yeah. I stay away, then hit them as hard as i can when they attack friendlies. Ronin's sword block is very overdue for a Nerf.

I trust your Northstar skills based on your profile picture. Also, sword block sooooo needs a nerf. How tf can you even block a charged plasma railgun shot but still take a bit of damage? You either block it or you don't, you can't cut it in half!

Dirty Ape I agree. Give the normal sword block 40-50% damage reduction and have the core enhanced one block 75%. It also shouldn't be able to block a freaking nuclear explosion and Legion's Power Shot. How in the world do you block electric smoke? Like seriously, it surrounds you.

A Dragonfishy A destroy Ronins with my Monarch, but as you said a good Ronin can go againts a Monarch, but usually for me that results in both of us ejection. As of right now Monarch is the best counter to Ronin.

No. The ronin will simply block and run away. Well played, you just wasted your core. The real reason to use flight core is to trade for sword core. Use flight core stacking to go out of range of the sword and try to get in whatever minimal damage you can.

Openspace maps allow northstar to be countered by Ion, legion, and tone(such as homestead). Northstar is all about burst damage, burst damage can't be achieved by simply being at a distance or being in open areas. Northstar by far is a wildcard titan. She can be the weakest and most useless titan in the wrong hands, but in the right hands she can out preform every titan in every situation. Of course because she is the titan with the largest learning curve, she hasn't shaken the meta too much for changes to be made. She is the titan embodiment of the Kraber sniper rifle.

Now that's not true. She can't outperform everyone in every situation. Try to keep misinformation out of the public eye dude. Ronin really messes up Nstar in CQC, Monarch and Ion both rip her up if they get her out of hard cover, legion too but he's slower. Scorch is the only titan she really out performs. Remember, there's a difference between outplaying and outperforming. Outperformance is about the hardware/Software. Outplaying someone is based on the user. You can hammer nails to build a house with a wrench but the hammer is always the better choice you know? To the OC, the open is actually one of the worst places for her. Lanes are her best bet, or low cover to hover over and poke. Homesteads open ground means Ion or legion can sustain fire, and she loses her main damage method, Burst damage pokes. In Titan brawl, sit behind friendly titans as they filter into a lane to fight the other team and use Piercing shot to fire through the friendly and wipe a bar of health from the enemy. By the time anyone actually gets close theres a Flight core, tether, smoke and cluster ready for them. You can top the damage board through this.

how to counter legion a monarch: you will need arc rounds and maelstrom equipped get as close as possible and get in the legion grill drop the smoke he will focus on you and not the smoke which will doom him FAST arc rounds will stop his gun shield pump your Xo-16 rounds into his nose (crit spot) use battery thief and get the exacution more health and a full shield be pleased

pakurtz123 Pretty easy for a legion, just attack at long range. Either they waste energy trying to block it but not hit you back or use there energy to slightly hurt you but be severely punished for it. For monarch, you really can't. Many will say that you could use arc rounds, but if you can't gain core than that tactic is useless. Monarch can't do the same vortexshield tactic that legion does since she lacks in ammo capacity(as I predicted). Monarch is a much easier titan to counter when playing Ion compared to a distant legion.

We are probably going to do Legion v Ion in the near future. As an Ion main, i get very excited when I see a legion, because most have no idea how to handle that vortex shield. - Ascendance.

Well he is actually. Any titan can melt you in seconds as Ronin if you take the hits, I've literally been doomed from full health by a legion before I could turn around. Double power shot and a couple seconds damage from the gun, I turned around and got sucker punched, all I did was look at my phone that had lit up, that was it and I was doomed. He melts under pressure, he's just good at not being pressured if you know what to do. It's not like he's hard to outplay either. People suck, people are proud, people refuse to see they suck, people die. I haven't run into anyone in like two months that hasn't shot my sword block. They just stand and unload the mag, then as soon as they stop shooting and move to reload, they get the full lead wall and I go straight back into block as they finish reloading and we do it all over again. That's not a balancing issue, it's them being idiots. If Ronin walks up to me and shoots, I shield, if he blocks, I hold my fire until he stops shielding. There's a space in between these times where he's out of ammo and I'm not shooting where he HAS to stop blocking to reload or the fights going nowhere and that's where I hit him. As Ion, I can Laser shot him in that space, crits will wipe a bar, as a fellow Ronin I can hit him there myself with leadwall then arc him and phase to reload. I won't be fighting him as any one else. Nstar will train him along, the occasional scorch will just be me trying to deal damage and hope for the best and I don't much like the others. People don't know how to fight a Ronin. Just like they didn't know how to fight Tone. The difference is, Tone was actually OP, Ronin never has been. He's just the weird guy that nobody knows how to talk to, so when they try to start a conversation it falls flat and you leave feeling frustrated. Treat Ronin like you're actually fighting a guy with a sword and shield and you'll win. Block the sword, don't waste your energy on the shield, and aim for the gaps in between. Hell if you can, lead him to your team, Ronin can't survive A fight with multiple Titans unless one of them can be doomed with a single salvo of all of his abilities so he can earn the invincibility of an execution and buy some time to rearm, then duel the second guy. Very rare for that to happen.

both titan can move at the same speed, while sword block makes Ronin even slower. with viper thuster (which u should be using, unless the map have a lot of undercover like complex, then use Double tether + extra dash, but either way), u can move faster than phase dash. You will need to back off to fight him, but it is possible to fight a Ronin as Northstar without losing any health.

Oshikuru Demon Northstar is an easy counter Ronin if you know what you are doing most players don't know what they're doing with Northstar the key is to be passive aggressive

I'd say Scorch is Ronin's counter. He has more range than Ronin, can keep him away from tight corridors, and has his shield for major damage up close.

Hover (viper thrusters) should be used to compensate for any mistakes in movement you made to recreate that gap between you and the ronin, if you dodge an arc wave in the process, that's great. But it shouldn't be your primary reaction, especially not since you can dodge arc wave by dashing to the side.

Legion, wait until they pop gunshield then cover the area around them with gas and light it. Gunshield traps them in a slow movement state that they cant cancel and if you aim the traps right they'll be forced to eat the damage. Then shield their face and execute them, or core them if you earned it. As for practically every other fight, toss canisters behind them, flame wall the edge of the canisters at an angle that ignites them but doesn't impede your path and then put up your shield and walk them down so that they have to back into the canister fire. If all goes well they'll take damage from both the shield and the canisters and melt them really fast. The main goal is to stack as many bits of damage as possible though so that you earn core. In the ideal situation where you get behind multiple opponents in a small lane, you'll do massive damage to multiple titans and earn your core real quick then smash them with flame core for a multikill.

Don't fight Ronin, just do what you can. You can't run and you're unlikely to beat them if they have a clue how to fight you so the best you can do is bait the phase dash, then flame shield them if they get close, block only when they're close enough to hurt them or if they start shooting at you. Drop the shield as soon as they stop firing or move out of range, conserve your energy and keep backing up to your team.

aartaxx aartaxx the double teathers imo are nah. however if you're in an open field map, viper thrusters imo are a must. The increased speed for both hover and flightcore allow for more aggressiveness which many don't expect. in

actually, viper thrusters if u dash then start hover allows you to move 4X faster and overcore is a great choice for northstar, i was a northstar main more of a ronin main now and ive fought this matchup tons of times

I normal go with the extra dash, but lately i have been mucking around with overcore as well just for the earlier smoke and because I was trying to get more practice with flight core, but I still think that turbo engine is the most competitive option for northstar. I honestly think that all of the northstar kits are great. penetrating shot is really useful because it can allow you to shoot through friendlies, and use them as cover, which is great in titan brawl or LTS. Payload is probably my most used, but with good placement you can really achieve just as much with a standard missile, although it certainly makes area control easier. Viper thrusters are necessary if you are going to rely on flight core, and can actually make it pretty good, they also give you a massive movement boost when using hover to evade or take shortcuts around the map. the double tether is surprisingly useful. you can group them close together, which will half the range of movement for a trapped enemy titan, or look up when you deploy to spread them out, meaning they will function as two separate traps, which is invaluable. the optics kit is probably the weakest, but it is still helpful for spotting sneaky pilots, or shooting through foliage or small gaps. - Ascendance.

ive taken all your comments in and am now total hooked on the viper thruster with dash. the manuverablity and speed is awesome and i am regularly winning ronnin match ups with ease with the extra mobility to maintain distance. also tried mucking with overcore but i just dont get as much of a benefit in my play style as i do with dash. thanx for all the feed back guys and see you out on the battlfield!

Scorch is all about picking your battles. He doesn't really duel, rather sits in a choke and punishes any enemy that moves through it. - Ascendance

Pawandeep Singh I know, but countering Ronin with Northstar is hard, but easy to counter with Monarch. So if you have trouble with a Ronin you can switch your titan to Monarch for the game.

Ronin counters tone. Arc wave destroys tone's wall. Phase gets rid of the locks. Ronin has the mobility to dash dodge tone's tracking rockets.

If you 1v1 someone in LTS and nuke, it will count it as your titan being destroyed before the nuke goes off, effectively losing you the round. Not to mention they can just arc wave the tether and dash away, boom you still lost... Nuke eject, a pile of steaming yak dung..

@@trustypatches669 Ronin has a lot of tools to close that gap, just like northstar has a lot of tools to maintain it. It comes down to who is a better player, with better strategy, movement, plays and positioning.

@@TartThread 2 years later. Throw some batteries in that match up, in that case i like ronin's chances a bit more :D Without them, if both play perfect, ronin will never catch northy.

Blake Uden It was Monarch's Energy Siphon, remember there no pilots in Titan Brawl. The Northstar shot first and in the Ronin's direction so I would think the Ronin would see either his health bar decrease or the Titan shaking from the shot and start blocking and moving sideways or in the same direction.

1v1's are pretty hard to come by truthfully, most of the time there are many other factors at had that work to either your advantage or disadvantage. - Ascendance

Ronin is a roamer,I would never fight against another titan directly,but I think duel skills are still necessary

Northstar vs ronin is a skill based match up. One titan doesn't counter the other. The win will go to whoever has the best plays, strategy, movement, and positioning.

That should only be necessary if you lost the gap between you and ronin that you should've maintained in the first place. The ronin will simply block your shots, you can't kill him. He can't catch you. And let the ring around the rosie begin. If you just keep running, a smart player will stop chasing and go take the batteries for free until he gets sword core and then kill you. I know because i made the mistake of booking it in the complete opposite direction in a 1v1. What did i die to? Sword core.
