Thank you! Been dying to see a comparison of 1X vs TP5. a couple years back was playing the 1X and something in my swing/game changed and couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with it. I changed to the normal Chromesoft (2019 - pre-precision laser) and absolutely LOVED them. Then couldn’t hit them and switched to the TP5 which felt extremely like the Chromesoft. So I always wondered why no one felt the 1X was more inline with TP5. I’d love to see a Chromesoft TP5 comparison.

Aha! interesting... I'd say the spin characteristics of the TP5 and Pro V1x are very similar and then the difference between them is that the TP5 is a softer compression ball! While maintaining the spin I'll see if i can get some Chromesoft golf balls, I dont have Callaway products but may be able to do a swap with someone hehe

I find the Chrome Soft a bit “mushy” feeling after experimenting and playing some rounds with the ProV1s and TP5s. TP5 is firmer than Chrome Soft. I had mixed feelings on TP5x - it is the hardest / firmest / clickiest ball I’ve ever played… but I’ve been surprised how well I’ve hit it at times. I seem to get more distance from it. The TP5 feels more similar to the ProV1 to me and feel like I see similar performance in terms of spin / distance / etc. Been using the TP5 pix a lot recently, but may be gravitating a bit to ProV1x… played it recently and liked the higher ball flight I was getting and more spin on approach shots - I did seem to lose a little distance off the tee though. It’s firm, but doesn’t feel like a rock to me like the TP5x. Have been working on increasing swing speed over past year - used to be 95-97 with driver and have since increased to 102-105. As I have increased swing speed, I have seen better performance from the ProV1x vs when I was closer to 95.

@gotigers716 Nice!! Definitely stepping up in speed like that will open you up to more distance with the Pro V1x :) I LOVE the extra spin around the greens and ball speed from the "x" versions

Yea the tp5. Is comparable to the prov1x. Would like to see just them 2 head to head. I just did it for 9 holes and the tp5 impressed me. Probably enough to make the switch.

Yeah it's weird but it gives good options across the 4 ...more spin, less spin, harder and softer ....I'm glad it's different so there's 4 different types of ball instead of 2 types of ball from 2 brands TP5 Softer but spinnier bottom end, or the Pro V1x spinnier bottom end but lower compression for the driver

I’m currently gaming the Bridgestone Tour B RXS. I think there is too much spin around the green. I’ll be trying the TP5x.

Nice! Yeah give them a bash ....interesting how the TP5X has lower spin while the ProV1X has higher spin eh

Of course, you can change club characteristics with a shaft change, however, if I was designing a club head, say a taylormade Stealth plus, ( my club, after a bunch of testing used clubs) I would make darn certain that it hit most balls well, but especially balls that had the letters "tp5" or "tp5x" stamped on them. Might be an interesting test.

So like a ball fitting and a club fitting at the same time? I might choose a ball that behaves in a way that suits what I want nearer the green in general... then the driver fitting at the top end can be manipulated to get the most out of that chosen ball The differences arent big enough to worry about but I chose a ball for the whole year so if my yardages suddenly change, I know it's not the ball and I can get to the root of the problem much quicker :)

@@FredzGolf My point was, if you were a major manufacturer, wouldn't you design your clubs specifically to best hit your premium balls. Or, at worst make darn certain they performed well with them. Srixon driver- Srixon ball. Titleist driver= Pro v1 ball. Just a theory.

@@thomasblock1164 Aha, I see what you mean... that would make sense ...however there are too many variables in peoples ball flights and abilities to get that to be true per brand and for the majority :)

Thanks, surprisingly rare to see prov1 vs other brand videos. Too bad about the tp5, would they be for golfers will a different ball speed? Will see if u have a prov1s vs chrome softs video

Yes you're quite right there!! They seem to do OK for the channel as well 😇 Yes, potentially a lower ball speed as they were better at the bottom end of the bag by comparison They would also be good for reduced curve in the air as more backspin also means more sidespin!
@77bovi
@77bovi Год назад
@@FredzGolf about backspin vs sidespin, I currently have the impression that a higher ratio of back : side means straighter shots, not the absolute spin numbers. Does a higher spin ball really cause more curve then? As with lower backspin, it would be easier to achieve a lower ratio and thus curve more. Btw a good review (only 2 on RU-vid atm) is prov1 avx etc vs trufeel. Where the trufeel surprisingly does incredible - except for 20yard shots. Liked commented subbed 👍👍

you need to show what the swing speeds are, could make a big difference

Will do when the new studio is open ...I don't work with swing speed as most things on Tour are ball speed

Nice, I've seen 25 yards of difference from one ball to another, distances here were quite similar but with their own unique patterns
