Titanium Vulcan welders what one to buy?

Good for that contractor doing his own thing, I bet he does get Flak from those other contractors, those other guys are so set in there ways and have such brand loyalty in there over priced tools that they tell themselves and others that there’s no way the more affordable tools could even come close to working as good as there high priced tools. @@sheilamclaughlin963 Miller is top notch, but they also cost a fortune! I`ve been eyeing a multi welder like one from HF, I just picked up one of there Daytona jacks yesterday, solid quality.

The whole time we were stocking the store I kept seeing things as I forklifted them off the truck and thinking “Well there goes another paycheck” haha. You are the first one that’s commented that they smoked a Titanium. I have heard one guy really upset and complaining that his Vulcan stopped working. I don't have either welder in this video. I still have the $100 MIG-90 From Harbor Freight. I think this one I've had for about 5 years. I don't use a welder very often to really justify the cost of a Lincoln, Miller, etc. Last year I used the MIG-90 for a pretty decent project building a rail system to hold cinder blocks in a lawn aerator/spreader. I hit the duty cycle on it several times in that project, but it worked great, and had really nice welds, when I wasn't trying to rush myself to beat the duty cycle. I think one of the Vulcan or Titanium multi-process welders will be on my list. I don't do anything commercial, just home DIY projects so having a professional rig isn't exactly something I'd want to spend money on to have sitting around in the shop for months or even years at a time.

Thanks for your comment. I have been happy with both welders, I have been welding more with the smaller Titanium welder lately just for the fact it’s more portable, I have been packing it to my work. I’m quite impressed with the real world duty cycles of both of these welders! I have ran the Titanium on 220 volts at 150 Amps for continues welding for over 14 minutes, only pausing to move to the next weld and It never went into a cool down for the duty cycle. I think both of these welders are great and If you buy one you won’t be disappointed. Take care

What size is your Lincoln MIG? We have a smaller 120 volt Lincoln 140 MIG at my work I have used a lot, I have to tell you it’s collecting dust now, both the Omnipro and Titanium weld better then the Lincoln, I have tested them all on 120 volts to be fair and both the Titanium and Omnipro weld nicer and can weld hotter then the Lincoln on 120 volts. I just have never felt the 140 was putting out a true 140 amps. And the duty cycle I have hit many times with the 140 on welding jobs. I think the transformer style welders have a harder time dissipating heat. I was just talking with a friend the other day, he has a Millermatic 200, it’s a compact inverter welder like these in the video and we both feel like the inverter welders weld nicer then the older transformer style welders. I just figured You might like to know. Take care

I bought the Titanium 200 to do a comparison along side my Omnipro, it turned out I liked the Titanium 200 more! It just fit my needs better, lighter more compact and it really welds great. Lucky Terry Yup. That’s all that happens. Just an error message when you need to flip that switch. No prob.

Also settings is important too. Don’t listen to what that table says. The cleaner that spark sound is nice and crisp. Not jumpy and lag. But nice and smooth sounding. Usually the higher wire speed helps it out. But not too much otherwise once you start using ur pattern it might conk out on you. And than it’s frustrating. I have my Millermattic 252 at 204 wire speed and 18.4 amperage. It welds very good. Can control the puddle really nicely. It’s hot enough to weld up to 1/4 metal easily. Without looking like a worm or burning through.

I don't know if you saw my youtube video I did about a year ago where I run the Omnipro side by side with my friends Millermatic 200, They both welded great! The Omnipro even has a bit more options then the Miller did. Take care :)

Yes definitely, I have worked with welders in the past will low duty cycles and metal prep while giving a welder a break definitely helps it’s easy to adjust your work flow for this. I have actually never had ether of these welder go into a duty cycle cool down when running them. Both are great welders! Take care

Lance Bruhns yes your right about the 90 day warranty on the Titanium, I bought the 2 year no questions asked bring it in for another welder or store credit. They should have offered a one year risk free on this welder like the Vulcan. Take care

Larry Karr No your not correct, Did you buy the Vulcan? I bought mine and it came with a one year risk free warranty, it was free when you buy it, if you want an additional 2 years on top of the one year you pay another $100. I bought the extra warranty for peace of mind. I also have talked extensively with the store manager and you can add two more years once the 3 years are up for another $100. I may do that down the road just because the way I look at it is $50 a year to guarantee if anything goes wrong you walk in with your old welder and walk out with a new one. My friend has spent the last 6 months trying to get Miller to fix a problem in his Millermatic 200 and after the third time sending it into them they finally repaired it right. So that’s the Miller warranty for you?

Mike festiva my 1st year was included for free. ~$100 for 2 more years when I purchased mine. I didn’t know that you could add on years of warranty right before the first 3 years expire. Good to know. I think these machines are catching on with people. My harbor freight is always out of the omnipro 220. Solid machine if you ask me.

Thanks for checking out my video! Yes you are correct, I just do it as a back up, I have had regulators and lines slowly leak down, and I have been forgetful before and forgot to turn my tank off. It’s a bummer to go weld and realize your Argon tank is almost empty :( Take care

@@Mikefestiva If it's leaking at the fitting, tape on the threads won't help because it'll still leak between the ferrule and the pipe. Or somewhere else down the line. It's happened to me a time or two, so I put a piece of tape with the word "TANK" on it next to the light switch in the shop, so that I'm reminded to go double check my regulators. Sucks getting old. :)

I really appreciate hearing that my reviews are helpful to others 🙂 I also learned on a old AC Lincoln buzz box, I have no desire to ever weld with one again Haha! I really like the Titanium 200, it’s light compact and really welds great! The Vulcan is a step up when it comes to features, it’s a bit more cost, bulk and weight but the TIG is probably a bit better on the Vulcan Omni pro, you can run a pedal, you can ramp the arc down and stop it with the pedal which is nice. But I think from a learning stand point it was easier for me to learn how to TIG on the Titanium 200 without a pedal. Take care 🙂

Thanks for commenting, the strange thing is this machine is scratch start, so I guess it would be used to stop the arc with a button but it never came with a finger switch or pedal with it? I have to break the arc just by pulling the torch away quickly then bring it back in for a little post flow gas. I finger button would be helpful for that. I think I’m going to look over the pin outs on the front and see if I can figure out how to wire one up? Thanks for commenting, take care.

​@@Mikefestiva Yea not sure never owned or even operated a scratch start Tig, Always had high frequency start? Ran quite a few millers over the years at work and have a AHP at home. 2T is Foot pedal Mode. Pressing down is on, if you have a pre flow their may be a delay, but arc starts with variable amperage based on the max amperage the machine is set to. And off pedal is off, ends arc and start your post flow count. You can run 2t on finger control but its just a on or off switch to machine amperage no control. Unless it is a scroll wheel or a slider, but that is just basically a foot pedal on the torch, having variable amperage at your finger. 4t Finger control is for production work where you know what needs to happen. You press and hold the trigger and you get your starting amperage, release and get your working amperage,press and hold again you down slope to a finish amperage, and release to end arc and start your post flow.

The two torches are about the same, the one included with the Titanium comes with a hose cover, the one for the Vulcan cost an extra $79 but is 4 feet longer, that tig kit also includes some extra cups, consumables. I here you on older stereo gear, they were crap, but again now days a $100 dollar deck gets you a fairly nice reliable stereo with amazing options. Like you said times are changing and electronics have come a long ways. Hearing what your looking for I would suggest the Titanium 200, both welders work great but the Titanium is lighter, more affordable and after using it for the last month It’s becoming my favorite. I just did a duty cycle test with both welders for a video I’m finishing soon, I welded on 1/4” metal at around 150 amps for over 12 minutes only stopping to move to the next weld and neither welder hit the duty cycle, for hobby, farm and shop welders they really work quite well! Just buy the warranty and you will be good to go. Ps the Vulcan has a 1 year risk free bring it back if you don’t like it and get your money back. The Titanium doesn’t have that, it’s only a 90 day, so I suggest buying the two year warranty and if you realize you don’t like it within that time they well give you store credit for anything else you want? Just a suggestion? Take care :)

I was limited with a small Lincoln weld pack for a long time, it was a small MIG, so I know how you feel. The Omnipro was a chunk of cash but I have no regrets buying that welder! I completely recommend you upgrading welders when you can, you will be happy you did :) Take care

So, what choice are you going to (or have already) make, in buying a new welder?

The more I use both of these welders the better I realize the build quality is. I posted a video covering the duty cycle on both welders in a real world application, they both did great! If you get time check that video out I think you will be surprised at just how capable they are. I also have quite a few other videos covering the other functions like stick, TIG and aluminum spool gun on these welders so check those out as well. Ps I have ran about 22Lbs of welding wire through the MIG gun with zero problems since I bought the Titanium 200 back in December. It’s a solid little welder. Take care

Hi Alan like you thought pre and post I associate with TIG but I do think it also benefits MIG, it’s really a short pre and post, I think it’s just enough to get the area shielded with gas before the arc starts. If I lived closer I would be happy to show you what I know about TIG welding. I really only started TIG welding about a year ago, it’s a steep learning curve but you will definitely get the hang of it, I found the clear glass stubby lens kits really helped me out, you get way better gas coverage with less gas flow and you can see much better with the clear cup rather then the pink ones, the best part is the kit is about $20 on Amazon, I have a few videos I made when I was learning how to TIG weld, there’s some links in the videos description to the kits, just make sure you have the same size TIG torch, ps I started out with a really basic scratch start TIG welder and Learned on it, once I got a HF start TIG I really could appreciate it 🙂 Take care

No problem with asking questions, especially good ones. I’m a bit new to TIG welding (before getting these machines I never owned or got to use TIG before) with that said I think probably most simple TIG combo welders probably run a manual gas valve on the torch, I’m sure there’s nicer ones sold that use a control gas solenoid. I think most TIG only machines especially AC ones probably have a solenoid to control the gas. I’m sure there’s people that probably know more about this topic then I do. Take care

Speaking from my own experience I would say no matter what welder you buy I say buy a multi function welder! Before I purchased the Omnipro last year all I had at home was a smaller Lincoln MIG welder, it wouldn’t weld anything much thicker then 1/8” if I had any projects that required welding thicker metal I would take the project to my my friends house, he has higher amperage welders. I have no regrets buying the Omnipro because now I don’t have major limitations with welder capabilities like I Always had in the past. Plus now I can learn TIG welding! It’s something I wanted to learn but never had a welder that could do that in the past. Now onto the Titanium welder, I wanted to try it out and compare it with the Omnipro, I figured it would be okay but after using it I really like It! The Omnipro is great and has more capability when it comes to duty cycle but for most regular people that weld projects like myself I don’t think most will ever hit the duty cycle much on either welder. The thing I really like about the Titanium is how portable it is, I have packed my Omnipro to my work a few times but it’s a bit big to be hauling around, I have however been bringing the Titanium to my work a lot and welding with it, I wanted to get some welding time on it and it’s been a really good welder! When you do buy one get the extended warranty so you have no worries if anything goes wrong whether you drop it or something else happens your covered for a new replacement. Down the road when you can afford a gas bottle get one, I welded for years with flux wire but you will be much happier with the look of your welds once you get shielding gas, almost no splatter and beautiful welds. Sorry for the Long reply but I figured I mine as well tell you my experience with upgrading welders, I say the sooner you can get your hands on a welder the better, because you have drive and interest in welding. From what I have researched the Omnipro will not Tig aluminum. You may want to look a little closer into that.

@@kberkey4028 Oh yeah it won't tig aluminum for sure. What I'm saying is that I got the omnipro so that I could dabble with tig before buying the protig 200 which can weld aluminum but I'm having second thoughts with the welder and every accessory costing over $1500. It would just be nice to be able to get a bit of stainless tig welding done with the omnipro but I'm not thinking it's worth spending an extra $400 over the migmax or titanium and then just getting the protig down the road.

I think you will be happy with the Omnipro, but it is costly buying all the other stuff with it! I bought my Omnipro when it first cam out, then it was on sale for $750, I have not looked into the MIG 215 I bet it’s a good welder as well. Your in the same boat that I’m in, I sure would like to have AC TIG capability’s too! I have been thinking about the protig as well!?!?

Right on I’m also a big fan of the Titanium 200. There’s a lot of good welders out there but just because a welder is sold by Miller doesn’t necessarily make it have a much better duty cycle, My friend owns the Millermatic 200 it sells for about $2000 I have used his welder quite a bit It welds about the same as the Omnipro and the Titanium 200, the Omnipro has a lot more features and better duty cycle then the Miller. The Titanium 200 and the Millermatic 200 both have the same duty cycle. They are both compact lightweight portable inverter welders, both work great but my friends Miller has been sent back for repairs 3 times now in two years! Times are changing and I can’t say the Miller is worth the extra cash??? Take care and thanks for commenting 🙂

Yes both machines work great 👍 I used the Vulcan Omnipro for a year and a half, I enjoyed it but sold it off to buy an AC TIG welder. I still own the green Titanium 200, it’s been rock solid for the past 2 years now, the only thing I recommend is upgrading the low quality ground clamp, it’s an $8 dollar upgrade. Both welders are great, now it just depends on price and features you want. The Omnipro has a lot more features, along with a menu screen that walks you through welding lead configuration and auto settings. The Titanium is more basic but has a nice amperage chart inside the door. I kept the Titanium because it fit my needs better, more affordable, compact and much lighter for packing around. I hope this info helps you out!
