This was timely for me, Alana! Thank you. My husband is involved in men's ministry and just the other night invited some guys over, last-minute. The house was a mess and I was so stressed trying to clean up quickly (I'm also pregnant and we have a 3-, 2-, and 1-year-old so the process seems to take longer, lol). In my case, it's not that I want to impress-- I just feel terribly rude if I'm having people over to a house that isn't up to par. Multiple relatives and friends have said judgmental things to me about the state of OTHER people's houses, which makes me wonder what they think of mine when it's not the cleanest. I know it shouldn't matter to me, because it's not the most important thing; but the weight of that attitude from them can really bring out anxiousness in me about hospitality. I LOVE hosting... it's just hard for me not to stress about what people think.
Thank you for the encouragement! I have been trying to be more hospitable. I used to care about the state of my house with company much less than I do now days. I am trying to also work on offering something to drink when people come over. I'm learning. 🌷
I love this! We host foreign exchange students and one of my goals is to host refugee families as they come into the USA. We have also hosted various people for holidays... a couchsurfer and her son for Christmas one year, a newly divorced acquaintance whose children were with their father on thanksgiving, etc. It’s such a great way to love on people and it also enriches your own family. A book on the subject that I just Love is called A Life That Says Welcome... can’t think of the author offhand. Karen something, I believe. Also, a blog on this that you might like is The Homespun Heart. This is probably my favorite video I’ve seen recently. Great ideas, Alana!
Great message, Thank you for sharing. Needed to hear that.Planning a dinner soon and I've been a bit anxious. But I'm thankful for your video to remind me what most importantly serving and fellowship with others.Thank you so much! This was awesome!
sarah gasperini sorry:( I think I wrote something like sometime my friends get here and I still need help in the kitchen, or me at their house, and doing that together is fun and great fellowship as well.
