Does the exhaust material make a difference to engine sound? This is a comparison of a Ti (titan) header compared to stainless steel and mild steel exhausts. Could you tell them apart?

i prefer steel, it sounds smoother and more bassy. The material on the titanium pipe is thinner so it has a lot more vibration, which sounds thinner, more raspy and aggressive
yes, celeritech made a 8-4-2-1 headers that made a cross plane like the LS engine sound like a Ferrari. (Without the resonators and the cats or mufflers)
Ha! I just happened to search for the difference and your video showed up. I thought it was an old video but was surprised to see it uploaded a few hours ago! Thanks for uploading this video. The titanium definitely has a metallic sound. I’m person which do you feel was better?
I have thought that the sound was alot harsher than it should on my old gixxer 750. it turns out it has the titanium manifold from newer K-series 1000 gixxer
I'm betting the titanium is considerably thinner, and of course much costlier, that's probably 90%+ of the sound difference. Steel is actually STIFFER than Ti (plus being thicker wall because it's cheaper - harder to form/bend thinner wall tubing without it collapsing), so I'm sure the Ti header is vibrating more. My last 2 sportbikes ('01 Gixxer 100/'15 BMW S1000RR) both had/have ti headers as OEM parts.
Titanium is stronger, so it can be made out of thinner sheet thickness. That's for the biggest part why it sounds different (more vibrations coming trough)
