Great interview. I would love to see long term testing on wet/snow performance of these and other tires. In my experience, seems that wet/snow traction diminishes greatly as the tread starts to wear. I bought Pirelli Cinturato P7's for two cars (Prius, Sienna) several years ago based on snow/wet ratings and after about 10-15,000 miles or so they no longer handled wet/snow well at all. While I understand the technical issues, it's disappointing that performance doesn't remain somewhat consistent through the life of the tire. Maybe the unique tread of this tire provides better consistency through the tire life?

I am torn between these and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4. I drive a Honda Civic Si coupe. So it's not a muscle car, but I want high performance tires (I do have fun in it and they look cool). I commute round trip ~70 miles a day or ~22k miles a year in Nashville, TN. So tread wear is important for value and snow traction is a concern, but not I high priority. I just want to be able to get around in the few times we have snow/ice. Anyone have any input on the performance comparison of the two? What about rim protection on each? Thanks!

I drive on a gravel road sometimes. How bad is the gravel, that gets stuck in the grooves, then releases while driving??? Some tires really send the rocks flying. A more open tread doesn't pick up the rocks. Rock chips all along the bottem of my vehicle. Or breaking the driver's windshield, driving too close behind me......

hey BimmerGary, appreciate the reply, but also aware of "arrows on directional tires"; my TWO reasons hesitating on purchase are (1) like Stephen H & Brad Stoppenhagen, I'm waiting for early 2021 reviews from snowbelt states...maybe several reviews will appear after the Nor'easter predicted soon (2) mine would be purchased/serviced at Costco, where they religiously rotate the 'cross back to front/front straight back' method, I don't feel convinced they would pay attention; simply rotate front-to-back.

The Tire Rack survey reviews put the CC2 at the top of its class in wet & winter traction. It's the only one with all 9s in light & deep snow & ice. No full TR winter test yet but the preview had it snow braking 10' shorter and the old CC+ was best on ice. I've found Costco techs better than average, they know unidirectionals have a symmetrical arrow tread pattern either CW or CCW per side along with the sidewall indicators.

I not sure if you were replying to me because I didn't get a notification. In the Michelin Owner Manual it says to make sure all the arrows are pointing forward on directional tires. I'm in Paisley, Scotland, and my KIa Ceed GTline car feels like a different car altogether and in a good way, because it drives like a dream. In fact, I wondered if it was too good to be true, so I've tested the handling and the braking, just to be sure and I am impressed.
