I really appreciate you making this video. I told every RU-vidr I know to make this video (including you) and you beat the others to the punch. One thing you missed, the Titan also comes in a form factor like the Erne for $200 cheaper. It's the same machine internally, just a different form factor.
@kadendominus123
@kadendominus123 Месяц назад
This is true. A big drawback to this form, though, is that you cannot store your pickleballs in this version of the Titan ball machine.
@pickleballplaybook
@pickleballplaybook Месяц назад
I should have mentioned the Ace. Never thought about it! It’d still be the same exact score. Only thing that’s slightly less convenient with the Ace is that you have to carry your balls separately!
@luke9822

@@pickleballplaybook right. You might have also figured out who is building the Ace given it is eerily similar to the Erne.

@@kadendominus123 but it's way lighter so if you don't want to can't easily lift 50+ pounds the Titan Ace maybe better and It holds more balls too. But now I wonder if it has that center of balance issues that the Ernie has when moving it around?

Great video! My ball machine choice came down to these two - I plumped for the Titan and so glad I did as it was the clear winner. One error in your vid though - the hopper extension on the Titan doesn't ADD an *extra* 240 balls (for a total of 325) - it brings the total capacity to 240. From the Titan website: "The Titan Ball Hopper Extension increases the ball capacity of the Titan One ball machine to 240 pickleballs."

Good point, I read that wrong. Thanks! I just got my hopper. Now I need to get some more Pro S1s to fill it!

Great video! I had the Erne on my wishlist for a while until I found out about the Titan. I bought the Titan Ace as it seemed to provide more functionality through the app. Seems crazy to wait 3 months for the Erne, even more so if they don’t even build it themselves. Im glad I went with the Titan Ace. I did end up purchasing the “sound dampening” balls and ball tube from Erne though, so they still got some of my money. 😅

Good choice! I haven’t played with the Ace but everything is the same except for the shape. I think you’ll love it. Smart move with the erne purchase too! They have some awesome stuff and there machine is still amazing. Just not as good as Titan

I enjoyed this video a lot. Thank you. Some people complain that the Titan machine start hitting more balls into the net after one hour of use. Is that consistent with your experience?

Yeah I’d say when the battery gets lower it gets softer. So just scoot it in and you’ll be set 👍

Great, great coverage of both machines. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. One thing I do wonder about is the "lighter is better" supposition. If we presume that the additional weight of the Erne is coming from a heavier duty motor (which may be the reason for longer warranty), then this may actually be an advantage for the Erne and not for the Titan. Thoughts?
@pickleballplaybook
@pickleballplaybook 12 дней назад
I took this into consideration. The motor of the Titan is better in every way. It can speed up and slow down quicker and shoot faster 👍
@harpster58
@harpster58 24 дня назад
Nice video! I'm looking at both of these machines. Regarding the battery charge on Titan you should probably charge everyday od use. According to Titan as the battery charge decreases so does the accuracy. It might not loose accuracy until lower than half charge but I think if I had one I'd keep it fully charged as much as possible. It's great that the Titan battery is a standard 18V Power Drill battery you can get at a hardware store

4:31 the solution to this is to hinge the lid on the side (long side) rather than the back. Then it could flip and still get wheeled around.

Regarding max speed of 65-70 mph, this worries me especially if the random modes deliver at these speeds. I would prefer a LOCK-OUT setting where the ball would NEVER be delivered faster than the MAX SET SPEED in the App no matter what drill you are using. I really would hope the apps have this safety feature.

How durable is the zipper that is used to close the lid on the titan machine? My concern is that if the zipper goes then I can’t keep the lid closed at all and I don’t think that zipper is easy to fix any feedback you could provide would be appreciated.

Recent insights that might change the calculus quite a bit: *(1)* Titan's 2-year warranty is non-transferable, hugely affecting resale value if you want to sell it (and makes buying the extended warranty a bad idea unless you're certain you want it longer than 2 years). *(2)* Ernie just introduced programmable, multishot drills like Titan has. *(3)* Ernie will include a 16-function remote for free with all orders moving forward (just got off the phone with them). If you ask me, the non-transferable warranty is a nonstarter for many, and doesn't make sense. What if you buy it as a gift for someone? Or after a few months want to sell it and recoup a good portion of your investment?
@pickleballplaybook
@pickleballplaybook 3 дня назад
If people are spending thousands of dollars on gifts for other people, they aren’t going to have any problem sending the machine back or contacting Titan for the person they bought the gift for. I don’t see this S a problem at all.
@luke9822
@luke9822 3 дня назад
@@pickleballplaybook Not being able to resell a machine and transfer the warranty is a *huge* deal and significantly impacts the resale value. Titan should eliminate that restriction. People often buy a machine, use it for a few months, it sits around, and then they sell it to someone else. Warranty the machine, not the person.
@pickleballplaybook
@pickleballplaybook 2 дня назад
Still way more worth it than the Erne. They’re really not even close, but definitely see that as being a negative.
@luke9822
@luke9822 2 дня назад
@@pickleballplaybook I own a Titan One and have zero financial benefit if someone buys either machine. If you look at my points above, you'll see that the biggest benefit that favored the Titan is now a feature of the Ernie: programmable, multi-shot routines. The warranty is a major deal to anyone that will want to sell it at some point. Titan values 3 years of non-transferrable warranty at $350. Assuming that is true, transferrable would easily be $500. Ernie is also including (for free) a 16 function remote moving forward and they answer the phone for all questions. Honestly, given my personal interaction with both companies I'd recommend Ernie, and I own the Titan. The Titan is fun and I'm happy with it. I wish I could use your QR codes to try more drills, but the Android app is broken and doesn't allow it (even the recent version).

@@pickleballplaybook I'm also looking the Ace because it's lighter, holds more balls (110 vs 85) and has the exact same ball throwing mechanism, not to mention it's $200 less than the One. Yes you need to carry the balls is a separate bag but doesn't seem like a beg deal to do. that. Also it's ready to roll around the court and doesn't have the zipper top to get in the way. I agree that the One seems most popular but it's heavy to lift and I'm not going to store paddles or shoes or anything else in there as I have a nice Onix bag for that. Is there any reason to not consider the Titan Ace one the One?
