Kris Jones It’s perspective changing when you look at this from two angles. Firstly, they really did very little to add Multiair to the TJet engine. Second, if Multiair was a better tech, why does the A500, 595, and and 695 run the TJet? It’s the Abarth halo car :)
@krisj1274

@@PistonsAndPetrol Exactly!! That has always been my thoughts with it as well. If they keep releasing these amazing cars over in the EU why do we have a different version of it here in the NA. I just wish we could get the M32 Gearbox to fix in our frames, from the research I've done our frame rails get in the way, due to stricter front impact safety requirements.

I'm curious to hear if there is much of a change in the engines "note" with change in valuetrain. I'm quite fond of how my 2.4 multiair sounds.... and I'm really hoping I don't have to do a valvetrain swap to get consistent reliability out of my motor. I've had the car since new and the engine works great so far but it has under 50k kms on it and it's full stock.

I have a 105bhp evo, also a 1.4 multiair. What i want to do with it is basically find a full turbi engine and ecu and try and fit it into the evo (would upgrade the brakes and the clutch) and eventually convert to DOHC. Would you think finding these engines /& ECUs is possible at all? Have been looking for them for a while and have no luck.

@johncorona4337 4 года назад
I have to ask: why didn't you just swap the entire head?
@PistonsAndPetrol
@PistonsAndPetrol 4 года назад
John Corona because the bottom halves are identical from the factory. Every part from the lower head down is the same part number as a TJet. A Multiair engine IS a TJet with a goofy actuator system strapped on top with limited lift that no aggressive camshaft could ever fix. That and mine is heavily ported and polished.
@johncorona4337

The 1 gasket required was shown. Unlike the Multiair upper section, the TJet has a sealed unit that encloses the cam so there’s less gaskets and mess to deal with.

how much do you think could be squeezed out of a bone stock t jet? I've seen guys in Europe easily getting to 300hp, apparently after 320ish rods become a limitation
@klemzale5370
@klemzale5370 4 года назад
Are you talking about a factory abarth T-jet with GT1446 turbo, or a unopened engine, with a big TD04 turbo or what specificly ? As far as i know, on GT1446 you are at around 200hp, with TD04 240-250, and thats the limit, reliability will become a big issue after that , at least what i have seen on youtube. If you are planning to enjoy the car in the longer run, then building the engine is the only way to go, then turning up the power like Eddie did i would do it just lik that. First have the stock 124 multiair remapped, then probbably a TD04 turbocharger, or something more modern (twinscroll turbocharger, for better response) and in teh final engien stage, completly build and probbably a T-JET head liek eddie just did, which is amazing The goal would be 300ish HP, i would never max out the engine, as i will drive my car to work at least 1x a week in summer, and hit Track days and hill climb events on rare ocasions This is just my POV, you are free to disagree with me, but i would go for a reliable engine, that is gonna serve me and not blow up in a year. Have a good afternoon sir

@@klemzale5370 I'm talking about an unopened engine but with a big turbo, yeah building an engine is a good idea but I feel like they can take more. Imho for a fwd car like an Punto Abarth TD04 with NA 1.4 cams is the sweet spot
@LorenzoClara97
@LorenzoClara97 4 года назад
Here in italy , the land of abarth, yes there are some 300hp 500s or gpunto but they are very unreliable (with stock internals), they are good for some little pulls but not for track or mountain where you push the car for 10minutes or more.. with over 260hp on a standard engine it gests unreliable, it can last 50k km or it can blow up any moment I'm at the end of my build of a gpunto abarth with forged internals and also cams good for 8k rpm. About 270hp with td04hl (bigger than the standard 04L)

@@miralemnermina142 the m32 with the bearing replaced with the correct ones is very strong. Way better gearbox than the 5 speed on the 500, better gearing also. 300hp are reliable with forged pistons and rods, not on a stock engine
