Too Long;Didn't Watch - Cut from my long live stream "A first desperate try to explain... dampers!"
Part 2, showcases how dampers influence the handling of the car. We drive the Audi R8 EVO with very different damper settings and we comment the results.
Watch Part 1 to understand why we need dampers. • TL;DW - Dampers Part 1...
You can find a full installation procedures of MoTeC telemetry for Assetto Corsa Competizione, as well as walkthrough to the dedicated template we created with the help of a real race engineer, in our official ACC forums.

Aris, I wanna thank you for all the work you and the rest of the guys at Kunos are doing to improve this game. I also wanna thank you for these videos. Seriously, I'm now able to understand a little bit more about setups and don't just click things randomly. Just got my hall effect mod for my g920 pedals so I'll be putting all I've learned from watching you to test tonight.

Wonderful videos Aris. I only recently got into ACC and I am loving these. And in the future they can also definitely be applied to racing in general. Ευχαριστούμε μεγάλε :)

I just watched your live stream video about dampers. You do go over aggressive, soft and hard settings then you check MoTeC graphs and the only thing that is missing from your live stream is how to setup dampers based on MoTeC data. Can you do a video like that?

Ah.. thx. After watching this and a bunch of other of your videoes, I might get into the 1,24s now.. Thx again.

It's funny seeing the chats attention span is equivalent of a 5 years old with A.D.D while the prof is trying to demonstrate something and has to constantly remind them that he is demonstrating something.

Why/how is his Delta to the thousandth? Was this changed at some point? I only got into ACC at the start of 2022.

hi aris, stupid question: when you choose a value for fast bump the rebound should be much more right?!? i mean if you have 5 on fat bump you should have like 6 or 7 on the fast rebound?!?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 года назад
For fast rebound, generally yes. Not always like this, but usually yes. As you have probably correctly understand, fast dampers are for bumps and kerbs so generally you want the suspension to absorb soft (bump) and control the extension stiff (rebound).

Around the 15 min mark you mention about how when the car slides, it keeps sliding. And at this point the dampers are too low. Which dampers have the most effect on that? Fr/Rr or both? I experience that problem with the 488 Aggressive setup on some tracks and am trying to get rid of the "uncatchable" rear end slide.

The important thing is to learn and use the knowledge to train better and get better and have more fun doing it.

Aris: completly screws up his damper setup and laps at 1:25........ Me: sturggles to go below 1:27 with a supposedly good damper setup (aggressive preset)....... 😜😜

Was the floor of the car scratching the tarmac with the stiffer setup?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 года назад
No, except of course at the exit of T1 when you almost always scrap. I was referring to the sound of the body and suspension. In ACC when the suspensions get hard hits (not necessarily long movements, but hard), they generate sounds from vibrations, as in the real cars. If you pay attention you can hear such sounds and use them as feedback, since we miss g forces.

If you have hard springs do you have to have hard dampers?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 года назад
Generally yes. But it's also true that in those cars you can have softer springs with harder dampers. Almost never use hard springs with very soft dampers. Keep also in mind that each click of the dampers is still a valid curve, so it's not like you shouldn't ever use damper at minimum or maximum. Occasionally it might work.

@@ArisDrives I will add for IRL purposes that often dampers will have inadequate adjustment efficiency near the ends and perhaps effects like increased hysteresis in most kits. If you can, you should revalve your unit so that your common settings are in the middle of adjustment. I assume these damping setup clicks in GT cars are unadjustable dampers being swapped out between each other (?), so it might not matter even IRL.

Hey Aria that’s the ps4 DD1 wheel right? Do you all of fanetec suggested settings, wheel and in game? Do you have your settings posted somewhere. Are they accurate to what you would say a gt3 car feels like? I bumped up to like 80 percent on ffb and that was after a while at 83. I just assume the wheel is pretty heavy in those terms. But after 3days solid of playing (had some days off) my wrist are a little tired lol not to mention my thumbs and the blisters I have.
@RISCy27
@RISCy27 3 года назад
Hi Tyler! Aris did a video that helped a ton with feel (I am using a DD2). he recommended turning the gain to 30-40 ingame + a little road effects if you like it. On the wheel set the force to 60-70 according to your liking, rest as recommended on the fanatec forum with the exception of natural damper. He said 50... I liked it best on 30, but the gain settings in game and on the wheel really did the trick for me.
