THANK YOU, Dave! I was having a difficult time wrapping my head around those percentage buttons, but now I understand their use much better. I always appreciate how you so easily clarify confusing concepts!
Thats what I asked to another famous youtuber about credits deduction when the user wasnt satisfied with the results of GF. I thinks credits should only be deducted when a photo is considered saved just to be fair.
This will save a lot of energy in trying to compose the right image out in the real world. Everything can be made from components - like this image seems to have been from the beginning. Look at the light on the house compared to the three and the foreground. Fake, fake, fake. But it makes a lot of people happy. With this they can begin to feel like real photographers.
I hear what you’re saying and remember hearing a friend saying almost the exact same thing about “real photographers” when I switched from slide film to digital. He is still happily using film and does some beautiful work.
@@markhardin127 Your example is not about AI. Some day - you will reach a point with your AI assisted images when they aren't really your intellectual property any longer - you caused them but not intellectually. The question is: will you realize that, or will you become more and more satisfied with being an AI lackey? (button-tapper).
Thanks Dave, the Gen Fill panel has been really helpful.... any chance you might do any extended video adding more AI elements , and then adjusting / color toning them to fit more inline with the overall image... (yes, i'm saying more of a composite image construction, which you've never really explored before - I'd appreciate your take on it, especially using the TK9 panel - just an idea) great work as always!
I use the new TK genfill panel beside the TK9 plugin and it works great. I think that I will get 250 credits caus I am a Photograph Cloud user from the first time. The 20 GB are nearly full with all my bibliothek stuff I use.
Thank you, Dave. I downloaded it the other day but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Have you heard anything about when the resolution of the generative fills is going to be upped to what is the native resolution of the image we are working on? I think that the optimum would be if they kept it low for us to experiment with until we get to a version we want to keep, and then we can opt for the higher resolution to use in the final version. I realize it costs them money to maintain all of this and also realize that there is no such thing as a free lunch, but it really would be nice if we didn't have to waste time thinking up workarounds after we decide we are ready to pull the trigger.
Dave I know this is an old video now, but I hope you can help. I'm using the TKGF panel with the latest production Ps. When I click 15% or 50% I get my image showing the magenta quick selection overlay, and this is the same irrespective of the QM option, ie masked or selected area. What I'm experimenting with is to use the TKGF panel to create a pseudo LUT, by using a prompt like "pastel tones'. Then switch the layer result into colour blend mode. So two problems: why am I seeing the QM magenta overlay when I select a TKGF %, and what's your thoughts on creating a pseudu LUT and blending it in colour mode. Hope the above is clear ;-)
Hi Garry! It’s completely normal to see the overlay when you click on a percentage button. The overlay indicates what’s currently selected. You have two options: Click the paintbrush icon and then choose the desired percentage. This way, you can paint the selected area and type in a prompt and click 'generate' and the area should fill in with the generative fill. If you don’t click the brush, the entire image will display the overlay at the percentage value you select. After typing in the prompt, click ‘Generate,’ and the selected area should fill in with the generative fill. I like your idea with the pseudo LUT. I will need to do some experimenting.
In the beginning, you mentioned that the TK panel could save credits but didn't explain how later. The panel doesn't reduce the number of trials, does it?
I believe he was saying that with the panel you could get an acceptable result quicker, thus using less credits. Note that even if you use up your monthly credits, you can still use Gen Fill but with longer wait times for the content to be generated.
Thank you for another great tutorial Dave! Question: How would you stack two of the 3 options generated in a single run? ie you place the marquee, ask for lightning and you get 2 really nice. If you want to keep those 2 how would you go about stacking one result over another? (Obviously you could run gen fill a second time but let's say you don't want to do it). Is it possible? Thank you!
I am assuming you want to combine the 2 results together. There is a button on the TK Gen Fill panel that I didn't go over yet (it's to the right of the Rasterize button, a cross with 4 arrows). Here is how you can do it: Duplicate the layer (command or CTRL J). Next select the lightning you want to combine with the lightning on the original Gen Fill result. Click the button I mentioned (it's to the right of the Rasterize button, a cross with 4 arrows). This is a cool feature, it selects the lightning and will rasterize it and the two streaks will show up on the image. You can use the move tool to move it around and you can also transform it if needed. The shortcut for Transform is command or CTRL T. Note: This is a great tool which I will go over in a future tutorial...
Thank you David ..appreciate your work . Is that blending in by an opacity change please ? As regards the G credits . I was in touch with Adobe yesterday and so far do not have a full answer from them . They confirmed that GF and GE provide a resolution of 1024x 1024 . You will see a * alongside the 1 credit used . Lower there is a note that is for a standard image which they deem as 2000x 2000 My unanswered question is How many credits are used if the image is 4000x4000 I’m thinking that we might end up using 2 or 3 credits every time we click GF or GE Thanks
The blending is done at the generating stage and is built into what is returned from Adobe. You can then use opacity to do more blending. For example I did some testing of adding a seal swimming in aquarium seen through underwater window so water had blue colour. At 50% on Gen Fill panel the returned seal had blue colour and blended with option to reduce opacity to make it fade a bit, at 100% no colour on returned image so no way to make it look right.
Actually that is how Gen Fill works. The percentage buttons do a select all and fill at selected intensity. Dave’s use of intersect then restricts that to just part of image which ends up the same as using quick mask and filling its selection.
