I always thought it was so funny how sometimes she would talk about "how weird it must be to have a husband around at all times." She mentioned that several times throughout the show. Uh, hi Robyn... You were a monogamist before you entered the Brown family...give me a break.

Why sad? Their moms don’t have to be treated like shit by him anymore.

But if you stay in Mary's safety zone, do you really learn anything new she couldn't disclose what church they were in. Mary likes to market herself as a strong woman But she cannot have a conversation.

@@Justwastingtimel The way she asked questions, though, got more out of her. Meri can say whatever she wants about herself. We know the truth, and so did the interviewer, and that is why she talked to her like she did. Meri MIGHT be stronger than she used to be, but we all know that doesn't mean she is what most of us would consider strong. Which is what the interviewer seemed to pick up on! Baby steps and relationship-building came out of this interview! Chess, not checkers, sometimes gets you what you need in the long run. Give Meri time. She was more open here than I have seen on ANY tell-all!

I did not feel that Meri was being cagey! Everyone deserves to keep some things private.

Meri has ALWAYS been cagey. It’s frustrating and annoying.

Mary just said that they did the show because they didn't believe in the other order that messed around with children. Everyone is not the same

Meri has a choice, everyone who follows the show knows it is the AUB, she is under no obligation to name it out loud, her choice. I agree…she has family still in the church. I guess I don’t understand why she would be consider lying by not naming it.

It might also be the automatic ingrained training of mormonism, everyone else outside the principle are not to be trusted.

That's ok. They still have a child together. TBH I feel that most divorced couples should still have each others backs. They were all consenting adults. Kody might be, well - Kody. But he didn't force anybody to be with him.

Thanks. But I think there were several women that Christine blocked, not just the teenager. Christine was very Disney princess like, very ill-suited to poly marriage. She deliberately wanted to be a 3rd wife because she thought she’d be the last. So she was opposed to absolutely anyone joining, which is understandable I guess.

Polygamy is illegal in Utah. It’s the only state where that is the case. Bigamy is illegal in the entire US but Utah has much stricter laws

@@montanagirl3835 I lived within 3 miles of aub head quarters in bluffdale. I personally know polygamists. My daughter had a polygamist midwife. My other child dated someone who was a child of polygamy. It’s not prosecuted. PERIOD!!

There’s been empirical studies about the cumulative social effect of this show. It’s actually studied in some film sociology courses alongside the show Will and Grace for homosexuality. It’s about how humanizing a people in entertainment can have a snowball effect not just on public opinion but on things like prosecutorial policy. But make no mistake, Utah was not a safe place for polygamists up until the last decade or so.

I wish she didn’t take the BS bait about adopting the kids and said no! to divorce. Tell Kody if he wants a divorce he’d have to persue it. But that’s water under the bridge. Bet things would be a lot different

I do not agree with you. The interview was not good! Where were the questions (all of us who actually watch the series somewhere?) She should have done her homework better! To name a few examples, Robyn's house? how come she got the most expensive one? Why didn't she ask about it? How come Robyn had a nanny? Does Robyn have a job? has she ever had a job? Why didn't she ask about Christine's house? Merri gave a lot of money to finance that loan. Has Christine given her the money back? will she ever do that?

She isn’t being dishonest…everyone that follows the show knows the name of their church…rather for some former church…perhaps all of them. Her choice not to name it, she probably has a reason.

It was weird for her to say, “does it have a name?” It is widely know that they belong to the AUB, when the show started, but as time went on the religion took a back seat in the show. I had stated that… perhaps she still has family in the AUB, I don’t know if that is why she said that, or if…the religion morphed into Kody’s take on the AUB beliefs. He seems to make up so much stuff. Is it possible Meri really feels like they had moved so far away from the religion, they began the family with, that now she doesn’t know what to call it? It seems the family will say a lot of things to protect the facade of what they want the show to be. None of them want to leave the show, or they would have done so when they left the family. Of course, it could have something to do with TLC, they all want the income the show brings in, as well as TLC, wanting the revenue…as well. They don’t want to contradict what they present on the show. I don’t believe many of them are still that strong connected to the AUB. Janelle, seems to like the idea of polygamy. It works well for her, however I doubt she ever lives with sister wives again. Just my thoughts. I, of course, could be totally off the track here!

I dont believe she divorced kody willing. Mary had no choice remember he melted done Mary's wedding ring when Robyn came into the family .Kody said he didn't want Mary to have power over him

I’m sorry that Meri laughing and expressing joy bothers you so much. That is the literally the concept behind “Fridays With Friends.” (Or what others might call Fright Night Girls, etc.) It’s about gathering with your besties, laughing and having a good time.

In.a way it didn't because.thry made their own rules as they went along. The church didn't want them to do the show and that was the beginning of the end of the church. When they stopped wearing the church undergarments that was another split. The show took baby steps so it was not as noticeable.

Yeah, nice how she never brought it up around the rest of the family. In fact, she's never said anything about it until now.All the other wives and even cody said that it was christine that took care of the kids primarily.

They worked opposite shifts and Christine worked nights. Christine stated her then 10 yr old put the rest of her kids to bed. Horrible that the other adults didn’t take on that task and put it on a 4th grader.

Meri said it on the show. She worked part time in Lehi and helped when she wasn't working.

I do remember in season one they mentioned her work schedule allowing her to help with the kids.

I hope instead of pursuing “the one”..that she learns to appreciate and love herself..become independent..and recognize her power and joy as a single woman. And then, just maybe..she might not seek “the one” because she will recognize that she is complete on her own. Not everyone needs a man.

It will change her if she’s open to it. She’s been so sheltered. I know she thinks she’s worldly now, but….

Meri was & can still be very, very prickly....even with her friend Jen. She was terrible to Janelle & Christine & their children at times. Janelle left the family for a couple of years because of her cruelty....Christine & 3 of the older children want nothing to do with her. Robyn pretended, but didn't have much to do with her either. The friends she chooses are much younger than her....Jen, Robyn....she, I think, has a need to overcontrol. With Jen, it works. With Robyn...she's a controller too, so they're not really close. When I see a prickly controller, I run the other way...❤

I always was against Robyn getting more land when she hasn’t worked an actual job since the very beginning. Yes she has a lot of children but biologically they weren’t his. Also when he said he wanted his own land, besides their homes, and he was getting the land next to the lake because Mary would be mean and not want the kids to use it. At the end of the day Robyn and Cody would get more than half. When Christine left he told Mary she would not get Christine’s land just because he said so. At that point I wanted her to stand up for herself and say I have invested such and such and I should have a say. Even Janelle and Christine said it wasn’t fair. Because the money used for Christine’s home was all of their money not Cody’s or Robyn’s. Mary always worked and she always got less and less. When Cody said something about her not needing a big home because it was just her like he had every right to her money. We all saw how she was treated by him and he bad mouthed her every chance he had. I wanted her to open her eyes and see that she didn’t need him, and her wanting to be there was just the fear of being alone and what others would say. Robyn has never been her friend. Everyone said mean things about her, her relationship with Janelle was rocky because duh she was married to her brother. Who wouldn’t be closed and unwelcoming to their ex-SIL who is now sleeping with your husband. A lot of unsettled emotions arose.
