Technically the bike route "45th" starts/ends at 45th Ave and Nanaimo St, and the portion to the east along 45th, connecting to Central Park in Burnaby, is "Ridgeway". But the city should really have that segment be both Ridgeway and 45th, which would be less confusing. In any case, that segment is included as the first portion of this video.
It's entirely mixed with traffic on local streets. The Ridgeway segment (at the start) can have too many/too fast cars at certain times, but once you get west of Nanaimo St it gets better. It's relatively flat, compared to other nearby east-west routes.
Continue west to UBC on SW Marine Dr by going south on Balaclava. Continue north or south on Balaclava (via Carnarvon St for northbound).
