This is wild, thats me and I had no idea you put me into a video, the intro is so sick, and its so cool to see this race from the other perspective, you got my sub, thanks for making me look good, GG
im rewatching the anime literally take 4 friends that never driven sims, or assetto, down a togue with the japanese pack and you legit recreate half of the show just right there i swear it's crazy
It's extremely rare to see someone skilled and knowledgeable enough to know that if they're overtaking to actually 'keep' their lane, unlike others who'd try to divebomb into the inside lane, then brake late and go wide, hitting you who's on the outside (and who IS keeping their lane and adjusting their braking zone accordingly)
Nothing better than finding a fast and clean opponent. 4:45 seemed like it could have been a real Tunnel-Vision moment trying to focus on keeping it clean and completing the overtake.
It really was. Thank god I was practicing my throttle control and steering the entire time I was absent. If I hadn't, I would've straightened like he did and stay behind
@@noda7124 For this instance, it’s a situation where you are extremely focused, even to a subconscious level. This moment had an especially high amount of adrenaline and instinct working together.
@@noda7124 basically, focus too much on one thing, therefore, not having enough focus for others and messing up the other important things focus too much on pedals, you might forget to steer :>
dude I was actually giggling like a little kid every time I saw you hit slip angle and the gutter runs on the 5 consecutive hairpins (there's 6) were so awesome
fire video. subscribed, liked, commented, clicked the bell, shared it to my family, played it at my grandma's funeral (she was resurrected), this video cured my stage four terminal cancer, my depression, and fixed my unrelenting habit to call shitting while constipated a souls-like experience. cant wait to see more
Same! I told you I'd share with you my attempt at beating your Iroha Run, but never ended up doing so. I only played/practiced for 2 hours or so and my best time was around 10:31 I believe. I never shared it, as I expected to put more time into it, but instead I only did very little sim racing in the past months. And now I'm busy studying for my final exams. Now back to the video: This is a perfect video of what I yearn for, everytime I drive touge. Absolutely amazing race with mistakes by both drivers, one in particular costing the win. Great to watch and the way both of you slid into the parking lot in unison was just chef's-kiss!
@@niismo. Felt that heavily. Didn't post for 2 months because school killed my motivation and free time with so much studies. Thank God I'm graduating in a month. And yeah, it's so fun to race against someone else who' as fast as you. Turns into a battle of "Who can mess up the least" and it gets me goin Didn't even realize we synced our drifts into the parking lot until I looked at the replay lol
Very nice, used to drive on tl1 all the time until a stopped almost a year ago, now i primarily drive on tl2 and tl3 as well as the kaido battle tour servers, it's not very common to have good races on tl1 for the soul fact that most people will crash first corner(or are just too slow to have a good race with) but when you find that one driver in the server thats pretty decent, doing runs with them is a pretty good time. Also that side by side was very nice.
@@Vieryoma-Cars Yea for sure, it's fun to do, would be nice to see those servers get more love, since it's mainly pk akina and akagi that gets used for kbt
@@pavelmatusu4457 I see it more as "OMG GUYS THE TRACK FROM INITIAL D LETS RACE ON IT" and its just fanboys instead of actual racers. It's not a bad track imo, it's just a little boring with the amount of straights and the faster cars taking advantage of that. Yeah I do believe the quote "It's not the car, it's the driver" since I've beaten multiple FDs and R34s with just an MX-5, GT86, or AE86 tuned AND have lost to super slow cars like some of the cars I've mentioned, but if both drivers had equal skill, the driver with the faster car wins on a track like Akina So it's just... meh.
@@Vieryoma-Cars yeah I ve also beaten a few gtrs and fds but that was usually because their driver was bad. When you actually get a solid driver (not necessarily great driver) it's almost impossible to overtake them in a slower car on Akina. There are just too many straights and most corners are just too tight for some overtaking manoeuvers
Holy moly this is what skilled driving looks like! The way you utilize the entire track and use actual Initial D stunts like the gutter technique really shows your passion in racing. New sub!
ah good races like this is what makes TL fun, am usually a 4:58 driver, mostly because am scared to commit, but seen full commitment drivers is always sooo fun lol, good driving
This type of person makes you better. Whenever I find these great pilots, I try to call them on discord to make sure I can play again at another time. Running with people like this makes us fast
What I learned from 50 ish hours on TL1 is that there is always that one na miata driver afk in the middle of the road or afk with his buddy in a nd miata
I live there and loved driving up Haruna (Akina). Thats the course to Shibukawa. The road towards Takasaki is actually also pretty cool. They put up so many speedbumps but people still race. Tiremarks and dented rails all the time xD I'm moving back to my homecountry next week and I would love to start racing sim. I actually played Initial D Arcade here every week XD got friends with some old japanese guys that absoluuutely kill it on there.
yo what the fuck you locked in near the end what was that all race was "realistic" in terms of both of you didn't stick to the line at all times, etc. but that overtake was literally in fujiwara zone
This heat was really close, especially with how confident both drivers were. Very well done! I did a what if race on my page featuring Tsuchiya vs Fujiwara, check it out to tell me what you think. Hopefully it captures the level of passion this video does!!
tbh on akina especially i struggle to find a good run through T2 cause i get hit most of the time. T1 theres normally good but that first hairpin just alot of drivers cant find the braking point. around the area on 2:26 is where im fastest but no one can seem to get there with me
the mistake the other did was take the turn wide which would've been okay if he went faster which is why you overtook him, but that was a show of skills, and i have to say that was sick keep it bud.
I was kind of keeping it safe so that way I wouldnt ruin the race lol. I really wanted to drift though. At the time I still wasn't good at controlling my drifts, but now I probably can
Depends on how you downloaded it. I manually install the files instead of dropping them into Content Manager. But if you also manually installed it, then maybe its broken idk
how much do you drive on akina? and what wheel do you use? where can i practice to be better? because i cant complete even nurburgring without running off the road
So far I have 2000km driven on Akina, but compared to how much I drive on other touges that's just 20% of it. I use the g29 /w shifter. Pretty much the best entry level wheel you can get. I started practicing on a map called Trento-Bondone. I wouldn't say it's the perfect map to practice on as a beginner since it's not beginner friendly, but it has helped me more than any other basic track.
Mountains are challenging trails, and it takes a lot of time to master each corner in Akina (Akagi is much easier for me). I prefer to drive the GT3 in SPA, Monza etc. and I also spend a lot of time in NRing, but I always have great respect for the skilled Akina drivers.
I'ts a server everyonne (on computer) can join. All you need is content manager (CM) as the launcher for assetto and the map PK_Akina downloaded onto CM to play
This POV really gives a different perspective. It's almost like tunnel vision or something but what's in front narrows down and streches past you.... if that makes sense. Or rather it just shows how little space or how tight the driving is.
I usually rock the Initial D Extreme stage UIs, but ever since I wiped my pc I was too lazy to install them again. That's why I'm stuck with ac essentials.
What a race! Lead driver must have had a different setup to his 86 or just a different style in general. And it's really nice to see a proper use of the gutters and the lead driver really did it takumi style! Turn in early and let the tyres hook the gutter. I feel like this best demonstrates the grip vs drift battle going on and it shows that slip angle isn't always the fastest way around the corner.
If you ease into 100% enough then the wheels won't lock as bad or at all in some cases. Sometimes I 100% really quick then let off to 50% - 75% or I just try and brake at 75% always. Honestly, even when I don't ease into the brakes I don't lock up sometimes. Idrk how that works but I'd assume it would depend on how fast you're going or how much you're steering. I also purposely lock the wheels to start a drift, like at 1:33 or 0:52. Also I can't use the settings I want on a server like tl1. So no abs. Everything is factory settings.
How can someone who just did an 4:54 say something about the TL1 driver's been slow?? I just went on the server today and there were like 5 guys doing in 4:46. One of them did it with a Supra. Stop calling people slow or "safe driver" when YOU are a safe driver and not so fast as you may think. THERE ARE many fast driver's on TL 1 and you CAN find a good opponent almost any time you get into the server. I wasn't driving there for months but this video gave the motivation to see how good 4:54 really is and I just made it by day 1 and saw the guys doing the real good times...
I should really think about what I say sometimes before putting in vids and descriptions. I was just kinda following the stereotype and memes of tl1 drivers being horrible Anyways, what I meant when I said “finding good drivers” or “finding drivers who aren’t slow” is it’s hard to get just drivers who don’t hit guardrails 24/7, guardrail riders, sore losers who spin you out when you overtake them, those who think you’re obligated to move out the way just because they’re way faster than you and will push you out of the way… just things like that. At least in my experience I don’t encounter fast / good drivers in the servers that often. It could just be because maybe they aren’t on at the time I go on due to things like timezones, or they’re probably half way in their run while I just started mine and when they restart it’s the opposite way around. Like one time I got on around 12 am and all of a sudden everyone’s a god lol. A month after the video was posted I realized, and I’ll admit, that I was dense for calling tl1 drivers “slow”. I shouldn’t consider myself “fast” when I haven’t even seen the baseline times of a track and how the server is sort of meant for beginners who just got into touge racing half of the time. Not only that, I don’t even bother looking at the times of those I see passing me as if I were standing still. I guess my excuse for that at the time was “Oh their car is faster than mine” or me just forgetting that ever happened. I’m always taking a look at leaderboards now to get an idea of the Slowest to fastest times… and I guess I’m right below average 😅
Seeing how you’re the only one to make a comment like yours out of the amount of people who commented makes me think that people still believe the stereotype of tl1 drivers “being bad and slow” Thanks for this comment though
Man this was so satisfying. Both of you are really good. Would love to race you someday soon. I am on a controller (everything manual, including clutch) but I am able to finish the entire pass without colliding anywhere and that too at high speeds. Once I save enough and get the wheel setup, I'll be in more control. Edit - I would suggest initiating drifting using downshifting at really tight corners (heel-toe shifting to match the revs with the gear), cuz that will make you so much faster during cornering. I am no expert but I have been driving for quite a long time and got banned at home for using my father's car cuz I do all this sheet ;). This is not that necessary if you have a high power car. Mine is a low bhp car so I have to keep it at high speed else it takes forever to catch up. I learned this watching Initial-D (1000% sure you love this anime just like I do haha)
I sometimes don't do heel-toe when entering tight corners or hairpins so I can shift lock the car into a drift. It's easier to initiate a drift like that instead of transferring weight. Imo it's faster to shift lock hairpins (if you do it right)
Not a fan of those big brake locks, the overtake in the end was clean AF. I dunno if you were nervous, but last 3 corners seemed overly understeery. Aside from that the quality of the video and Royson did a great job on the discipline
@@Hdx64 yes I did get very nervous after that overtake. I get pressured very easily, even if they were just behind me for only 10 seconds. I’m kind of working on that 😅. Those brake locks was because before I switched into the ae86 I was in a gt86, and for a while. I was used to the gts breaking during that race. About the quality of the video, I was on my old pc and it had very limited storage space, so I tried my best to optimize video sizes while trying to keep quality and it didn’t work. But my next race can be lossless if I wanted to!
