Rare? Why it misses you. The colt won very easily, without using himself thoroughly.

We will see when he leaves NY and has to run in a big field.. and on a not souped up track,, he raced inexperienced horses lately with no real speed,, he wont be worth the short price in the derby field

@Eddie Coyle If he wins the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, it should, and probably will, have an asterisk. But Sir Barton didn't win under the current conditions. His Preakness was run at 1 1/8 miles, his Belmont at 1 3/8 miles.

He the most consistent horse out the 3 year olds but I still think he will get beat in the derby . He good enough that he’ll hit the board . But I feel out that 20 horse field a dark horse will steal show

Definitely. It is a great horse. If nothing different happens in his training, he can win the triple crown.

Buddy Singh He may get beat. All of the great ones have lost at some point. But, this is the best 3 year old right now. His final times have been smoking. Almost broke the track record here being geared down and he ran 146 and change in the Belmont. If he did it once, it’s a fluke, but twice? Nah, this is just a great horse.

We’ll see how many horses actually show up for the Derby this year. Some are speculating it won’t be a full field of 20 because everyone pretty much knows what they have by now unlike in early May when everyone is more than optimistic that they have a potential superstar... It’s already been announced that some who are on the leaderboard aren’t going to be there and others aren’t wanting to pay the late entree fee so who knows? &Tiz is hands down the best 3YO colt we have right now and the only time he lost was when he got boxed in and couldn’t get through. He still made a good effort in that race too. Franco hasn’t made that mistake since then either and even if Tiz has issues in the race, he’s already proven that he has the heart to overcome a terrible trip and win anyway. I’ve watched him drop back and then regain ground to destroy the field... As for the Triple Crown, yes a horse can win the Triple Crown this year despite the Belmont Stakes being shortened. If you’d do your research, you’d see that not every race in the history of the Triple Crown has been ran at the same exact distances they’re usually ran at. They’ve also been ran out of their usual order as well. They’ve been postponed too. Tiz could win the Derby and Preakness and it be considered a legitimate Triple Crown victory. They’ll just be an asterisk next to it.

I think Tiz is best also. But here’s how he can be beat maybe lol. If the pace is super fast in derby and Baffert two go authentic and Thousand Words, plus say two more. Tiz stays too close and Honor Ap flies at the end. That’s the only way I believe. That all said Tiz The Law is incredible. Holy Bull then Florida Derby then Belmont Stakes and now Travers. All wins by 4 lengths too

As an East coast gal, thank you. We’re more than proud of this monster. He’d probably have to have a terrible trip to lose and a closer would more than likely be the one to get him.

Eddie Coyle I personally love the original format of varying distances and the sweeping turns of Belmont, quick turns of Pimlico, and overcrowded twenty horse fields of the Ky Derby and hope they go back to it. However, due to corona turning everything upside down I’m grateful for the format we got and will think no less of Tiz the Law as he has carried his tremendous form since winter. He has been pulling away from any competition so I don’t feel a mile and a half would have changed the result.

Eddie Coyle There are going to be asterisks everywhere then as shortened seasons in baseball , basketball and hockey could produce different outcomes to what would have happened with full seasons. Tiz the Law can’t help he is in this crop and has done all that was asked of him with ease.

Geared down and was not close to a track record. Arrogate took that cake in 1:59.36 more than 1.5 seconds faster than Tiz the Law...but it was a spectacular performance none the less by Tizzy.

Arrogate was 8 lengths faster and even more impressive in winning. If only the Derby-Preakness had been Fall events in 2015.

Tiz was geared down and could have broken the track record if Manny had pushed him, but he saved the horse for the Derby, smart ride

Eddie Coyle, I meant two more legs of this years Quadruple Crown, the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. Of course I would love to see him win the BC Classic but lets take it a step at a time shall we.

Eddie Coyle, first of watch your tone. Second of all as far as I’m concerned this year is still in effect because not only did he take the Belmont, he just won the Travers. So now he has the KD and the Preakness left. This year is definitely unusual but lets not penalize the horse and his connections for how things have turned out. Oh incidentally if he wins the Kentucky Derby will that not prove he can go the distance. He will not only have won the Travers but also the Kentucky Derby as well. So in closing no man I’m very sober when I say I believe that Tiz the Law will have proven himself just fine.

@@MrPMGabriel I would agree about Tiz the Law being better than Justify, except that Justify did win the true TC, and this horse hasn't been challenged like that yet. The Grand Slam used to be the TC plus the Travers, so he could win both the original Grand Slam and the new Grand Slam (the Pentagon? xD)

Alexander Felipe What the commenter meant by “grand slam” was winning the breeders cup classic as well. Justify retired after the Belmont therefore wasn’t a grand slam winner.

Leo M he’s amazing for sure and you may well be right. Tom’s last race with the bad stumble out of the gate was a toss to me. I definitely think they are one , two. With Maximum Security third at this stage.

Whirlaway is the only Triple Crown winner so far to have also won the Travers.

marysueeasteregg Whirlaway ran the races in the right order completing his Triple Crown with the Test of Champions. Though it’s not Tiz The Laws fault I cannot count his Belmont win as a true Belmont win. 1 1/8 distance and the first leg is very different than being the last leg at 1 1/2 miles within 5 weeks of the Derby and Preakness So Whirlaways feat is much respectable. Plus as I write this Tiz The Law has yet to win the Derby. It’s not a lock. This is the race every horseman wants to win. They’ll be taking shots at Tiz today. His “Belmont” win and Travers win will mean nothing if he loses the Derby today.

I understand what you mean, agree in principle, but I will point out here, as I have elsewhere: Sir Barton won the Triple Crown under different conditions. His Preakness was 1 1/8 miles, his Belmont 1 3/8. Both of those races were run at a variety of distances prior to the 1930's. Sir Barton, though, won under even more scheduling pressure than the modern horses: he won the three TC races, plus the Withers in-between, in a space of 32 days!

Gamine is really good but I don’t think she’ll appreciate the longer distance especially with this beast. No one can beat him right now.

Yeah but herein lies a problem for her, the boys are not going to let her run on the front by herself and the distance is a lot longer than she is used to. Tiz has proven he can go the doctor stance and then some. Gamine, come at Tiz if you dare. Tiz will kick her ass in distance race. Now at a shorter distance like a mile maybe she has a chance but even then it depends on tactics.

Yeah, pop the cork for sure. It's nice for the owners because they missed The Belmont and The Travers with Funny Cide but now they have both of those trophies with Tiz The Law.
