Picked up my Mono/poly about 3 years ago on the grounds of "I don't know if I'll like it but it'll be easy to sell if I don't" and reader, I married it
Are you doing something with the four vco's, like a round robin thing? I loved the Mono/Poly when I had one new. It went with the Polysix. Sold off all that in 1984 when I decided to raise a family. I wish someone had stopped me. The family would've been okay with a few nice synths around. Sometimes I can be a real dip.
I came so close to getting a MonoPoly in the 80s. I'd recently gotten a PolySix fot my 18th Birthday and there was a shop locally in Romford that mainly sold militaria, air guns and fishing tackle that had a MonoPoly for sale (Diversity!) for around 400 quid. I hummed and hah'd too long about it and it sold. Ah well.
Wow this takes me back in time "1975" Identical Synthi 100 except that the CRO is a later one! Where was it and do you know the serial no. ?? Melb was no. 3010. LesC.
Define irony: looking for a demo of the direct successor to this module (the FZ-20M) and finding one where the FZ-10M is being played from the only Sequential Circuits synthesizer that has ever really caught my imagination, the T8.
I esp love how the 2500 has some sorta talent to mimic the transition of materials, ranging from wood to all sorts of metal. Any analog synth with FM and filter FM can do this trick, but not many do it so „naturally“ and effortless like the 2500 (eventually also the EMU modular, as far as I remember). Love the RMX16 on synths, too. Imho a very underrated device nowadays, since most people use it mostly for its Nonlin algo. But I love the Hall and the Room just as much. Very useful on drums and guitars! The magic lies in whow those early digital hatdware reverbs blend with the original source. It’s very different from all modern plugins or hardware reincarnations. Those analog frontends and early ADDAs with analog companding have a very special sound on its own, that is not fully replicated yet by software.
Thanks for your comms, you have special insight. I think what you said about the 2500 mimicking natural sounds is so true. It does wood and metal as you say, also wind, water, plus amazing searing, tearing sounds, so much of it is like nature, but can be exaggerated of course to other-worldly places. A true synthesis monster! (The Emu is similar in its raw power and range. So too the Moog and early Buchla - you have actually put your finger on something about these early systems that seems to be missing from modern modulars. I might make a video about this 👍)
Always excited to see an ARP video from you! So rhythmic, makes me want to dance. The reverb sounds like it compliments the 2500 nicely. A cool to the ear metallic tone.
@@memetunestudio thanks for your reply Benge . Since i'm not well trained with these modulars, i thought i had to go from the 1047 into the FiltAmp because initialy I thought i needed the Amp section of the filtamp, is that correct ? ! ps: I'm on the Mos-Lab Arp2500
I love the little percussive aspects you pull out of the Serge as well as other non "note" sounds, not just on this but on some other Serge tracks such as the one on 20 Systems. Great stuff - more Serge I say!
God I think analogue synths are so cool and I would love to get into it sometime - but how the hell do you get your head around all those buttons and knobs? 😂
