its box and it's the 3rd one I've had replaced by Screwfix. Paid £100. They are now back up to £130 so considering selling it and getting a Stihl. But then I found your video, I am a sucker for punishment to be fair so I think I may unbox it. Last one felt like it had seized when I came to start it 3 months after initial purchase during summer of last year. I always tend to run them out of fuel before storage. Is it possible that I actually seized? Mix 100% correct for the unit but I recall I was using it at full throttle relentlessly brushcutting the jungle back but as it was starting to falter, I kept throttle fully open knowing that it was running out of fuel. Could this have caused it to seize? Cannot recall if I refilled and went again at the time. I am thinking the inertia of running it at full tilt and continuing to hold throttle fuelling open when it was running out of fuel perhaps did cause it. I tried turning it over with a power drill after watching some RU-vid videos and nothing would get it going again so it went back and was replaced. To be honest, I don't feel like I was being hamfisted with it. I've never known a 2 stroke to be so unreliable. Normally, my garden tools get stolen before they die... As a matter of interest, when you bought this unit 2nd hand, how much did you pay for it and did you get it to start when you went to view it? Just thinking as a back up plan if I do decide to open this and use it. Looking back at my SF history, it looks like they replaced one and I got a refund after the second one failed then, as I say, I'm a sucker for punishment, I went back and bought another one from them in November 2020. So if I do decide to go with it, I just need to get some use out of it and test it again before the year is up. I think I may actually break down and cry if it goes again. It's just been a proverbial pain in the behind....
Hi Great vid im doing a strimmer at the moment but can find nothing on the carb it im hoping you could help with info or wot replacement would fit its a KERUIDI 12GV off a PGT012011 strimmer or even a carb rebuild kit many thanks for any info
Have the same model from Screwfix with fuelling issues. Thanks a lot for this video, I will apply the same fix. Just wanted to ask - did you ever get a diaphragm to fit the original carb. Is it hard to figure out the right diaphragm.
Just to confirm I did exactly what you did and its running like new again, these cheap carbs really are just throw away items. I tried taking the old one apart but the rubber gaskets tore so it went straight in the bin.
is that titan string trimmer like Americas version of the ryobi its look sort of looks like one or a cheap homelite your bran's are different then ours but nice fixs hope a carb rebuild kit works on the other carb
Hi Mike, after seeing your video I changed the carb on my titan multi tool & it fired up straight away ,& I left it running for 10 minutes. Came back a week later & now the thing won't start, any ideas what it could be? Checked the spark plug & all obvious signs. Stuck now
Hi Mick Great video any chance you share carb part number where did you get it from I’m based in UK I’m having a similar problem with my trimmer (brand Titan)
Thanks Mick, i have a titan multi tool TTL 488 and used it about 6 times in about 15 months, after th winter the fuel lines perished, this year the Helpline guys sent me a little tool to turn a screw on the carb a quarter turn because it starts ok but dies when I open the the throttle. They are now sending me a new carburetor. There only seems to be this one adjustment screw on this carb and it dont make any difference what way i turn it. Can you give me any advice Mick ?
Hmm there should be 2 one for high and one for slow. Try turning it all thr way in until it's well seated. Making a note of how many turns. Then turn it 1 and 1/4 out. It should run on that and then need some fine tuning. Remember to only turn the screw when the engine is running flat out
I know this is an old video, but i fitted a new carb to mine ,it fired up and run for a minute and so,but soon after i had smoke coming from the other side of the engine, any ideas of what has gone wrong .Thanks
Great video - thanks. I have same one, used it once and it was brilliant. Next day had the exact same problem you experienced. Would you have a link for the carb you put on it?

I've got the same titan hedge trimmer. Engine runs but the cutter blades wont move. When separated into 2 parts, the blades move when I spin the drive shaft. And engine side drive shaft spins when the engines running. Is there a part I'm missing to join them together inside? I'm looking at a square shaft in both ends.
Great video. I’ve watched all your vids but still don’t have a clue how to fix up my second hand Mountfield SP533. It was serviced (I’m told) but won’t run unless the lever is slightly off choke and full speed. Any recommendations?
A lot don’t like using parts like I have and recommend it because it cheap doesn’t mean It unfit for purpose you just shown it just out box couple mins and it’s running again In my book if that not great value and very usable parts I don’t know what is Fantastic job mick Fear a bhuannaicheas
This is the one I used.. just check its similar to your one www.ebay.co.uk/itm/43cc-47cc-49cc-50cc-2-Stroke-Carburetor-Strimmer-Hedge-Trimmer-Cutter-Chainsaw/174311193739?_trkparms=aid%3D888009%26algo%3DDISC.LISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225120%26meid%3Dafa91cd9fe5449f7b9c8b1b51626b0e5%26pid%3D100172%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D173868762174%26itm%3D174311193739%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2332490%26algv%3DDiscV2&_trksid=p2332490.c100172.m2966
@@themowerman Thanks for coming back your video was really helpful. It does say on the link that it is suitable for 43, 47 49cc. so not sure what was the model you put it on.
