Truly a secular man..... he was very religious and bhakt of Kanchi Shankaracharya, but on taking over as EC on his first day in office he removed all the photos and garlands of Devis and Devatas from his office...true separation of Govt and religion....he has said his loyalty is to the constitution and thus to the NATION and not to any party... he was a straight shooter... Bihar's strong man Lallu used to sweat and shiver in front of him.

Respect to this person.. He is the person who invented NOTA *None of the above* . Had be been there today as an Election Commission the situation would be under control during the Corona Time election. He just emphasized on Eleven commission as an Independent body. During my childhood I saw you where straight and had an audacity to defy the Prime Ministers as well.

If bureaucrats do their job honestly with integrity like him, no political party could dare to harm the nation.

He made a very important and relevant statement about his status in the society. He said very boldly that he was not a part of the government of India and he was answerable only to the President of India at a time when Mr. Rajeeb Gandhi was the Prime Minister. He would not tolerate any interference in his areas of responsibilities. Where are we today? As a matter of fact this position is now selected by the Prime Minister of India from amongst his yes men with the rubber stamp of the President of India on his table. Mr. Seshan made a very relevant statement about the selection of the EC. There should be committee, completely independent of the BJP government, in view of the tendency of the Govt. who are poking their noses in the appointment of the heads of the key institutions assigned an important duty to safeguard the interest of the electorate.

Beacon of Democracy.

Small men r uncharge these days. He is a Giants of his time. Pity men of such calibre are no more.
