Not sure if he talked about this in the video but when a northstar charges up the rail gun a single shot to any doomed titan on a crit point is an insta kill so this is pretty accurate
I love all the kids who are like "Northstar sucks, Respawn needs to buff her," and all us Northstar mains just sit in a corner absolutely silent thinking "if we don't say anything, maybe Respawn will make us even more OP than we already are."
Virtual Flood now that the game is old enough and everyone has gotten as good as they will get, there is literally nothing worse than a skilled northstar. Completely untouchable just knocking bars off of you and if you try to push you’re gonna get stuck in a minefield of tethers. In the right hands northstar is debatably the top tier over even ronin.
Yep, a good Northstar who knows the maps well enough can completely shut down enemy titan movement. I love when a Ronin comes rushing at me only to get stuck in 3 or 4 tethers completely at my mercy. Northstar's ability to kite enemies across the map is unmatched. The only area that Northstar struggles is against fast moving pilots. She doesn't have a good defensive ability for raw damage mitigation. I can kill 3 or 4 titans before I die, but a good pilot with an archer or thunderbolt will tear me apart if I'm not careful. I almost feel like the archer missiles are OP and should be nerfed. The tracking is just ridiculous, almost guaranteeing a hit whenever they lock.
The Flying Tea Cup. thank you for your vids I have been going through depression and I have a lot of medical issues and when I'm. in the hospital your vids help me get by so thank you so much plz keep up the work
Also, I mained Northstar because of Viper from the campgain. Everytime I win a match of last Titan standing. I go to the last survivor and send em. Voodoo one, Vipers on station. Your journey ends here Pilot. The skies belong to me, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
PVP Trash its pretty easy, stay at the back of the map and if titans try to rush throw a tether in front of you, activate your electric smoke when the Nemo gets stuck in the tether and fire a cluster missile at it, titans will think twice before attacking you next time.
Northstar is a she btw lol what I like doing is the fact that ur railgun rounds go thru friendliest so I follow a scorch around giving long range support fire without taking damage
Honestly, I digress about her core. The Northstar playstyle is to keep charging the railgun and shooting it until an enemy player notices you and chases after you. The flight core can be used as a last-ditch effort to keep that enemy away.
A couple things a bit off in the video, and some other notes: 1. "Northstar's Railgun fully charges in 4 seconds." This is incorrect. It takes about 2 seconds to charge; even keeping watch of the video time will confirm this. Also, to note, Northstar's Railgun does 550 damage with 1st (base) charge and gains 300 damage per charge with up to 5 additional charges, totaling at 2050 damage. Its crit mod is a standard 1.5x. 2. "Clusters last 10 seconds." Once again, you wrote double the time. It lasts almost 5 seconds and increases it by a second with Enhanced Payload. 3. Flight Core does a maximum of 16,200 damage (or 300 damage * 54 shots), much higher than what was stated in the video. While 16,200 damage is extremely rare as a fewrockets will hit the environment, Flight Core will still practically deal a max 13500-14500 damage. Keep in mind that Flight Core rockets will fly towards whatever environment you aim at; the missiles will not vertex on Titans, which is why you should aim at the feet. 4. Unlike other titans, Flight Core should not be used liberally as soon as you get it. Northstar is still the strongest peaking titan in the game, after all, so using it ASAP is not always the best option. Having a charged Flight Core opens up new possibilities. Now you can push on that pesky Atlas' Titan, flank the enemy for massive damage, bully that Scorch, or even out-dps that Legion. Flight Core itself acts as both a push tool or a "stay away, or get punished" tool. It should never be treated as something you are going to use as soon as possible like Sword Core or Upgrade Core, as you can obviously be punished hard for using it out where multiple targets can focus you down. 5. Tether should not even be called a Defensive Ability. They are Northstar's second Utility Ability. I have rarely used them for the primary purpose of keeping myself from taking more damage (although it may be a secondary effect). Tethers should be used to trap titans with you or a cluster (or both if you're fighting a Vortex/Sword Block) or to punish an enemy that pushes you by falling back and firing away when he runs into it. 6. Tethers have a 60 second expiration timer. They automatically die after that. In Frontier Defense however, they have no timer and will stay permanently. However, in both, you can only have up to 4 tethers on the ground at once (or 8 with Twin Traps). One should also note that Tether cooldown is weird; the whole bar takes 20 seconds to charge, yet a lot of times (for some indiscernible reason that I haven't found) they refund some back. Usually it refunds up to 5 seconds, but I've seen it refund up to 10 seconds on the cooldown. 7. Similar to Flight Core, even Hover can be used to push an enemy titan. Usually my hover pushes only occur if I have Tether and/or Cluster on the ready to trap the enemy and/or dps them. Hover pushing is very useful - albeit a little bit of a gamble - in that it can give you the last little bit you need for core to eliminate your target. Hover is also very useful at remaking a lost gap, especially versus Ronin since you can also dodge Arc Waves with it. This comment ended up being a little longer than expected. I just like to share my Northstar knowledge whenever possible; I prefer to not to let people believe in false info :) Despite the statistical mistakes, this is still a good video for an intro to Northstar. It certainly covers the basics well and highlights a bit on how to properly play her. Cheers!
Dinorush13 i read this whole comment, before seeing it was you, and thought 'this guy is the bomb' Thanks for the great onfo! You have wrecked me as a Northstar v Northstar. Also, you played my hubby last night on brawl and i was trying to coach him through then i saw you were on the opposing team..."oh no, we are doomed!" (Davedave1289)
Dinorush13 also, on certain maps you can use hover to get to certain parts of the map easily, like the bridge on Black Water Canal I believe that's the right map, I may be wrong. So with this situation you can hover onto the bridge to avoid a ronin charging you, or a scorch trying to melt your face. You can also tether the ground under the bridge to trap a ronin, then hover onto the bridge and use flight core if its available, making it near impossible for the ronin to dmg you.
You're correct. The bridge is one of the places you can hover to. There's a ton. Those include any of the barricades on Angel City, the wall by tower on Boomtown, many edges of buildings on different maps, crane on Drydock and Kodai, big and small bridge on Drydock, plane on War Games, so on and so forth. They can be situational, but knowing them all can completely change the way you engage a Ronin for sure.
3:45 I beg to differ! Especially against slow titans who are distracted or multiple titans standing close and barely moving, the cluster missiles (+upgrade) can do a LOT of damage. Not to forget that its a splendid way to shoo a tone out of her cover
Hey tea. I just wanted to say I really enjoy your content. You give good advice and your humour is quite funny at times. You're video on holo pilot inspired me to become a Holo pilot main. Keep making great content dude.
as a northstar viper thrusters main, the VTOL hover is genuinely northstar's most powerful tool. being able to negate scorch almost entirely and ronin's sword core, the ability to do what i like to call "titan stacking" (flying over friendly titans in tight spaces), being able to completely confuse your enemies by flying over them or appearing from around a corner way higher than you should be, all these are just a few examples of what it can do if used right. and most importantly, viper thrusters + flight core allows you to chase down fleeing titans, and punish them for daring to come near you. tldr: use viper thrusters
I'm silently laughing at this because I think it's a joke about Northstar flying but now I wonder what it means if it's not a joke and I just stopped laughing
One thing i've noticed today: my greatest killstreak ever and my best K/D rattio were done using Northstar... neat. I simply moved a lot to find the best spot to land a critical hit and than disapear while running around punching hell lots of pilots and placing some tactical missile attacks into narrow corridors.
I've come up with an alternate core ability that could replace flight core: *Railgun Core* While Railgun Core is active: -The cooldowns of all of Northstar's abilities (except for cluster missile) are reduced by half -Northstar's Plasma Railgun now does full damage without needing to charge it -Northstar's shots will do increased damage to Particle Wall, Thermal Shield, and Vortex Shield. -Northstar's Railgun has unlimited ammo and a massively increased fire rate. -Northstar moves faster while using VTOL Hover I feel that this core would cater much more to Northstar's play-style, allowing her to basically become even more of a long-range death machine for as long as it's active.
I think the more you use a certain titan the better chance you have at getting the banner via advocate gift. Tone is my main, I've played him since I've had the game and I only has his Salt and Spices banner (in my opinion best banner by far simply cuz of the salt and spices👌) so try maining Monarch for a lifetime and see if that works...if not, better hope reincarnation works
@@apexomegayt think tones got salt and spices because most players are (rightfully so) salty when faced with one. Also... (Narrows eyes) did you say you were a tone main?
Flying teacup: "Plasma railgun is hard to hit" Me: Hits all targets consistently when starting to play Northstar. Flying teacup: "Hover isn't great!" Also me: Hovers over Ronin and scorch abilities
Just an idea for North starring Titanfall 3 if there ever is one their core could be 12 explosive shots from their railgun and depending on how long you charge them up will determine the explosion and radius of them
I play Northstar the exact opposite of your recommendations in this video, and I love her. Granted it's 4 years later and the game is nearly unplayable, but I'm still having a good time.
Man I’m heartbroken to find out that he’s retired. Apparently I haven’t been subbed to him, which makes me feel that much worse. I loved the Let’s Talk: videos so much, especially when I first got Titanfall
Can you do a what if the 6-4 were apart of the IMC? My evedince to support this theory is that all the members of the 6-4 except Droz have the IMC titanfall 1 helmets Gates has the titanfall 1 infantry helmet, Davis has the IMC Striker helmet and Bear has a old grunt captain helmet. So in conclusion do you think my theory could be correct?
True, there is a lot of evedince to prove otherwise because since they are a poor faction they couldn't afford the militia helmets. But what I am saying is that there armor is the Grey blue color like the original IMC forces of the first game.
And another piece of evedince is that on the last mission of titanfall 1 campaign "Made men" Marcus Graves formerly IMC joins the militia and the 6-4 may have followed with him.
Yeah, it’s said that Gates was a former IMC officer titanfall.fandom.com/wiki/Gates?mobile-app=false , I think that gates supplied the 6-4 with IMC supplies.
The way I see it, you can bait people by sniping them from far away or while they're preoccupied. When they come after you, tether and flight core them. It makes sense to me.
Join my viper cult, it’s simple to join, use only North Star and every time you kill someone send them a message saying “speed is life” and then you have officially joined the cult
Out of the 136 passengers only 133 survive the crash. One was a little handicapped boy, a little girl that had trouble getting her seatbelt off, and a woman that went back into the plane to try and save them.
My strategy is to get a Titan stuck on my Tether Trap, use my flight core, and then just move left to right with the Viper Thrusters kit while justice reigns from above with my rockets.
Only Northstar mains know the absolute feeling of pure pride and joy when you tether trap another Titan and blow up in there face. Similarly, we also know the pure pain and defeat that fills your soul when on the receiving end.
Ngl hadn't played much titanfall since 2018 but I came back to it this weekend and holy shit it still really slaps. Thanks for making this series that convinced me to give it another try
I’d say a better core for Northstar is for her to fly, but she scans the field, locks onto a target and drops down to the ground, then her missiles fire, and they fly up into the air before coming down on the enemy like hellfire
Uhh, the point of Northstar’s Flight Core is that if someone is trying to get in your face up close, it suddenly makes them not in your face. It’s a pretty good strategy, once you realize that Northstar is a long range Titan, and not a close range one.
As a northstar main, I can confirm I do not use the titan for the titan itself. Basically, run up to an enemy titan, shoot a fully charged plasma railgun shot once, then do cluster missile with the enhancement, then pop the electric smoke screen then eject with the explosion. Boom.
Messing with a Scorch as Northstar is the best because all they can really do is shoot at you. All their skills become obsolete, unless it’s flight core, because…well…flame shield
Travis Dalton not all the time I actually managed to defeat Nordstar. What happened is we both were in doom state and we both got our cores, I miss my flame core and Nordstar than does her flight core I run closer to hide behind the Rock and get into tether trap she hits me a bit I try to shout her from the air and get her to half of doom state, after that she hits me with full charged bullet I survive with 1/5 of doom state, after she tries to execute me with mele and than I put gas can and fire wall I go through the own fire (good thing I had kit for not being damaged by own fire) and I punch and my I win because I was last Titan standing. If you don't believe me that's ok, but this story is true.
If youre close enough to a scorch to get hit, you're doing it wrong... that said, maining ^* has made me incredibly accurate with scorches thermite cannon.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you have to hide and snipe then be in thier face to use your core. That's probably the best way to use her. Hide and snipe and then when the enemy flees behind cover you fly and drop your core. They wont be expecting you to fly over thier cover( if it's not to high).
4:15 no. I mean Im not really using it myself, but Ive seen people dodging around and adding viper thrusters to their movements so nicely that they were constantly dancing around their enemies. Also, it helps a lot to fly into 2-3 camping titans and then nuke over their heads within seconds
North star’s core use seems to be the same as the tether traps. Bait a strong titan into rushing you, get them tethered, and just fly over them spamming rockets. It’s very fun to play.
