If only it were just the AJ Brown trade. In reality, that was just one of the latest string of blunders over the last 3 years of failing to capitalize off of the run to the AFC title game. 2020: Start of the decline of the offensive line with Conklin not getting a deal over Vic Beasley and Clowney (no sack scrub) and the fallout of that year's draft (Isaiah Wilson, anyone?). 2021: The Julio trade, departures of Corey Davis and to a lesser extent Jonnu, overpaying for Bud Dupree, and the 2021 draft, with a quasimodo corner in the 1st round. 2022: offensive line's woes at LG and RT became too much to retain Saffold and Quessenberry, previous decisions forcing cap hell into trading AJ Brown. Yes, this last draft has some nice weapons, but we wouldn't have needed to do this if we'd actually drafted and signed well.

Than why give him the extension? And why fire him right in the middle of the season with your team leading their division? This makes the ownership look bad, not the GM. This had to do with more than AJ Brown and some questionable decisions from the past. The team is winning for the most part and that's all that should matter. There's gotta be more to it than that. Kinda wild to think about making that decision and sticking with it even with how the game went in the SB. But it doesn’t surprise me a ton eirher. Bill runs a tight ship and never gave stars better treatment. You e seen videos of him absolutely ripping Tom Brady if all people apart. If he handled the greatest QB of all time that way it isn’t surprising hed be no nonsense with everybody else too. Super risky decisions across the board, rostering up with practice squad players across the board, and abysmal OL with no depth, bad CB depth, Horrible WR group (quite literally all PS players besides Burks, and Woods) terrible contracts that locked us down on players that never stay on the field, the Julio Jones trade, The AJ trade, Drafting Isiah Wilson Draft, Drafting Caleb Farley, Drafting Dillon Radunz at LT (can't play that position), Drafting Dez Fitzpatrick, constantly opting for developmental players rather than skill NFL players. He just swung for the fences every time and it caught up with him.

As a titans fan, I'm shocked. Since 2016, Jrob hasnt had a losing season of football. And weve won our division more times since he came in, than the titans won it for 20 years before he showed up. But I love the move because it shows Owner Amy Adams isn't happy with GOOD... She wants GREAT and wants Championships. Titans have never had an aggressive owner than cares about winning more than her. I think since taking over as owner, she's said, and proved , she's only happy with championships. Her dad didn't give a af about winning. 2-14 / 3- 13 seasons back to back. Also, I think with Ohio State pursuing Vrabel as HC.. Amy is giving Vrabel ( COTY )anything he wants. Vrabel was clearly pissed off after the AJ trade... And he knows our Online Sucks and WRs suck when Burks isn't out there... Andvrabel wants winning a championship just as much as Amy.

Robert Woods makes $16.5 million a year... and Jrob decided to trade for him coming off of an ACL injury in the latter part of his career, instead of paying AJ $22-23 million a year (could've gotten him just a couple million cheaper than Philly because of no state income tax). If you think about it like that it is baffling. As titans fans we were trying to trust the move as bad as it hurt, but we all knew it made no sense. JRob knew he had to pay AJ big money. It makes me sad to think about how losing one player can make your team feel so much worse. AJ could've retired as a top 5 Titan of all time but now it looks like the Titan's super bowl window is closed for good because of our cap situation on top of having a mediocre roster. Also, we are a run-first team, and have a bad o line with Derrick Henry in the last 2-3 years of his prime. I don't get how JRob thought what he did this offseason made the Titans any better. I just hope Vrabel stays and we get stuff turned around. He's the identity of our team.

According to the father of Assistant coach John Striecher, Vrabel told the owner its either me or John Robinson. Vrabel was fed up with the draft picks and the AJ Brown trade! The only top draft pick that was Vrabels guy was Jeffery Simmons. The AJ brown trade and AJ smoking the Titans this past Sunday was the tipping point.

If you watch the divisional round game between Titans and Bengals AJ Brown was 1 of the best players on the field. For a GM to value him so little is baffling.

AJ Brown averaged 1,000 yds 65 REC and 9 TDs; 2 out of 3 years for Titans. It is OBVIOUS he is a TOP 15 WR in the League and you gave him away for a First Round (18 overall pick) and a Third Round pick? Good WR are hard to come by, ask the Patriots... GM gots to go.

The press release from the ownership kept using words like "off the field" and "reputation in the community". That sounds like something went down. The AJ Brown thing is a big deal, but I don't think you fire your GM at this exact moment over that. Fire him at the end of the season maybe. But I think one of two things happened; either he did something illegal and got caught, or him and Vrabel got INTO it after the loss to the Eagles and it escalated to a point of unable to working together anymore.

@john_drennon
@john_drennon Год назад
@@brycehoward4139 I can understand that. And I totally get why that would be a good reason to fire him…at the end of the season. A surprise, mid-season firing for a team leading its division (even if it is the AFC South) is not the decision you make if it’s just about taking the next step. Why on earth would you introduce chaos to your team in the middle of a season if you didn’t absolutely have to?

Less to do with AJ Brown trade and more to do with Mike Vrabel wanting out. Vrabel was against the Brown trade, and he did it anyway. Now Vrabel was rumored to be taking the OSU head coach job, and now after the firing, theres no reason for Vrabel to leave. This was just about keeping Vrabel going into the offseason regardless of how this season turns out.

Funny enough, Vrabel is not foriegn to what just happened here. He was present on the Steelers roster, when Cowher and GM Tom Donahoe had their falling out, after Donahoe made the decision to draft Troy Edwards over Jervon Kearse, after they lost out on David Boston. As the story goes, Cowher really wanted Kearse, saw tons of potential in him, but Donahoe was unrelenting in taking Troy Edwards instead. It woumd up being his final year with the Steelers. Kearse ended up a Titan...the rest is history.

He's also been struggling to get a deal done with Jeffery Simmons. Trading one of the best WR's in the league like it was a no brainer then telling one of the best defensive lineman in football hey man idk if we're gonna be able to pay you what you may be worth is alarming. Yes, the money isn't totally there right now but it was his decisions to why that money is allocated elsewhere instead of taking care of priority players. Got mad love for J-Rob coming in and turning the franchise around but he's been screwing up the last few years on big, costly misses.
