21:00 It's strange but there's kind of an SEM ish feel to that wonderful tone, even though it's an 18dB ladder filter. Maybe it's the different starting waveforms.
Excellent video! Thanks for spotlighting the Modcan A. I still have mine and love it. One tiny correction: IIRC, the Zeroscillators were originally developed in Modcan A format and were later ported to other formats. Regardless, they’re brilliant. I bought three, knowing that the price was going to increase and figured I’d sell one, but I ended up loving them so much that I kept all three!
Aha! very good! - I didn't know the Zerosc was an original A-Series design. It's a superb and very unique VCO. One of the strengths of the A-Series is its interesting VCOs
This is getting better with every new episode. You are really upping your game with the video editing and compositing. Not to mention the quality of the music, patching and general educating. Amazing job, this is my favorite so far, the short movie is outstanding. Hats off Mr Edwards
Lovely stuff! When I have a chance I’m going to try and recreate your Modcanpatch on my little Eurorack collection. I don’t suppose it will sound the same but it will be a fun experiment. Very much looking forward to episode 2. Thank you so much for making these programmes. I’m really enjoying them. I could see you on the Open University in the early 1970s. It would have achieved cult status by now…:)
That was absolutely excellent. The Roland track was fantastic. Loved the short movie too. Recognised a fair few of those sound effects from old tv shows and sci-fi movies. Looking forward to the next one.
Great jam on the Rolands, but those 90s digital synths sometimes take me to an even more interesting place than analogue synths. Quite moving patches on the TG77. PS. Please let us know the laboratory results in part 2!
Worth the wait. You have out performed even yourself. The effort to make this is evident in the richness of the content. Every segment is tantalizing. Your Monitor theme works perfect. Each segment is divided discretely. It is difficult to say which segment I liked the best. A nod to the detail you infused in each part. The sci-fi episode was truly a work of art. The attention to the foley sounds worked perfectly. The color choices supported the story line in a strong way. I was transported to a visceral place and time. The Modcan A is truly a one of a kind. Thank you for sharing the equipment and thought process. Cyndustries deserves respect as does Bruce Duncan. Thank you , thank you , thank you Ben!!
Great work, Ben, I see what you had to go through making this episode. You had to clone yourself for some scenes and take some LSD for dimensional travel and even do some photogrammary. Lovely series. Thank you for amazing 70-80 stylization which we all adore.
You can tell it´s the future, because every line of code fit the screen perfectly. Very satisfying... as an official member of the canadian synthesizer association i said thank you and god bless the king
Fantastic program! Really enjoyed the whole palette of information and unfaltering presentation. Style and substance beyond measure. Loved it! Hyper-scanning for more!
if Tg77 was out now i would be delighted to hear and buy these new wonder sounds of the new black box ! the Roland 70's (sorry again) lovely music.... video editing of 4-5 Benges on the Serge add magic to this paralel univers.... i was not so much into Serge as the patch was growing until sundenly it all made sens when the Emu got into play .... that bucket brigade panasonic is lovely.... todays patch's fascinating on this incredible frankenstein canadian Modcan ! .. i then fell into dreaming in the univers of the movie with those sounds and music ... it draws imagination out of you , very inspiring , have no idea how you do this retro futuristic graphic video... congrats on this huge creativity work ! loved it ...
Enjoyed this. Good to see the system 100, sh5 , jp4, and mc4(a or b) in action. Itis a lovely, timely reminder that my full system 100 set needs firing up a bit more. The video has a warm, retro-futurist feel, with greatl sonics to match. 👍
I am a little worried about cross contamination because you used the same tweezers for each lichen specimen 😊 loved the whole show! Thanks for coming back 👏🏼
Hey Benge, I love your 1970s, Open University \ How \ Tomorrows World style of presentation, I just don't believe that you're old enough to remember it yourself 🤜 Please keep up the informal, yet informative, good work!
@@memetunestudio funny enough I was just skimming through some Blakes 7 on RU-vid the other day and I'd forgotten how good some of the writing was. I'm going to have to get a box set and binge it! Do you remember the episode of Rockschool where they used Depeche Modes "A Question Of Time" to demonstrate MIDI? I thought it was so cool at the time that this sort of stuff was finally getting on the telly. What you are doing now is exactly how I imagined at the time it ought to be done. Thanks for realizing what was in my own head for all those years!
@memetunestudio wowow- this was incredible from every vector - thank you! Was especially great seeing the cybernetics/cybersynth section - had a blast patching along in VCV rack. Was wondering, have you ever done a full video just on cybernetic patching approaches, or is there any other information on the patch you've created here that you've put out? Would be thrilled to check out if so!
I have to say more. In addition to being interesting and educational, this lives up to the full creative and psychedelic potential of the original Dr. Who series. I LOVE THIS!!!
@@memetunestudio yap..... t's fascinating! Back in the 80s as a kid, we were always excited about the future, especially when it came to electronics, music, and gadgets. The world of synthesis was all about exploring new possibilities, never looking back at the past. However, I can't help but wonder, what happened to that forward-thinking spirit?
