“He really knew how to bring song home.” Tito couldn’t have described it any better. That’s one of the many thing that made MJ unique and the greatest.
People may have joked about Tito but he played a huge part in the music of the Jackson 5. All those guitar riffs you hear in each song is him. People til this day use those riffs.
A little disappointed that you didn't take the time to ask about him. Imagine what it's like to spend your entire life as "Michael's brother"… While it's obvious for to you to ask about Michael of course, I also think it would've been nice to find out more about Tito and his music instead of treating it like an afterthought.
+nitrovbugatti I know that but this segment had made mention of him making his album as he's the only Jackson to not do a solo project and he felt people had certain low expectations of him. Rather than pursue that thread that was quite interesting Vlad keeps turning it back to Michael. There's no denying that Michael Jackson was a genius entertainer. However, there is a lot of amazing talent in the Jackson family… We know more than we will ever need to know about Michael Jackson, why not take the time to enlighten people on the lesser-known talents like Tito?
I feel that Tito got a raw deal. The man is one hell of a musician. Sure the Tito metaphor for someone playing the background is funny, but when it comes to musicianship this man is no joke! Hope he gets his just due. The song is 🔥
If Tito never gathered up the courage to play his Dad's guitar plus get caught for playing it...The world may have never ever known of the group that consequently became the Jackson 5..definitely one of the most talented of the group..Tito 🎸..absolutely AMAZING and very INSIGHTFUL and humble...always cooler than the other side of the pillow. 😎
Prince from The Land he had his own type of music like no one else and he was so big they wanted him as their own. That's why they mainly say pop more than anything.
Yes Michael is a gifted child, he was born to be the greatest of all, there will be no other Michael Jackson, and his legacy lived forever, gone but not forgotten, we miss you Michael. R. I. P.
Everyone has their favorite's, but, point blank, all of MJ's album's are dope and classic. The guy was just an absolute musical genius, man. There's no denying that, it's a fact. End of story, people.
Robert Ryan man.... I keep telling niggas... yeah mike is good bro but it fucking Quincy Jones Bro!!!!!! Smh you do know that right?!!... mike jus sang and danced...which is the final process of the product... that nigga Quincy Jones is the Nigga who put all that shit together bro...
@@nunyabiznes6243nah don't see how you came to that conclusion... its the same right now as it was 2 years ago...the truth doesn't change no matter how long its been....only lies do that...and please tell me where and how im wrong id love to know where i lied at...
@@fuegodibiase5831 Quincy's contribution to those albums is very overrated considering what we've heard from Michael's demos (recorded before he gave the songs to Quincy). Listen to them, they'll surprise you. Michael did more than just 'sing and dance', he was heavily involved in the production of his biggest hits and wrote most of them himself. Look at the credits for OTW and Thriller, most of the hits were the ones Michael had a hand in formulating. Quincy had almost nothing to do with Billie Jean, which is objectively Michael's greatest track - in fact they got into an argument because Quincy had so little to do with that song that Michael didn't think he should have 'co-producing' credit.
@@rahlohmcdonogh280 I couldn't even finish Invincible. Invincible was You Rock My World, Butterflies, and a bunch of fillers. I think History was awesome though.
@Thomas Johnson just because it sells dnt mean the album is gud. the music industry brainwashed everyone to michael jackson an they made billions off him
Art by Atlas Like Eddie Murphy said: Don't talk about Stevie Wonder around brothers u r subject to get your ass whopped LOL. Same goes for Tito. Tall respect and love for this brother.
R.I.P. Mike, the G.O.A.T. He had a beautiful spirit. He didn't touch no damn kids. He just had a full time job since he was five so he never had a childhood.
@@ravenaider You obviously have not done your research. I on the other hand, have EXTENSIVLEY RESEARCHED!!!!! DONT noone UNDERESTIMATE the TIME and WORK I have dedicated to learning about Michael and ALL aspects of his life. I know ALOT!!!!! I will say 2 things. #1...Those maids admitted to lying!!! #2...MICHAEL IS INNOCENT!!! I nead not say any more.
@@ravenaider I dont belong to a cult! That is why I dont agree with "religion". It is nothing but that and seperates people. What I do believe in, is standing up for someone who is a good person. I only came to know Michael a year ago. He has amazed me with his degree of love, selflessness and charity. And lets not forget his strength to not loose these beautiful qualities under unamanagable, relentless, wrongfull persecution throughout so much of his life. It is so unfortunate that we live in a world where being different no matter how good ones heart is, is shunned. In Michaels case, made worse all in the name of money. No cultism here, just the fact If one appreciates love, to TRUELY KNOW Michael is to experiance love at its finest.
Your brother was the greatest entertainer to have lived in this century.. that'll be a long time before another appears...he was not only talented.. He was legendary... Iconic... Unmatched and extremely charismatic.... loved MJ.. Live forever Michael!
I have a message for Tito Jackson. I loved every single album that Michael Jackson has done. It’s hard for me to pick which one is my favorite. But I do have a CD I believe my sister gave it to me. Michael Jackson greatest hits. And he has a lot of songs on there that I have never heard before. It didn’t matter what he did his music was phenomenal. You guys were awesome I grew up watching you guys on the Jackson 5 animated cartoon series. but I was a huge fan of Michael. I also had the pleasure of meeting your nephew Geppetto Jackson. He’s got the talent also. He’s really very good. I loved it when you guys did the Jacksons victory tour with Mick Jagger. When you guys did state of shock. That was one of the best songs I’ve ever heard and I believe that was in the 1980s. Let me just say to you Tito. I am truly sorry for the loss of your brother Michael Jackson and my heart goes out to you and also your family. I gotta be honest. When Michael Jackson died my heart broke. I’d cried. And that’s the truth
Tito, you are not a joke. You are a legend and 1/5 of the most legendary groups ever. For the people who make jokes about you, I wonder what's their legendary status.
Man when he said maybe I wont be taken as a joke .. that kinda made me sad .. all that he’s accomplished and u can feel he still carries that with him .. u are not a joke sir
MJ had a lot of Judas in his life! They destroyed him! When social media doesn't exist Michael was a global icon! He was a game-changer in music, dance and music video entertainment! He was a philanthropist and a fashion icon! Generations after him can't comprehend how big Michael was! Michael Jackson fulfilled his purpose on earth! He shared every blessing he had; his talent, his kindness, his money! He wasn't perfect but most misunderstood! He was a good Samaritan yet most betrayed, he was too nice yet most bullied! He simply had a golden heart with kids because back in the 90’s in my country he spent his time and energy on underprivileged/sick kids but to donate more that's a great calling to his sincere heart! To God in heaven I give thanks for creating a masterpiece human being Michael Jackson!
Man, I got to see Tito live a few years ago. He was with his blues band which he had some cousins in the band as well. I was right up to the stage. I knew he was talented but let me tell you I was blown away... When he played other songs and not just the Jackson songs...Some of his own songs. I really seen him on another level. He was killing the guitar and it was truly amazing. Never sleep on Tito. He was simply amazing!!! True talent. So smooth. Wow!!
He wasn't the greatest singer of all time....come on...there were/are others that are vocally better than him. You obviously don't know too much about music.
He is the greatest singer of all time. Period. Show me someone who can sing who's loving you like Mike did at the ripe old age of 10 and sing in so many different tones, and voices plus his best boxing skills, then I may change my mind.
@Nani Wattz I'm a huge Jackson 5 fan. I go all the way back to the beginning. Definitely one of the best. But once you get to that level of talent there is no one and only best. And he's certainly the greatest entertainer of all time. That's not up for debate.
This man has had a incredible career, although never solo. It's easy to clown and make jokes about him but damnit he definitely deserves respect on his name b/c the man been a super star....and a seemingly very humble one at that.
Yeah, alot of people, especially the younger generation who only sees Michael as a superstar solo artist don't realize that if it wasn't 4 Tito wanting 2 play Joe's guitar & learn Joe would've never known the talent that he passed down 2 his kids
When OTW was totaled up, its numbers were unbelievable at 8 million or so... That's why Epic gave Mike such a high royalty rate... They didn't think Michael could top that, and then along came THRILLER. I just listened to TITO'S Get It Baby, and it is a monster! A fantastic line dance song with such a funky groove... I'm loving me some TITO JACKSON right now!
Tito is truly a REMARKABLE MAN, so humble, positive, loyal, patient, understanding & kind. His "energy" reminds me so much of my husband, who is a very shy & bashful person. It's such an endearing quality.
I remember Thriller when I was 6 and my mom bought 2. I remember Motown 25 the whole neighborhood shut down like a block party. When MJ did the Moon Walk everybody screamed.... Drake selling 2 mill is part popcorn the way MJ did it... Do your research. ..
Just love Tito. He always seemed to be the most grounded of the brothers. No ego, no bull, never seemed to be affected by the pace and the fame. Totally cool guy.
The Jackson Family has done so much for our people. They gave me so much pride with theyre masterful performances. I love em all. I cant Thank yall enough.
Off the wall, Thriller, and Bad are all classics. His best work was with Quincy Jones and it was a big mistake when Michael left him. All those records the Neptunes gave Timberlake was meant for MJ but he passed. Those records would have brought the old MJ back. Now with the internet nobody will ever match thriller. Artists are barely hitting gold sales. Last album that went diamond was Adele in 2011. Michael and Quincy Jones are the GOAT.
Idk if it's because black people are becoming more Afrocentric so they're trying to be conscious in terms of politica and I love that for our people, but PLEASE stop trying to push this myth that Thriller was a "white album" and a black people love off the wall and that off the wall was better, that's just not true, off the wall is for sure a classic, but come on, I love mike but off the wall has forgettable songs, almost every song on Thriller was a hit and black people loved Thriller, so stop trying to push this myth that " oh Black people like otw more" that's not true, black folks love Billie Jean, wanna be startin somethin, idk how tf thriller was a "whiter" album, it was more pop, but still r&b, none of his albums are "white" that's another myth, bad , dangerous history, was when Mike became pretty much his own genre, he transcended race at that point, but even then, dangerous was produced with Teddy Riley, that ain't no white people music,
+Hot Mama ok well you're right in some aspects, but that's due to the black community feeling michael wasn't "black enough" for them when that wasn't true, but I'm not even being a biased fan because most black people Loved thriller, stop perpetuating the myth, only the those old heads say that NOW, back then in the 80s, NOBODY was saying " off the wall is better" this whole new conscious movement has started and now understandably black people want to Rememeber the michael jackson when he had the darker skin, hence why now people are saying off the wall is better, of course yes his later albums appealed to whites , we alll now you need the white audience to get to a superstar level, but my point being, Thriller was NOT a white album, that is just a damn lie, you can make that arguement for any album after thriller, which even then is false, I think you people are crediting the pop sound way too much for thrillers success, the videos , Motown 25, is actually what elevated the album
+Hot Mama and Janet did stay more true to her r&b, but Mike had the superstar appeal, it's black folks who abandoned him, because he still worked with the hottest BLACK producers, Dangerous is an urban album, look past his appearance and listen to the music, that's a black mans soul, but like I was saying, people are now trying to rewrite history and trying to deny facts, off the wall is just not better, Thriller appealed to whites, but I'm that's still black music, thriller songs will be played at a black BBQ before off the wall and what songs do black folks really remember for off the wall besides don't stop and rock with you, let's be honest, it's funny now how everyone wants to say off the wall is better, but they can't even name 5 songs from it
+Hot Mama idk what experience you have , because black folks use to say off the wall was actually wack, it's just now that folks wanna be on that conscious shit and rewrite history, thriller was better, off the wall had weak tracks, and I love off the wall, and even think thriller is overrated , his later works were even better, but those albums weren't "black" enough for some of y'all
+Hot Mama girl you sounding real dumb, who in their right mind would hear a song like Billie Jean and think a white man is singing that? What? And you keep bringing up Janet, good for her sticking to her r&b , Janet is Janet and michael is michael. He didn't have as much surgery as you're made to believe, he did date black women, he kept that life private. And how did he sellout? Because he didn't for your stereotype view of what "black music" is and that song with biggie was a single, you see people like you are the problem, because michael never sold out anyone, YOU have up on him, Idk how tf Thriller is a white album, boy George, hall and Oates, those are white albums, and off the wall had 5 top 10 hits , so stop acting like no white people listened to off the wall, thriller was a global phenomenon , due to the rise of MTV , and Motown 25 and it was bound to happen, off the wall was just his first real album so he was bound to go up, you're crediting white people too much
What was my takeaway from this interview? My takeaway was without Tito and Michael Jackson, there would be no Jackson 5. Tito's ability to play the guitar at such a young age is what inspired their father to hon their talents and start a boy group and Michael Jackson was the reason they became famous.
Amen they honestly need to stop that because they making micheal seem like God but he is was and still is my cuz and the goat so let's juss continue with our lives and give them credit where credit is due
@@shuronwhite2565 LMFAO don't do that.... I mean the whole family is talented it's juss he getting tired of hearing micheal name in every interview.. But I agree with u... Mad or nah thoooo
My brothers and I used to go crazy when the Jackson 5 had a new release. Huge fans and I think this groups personalities fit so well. You couldn't pick people off the street to fit like they did as brothers. They complimented each other perfectly. knew their lane and did their jobs.
nomibe2911...Tito is a legend.and legendary..people only got caught up in michael dancing and his fashion..jackie.jermaine .marlon.randy .tito are legends and legendary.NOT JUST MICHAEL.
Tito, I remember you scolded me for strumming your guitar that you had laying on the counter. I was about 5 year old and my cousin Hazel lived around the corner from you guys. We'd listen to you guys rehearse while we ate our ice cream and you guys would come out asking how you sounded. On the 4th of July, the neighborhood kids all brought their fireworks and lit them by your bedroom windows. All the Jackson kids would gather around and watch...I was just a summer vacation visitor from California in 1965.
+Ö - W II T N E S S - Ö The reason people stress the "Thriller" album more is because of the timing. Timing on how Thriller was the first album by a Black artist to be shown on MTV, if you weren't alive, you have no idea how significant this bit of information made the difference. Personally I think Thriller is a better album because of "Lady In My Life", which is the dopest song Michael Jackson ever had!
Lovell Cohen I also prefer Off The Wall album but the reason for why Thriller is greater goes beyond what anyone today can imagine. Thriller didn't just "reach a wider audience". That is a gigantic understatement. Thriller broke so many barriers that it's success is iconic for a globalized world. Beginning on the racial barriers in America, it was played in TV channels such as MTV in which there had never played black music. It popularized black culture around the world, as in Japan for example, in a way NO ONE could previously do, not even the greatest like the king of soul James Brown etc. Im using Japan as an example but in continental European countries it was like a presentation of not only American culture, but African American culture. It was so successful that (most non-black) people didn't call it black american music anymore, they just called it American music because everyone wanted to be a little part of (and proud of) Thriller as if it were of their own. It also set a completely new standard to the way music videos are made until today in a way that Off The Wall didn't. In the production of 99% of music videos today you can see the influence of the work of Michael Jackson and the ones who produced the music videos in thriller have. The dance moves Michael brought and improved from Off The Wall and also added in Thriller also set a new standard for entertainment that has not been beat and honestly I think is unbeatable. No one will ever do it like MJ. No one. I wish someone did but I know no one will. And of course what we all know, that it's the most sold album of all times, at its peak selling 1 million albums per WEEK. It didn't just reach a lot of people, it influenced people's ways of thinking and acting. And I think, given the cicumstances and the times it were, it makes it even more important that it was an album made by two black men. That is "unmeasurably" big. We should be ever grateful to Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones.
Tito: "maybe I won't be so much of a joke anymore" Vlad: "remember when Chris Tucker made fun of you!!? Anyways, back to Michael. He was so great, remember?"
Every song on thriller hit the radio. Lots of albums may get 3 songs MAX that hit the popular music scene off 1album and do great numbers. The whole thriller was in constant rotation in the ANALOG DAYS.
I'm just dying to hear those unreleased MJ records produced by Quincy Jones. They milk our pockets by releasing a few a time throwing them on re releases as special editions as bonus tracks. A lost tapes/sessions album needs to be released asap.
...how terrible! Tito worked his butt off just like the rest of them. just because he wasnt a front runner, dancing and cutting a rug like the others, he was still an integral part of the group!! All 5 of them played an important role and made a cohesive act!!! He was a very talented self-taught musician and sang back up ...and people aren't giving him any credit, when they ALL put work in...of course Mike was the lead singer, so he worked even harder, but they all toured constantly around the world year after year, traveled on the roads, rehearsed tirelessly, wrote songs, spent time in the studios, etc etc!! I used to think that way and only Micheal mattered in my eyes, but I started watching J5 videos and performances and they ALL worked hard!!!!! Without question Mike was a bad mofo, but they were a group they all deserve to be acknowledged for 2 decades of hard work. just becuz he was more low key, doesn't mean he didn't do anything ...that's really terrible!!
Toriano " Tito" . Ainda bem que você pegou a guitarra de Joe e acidentalmente, quebrou a corda... início dos Jackson 5, Jackson e da carreira de Michael! Acho que tudo que fizeram foi incrivel. Mudaram e incentivaram outros! Suas músicas são ouvidas em toda parte!
Thriller was special and the timing was imperative for the release. MTV had just came around ,and Michael was ready to take it to the next level. So everything played a role .
Tito is going off on sales of Thriller. Off the Wall is Michael's best work. the production, range, writing. Black people can't dance to the entire album of Thriller, but "Off The Wall" you can't stop moving. One song after the other. Hands down Off The Wall is Michael Jackson's best work.

Funny you said that because Vlad interviewed Lord Jamar and he said the same thing. Jamar said blacks did not love Thriller as much as they did Off the Wall. I was only baby when this stuff came out but I recall Thriller being very popular. It seems to me that after Thriller MJ's music became more pop like and not quite as soulful but still pretty good in my opinion. Am I accurate on this tell me what you think?
facts thats the correct order. i dont know why people feel that off the wall is better than thriller & bad. i mean its great but not better than the other two
The world is sleeping on Dangerous and Invincible 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼cmon yaalllll😭 music died when Mike died then when Whitney died, it reassured us that there’s no chance of it coming back. When Prince went, we lost all hopes and dreams of music. Then a bunch of mumbling skittles came and we REALLY lost ALL hopes COMPLETELY this time
Tito has a place in musical history and no one can take that away from him. "Thriller" broke hella records and made it in the Guiness Book of World Records MULTIPLE times. No other artist has pulled that off. EVER.
Curious, Jermaine said he had never seen Michael moonwalk before Motown 25 and Jeffrey Daniels said they taught Michael the "backslide" in 1980. So it doesn't add up that he was doing it since he was a kid along with Marlon. Different stories but at the same time it happened decades ago, no one can remember everything perfectly.
He didn't say it was "the moonwalk", he said he always did a funny little dance. He probably just did something similar at the time but when it became real, that's when he perfected it with Jeffrey's help. He also always give credit to the children of the little ghettos, his words not mine. James Brown also did alot of these dances too, he probably got it from Brown who also might've spread it to Jeffrey and his people, pretty sure more than one person came up with this dance throughout history, could've also been Fred Astaire, he used him as inspiration too for Bad and Smooth Criminal, he pulled from everywhere he could and fill in the rest from what he felt at the time
The moonwalk has been around since the 1930-40s. That dance is old as heck!! used to be called "the backslide" I think. But do a Google search on it'll pop up...the dance came from black tap dancers.
