To 'B' Or Not To 'B' | Tommy Emmanuel 

Saw Tommy for the first time live on Sunday night (2/14/16). I brought my daughter, my son, and my Father. My dad has always been a huge Chet fan; but recently was diagnosed with the onset symptoms of Alzheimer's. When Tommy played this song, my dad's eyes lit up. At that moment he had no memory issues and it all came back. It's been a while since I've seen him that happy. Thanks to Tommy and his crew for a night I'll never forget.

When this music starts playing, I find myself immediately walking out the front door and skipping down the road with pure joy.

I must've listened to this song over a 100 times, but it still makes me smile everytime i hear it.... Thanks Tommy, You're the BEST!

This guy is such a genius on guitar... that key change is silky smooth to the touch. He is magic.

Tommy made this song so much better with his inspired melody change from the original at 1:48 Listen to the earliest versions of this song, including one by Murial Anderson and you’ll see what I mean. Tommy’s change really spiced up the song in a great way.

I used to think like the others, "Man, I'll never be able to play this." But three years have passed, and I can already write my own songs :) my advice to all the beginners: don't give up! Practice everyday, and one day you'll become a very talented person. God Bless!

The first TE Concert I saw, Tommy played this, around 15 years ago (give or take) , I vividly remember it as I was heavily getting into playing fingerstyle guitar at that time, such a fantastic tune ( thanks Chet!) but Tommy's dynamics on this is just out of this world, I 've been working on it for years, playing through it, very tough! But I love it, thanks, Tommy!!! You are the best!

I have always been a big Leo Kottke fan and had learned about 6 or 7 of his songs. My son talked me into going to see Tommy Emmanuel. I had never heard of him. He played at a very small venue in Louisville, Ky many years ago. Couldn't have been more than 20 people in the whole place so we had front row seats (6 feet away). I was floored by his abilities. He has instruction videos on some of his music at TrueFire.com at a very reason price. I just started learning this piece. Due to arthritis, I can't practice hours on end like I use to but his music sure is inspiring!!!!

Ich habe gestern Tommy in Nürnberg live erlebt. Ein großartiges Konzert, in einer von Anfang an tollen Atmosphäre, dass mit 5 (!) Zugaben endete. Ich muß sagen, irgendwas ist anders, wie vorher, man kann es nicht genau beschreiben. Sehr eindrucksvoll: Tommy mit 3 Gitarren und auf der anderen Seite 860 begeisterte Zuhörer. Toll finde ich vor allem seine Arrangements, bei denen er komplexe musikalische Parts verschiedener Instrumente auf seiner Gitarre unterbringt und hervorzaubert. Und natürlich seine Musikalität, rhythmische Begabung und harmonische Vorstellungskraft.

I've seen tommy live yesterday in my hometown (finally), it was not only an absolute musical bliss but also very entertaining from start to finish. He played his heart out for 2 and a half hours without a break in super hot and humid temperature. Superb performance and fantastic man. If you ever get a chance to visit one of his concerts, don't hesitate, you will not regret it. :)

As I’m learning to perfect my own cover of this tune at the moment, I’m starting to notice how ridiculously loose, yet perfectly smooth his strumming patterns get in between transitions. At 1:07 his thumbs swings loose on the bass back and forth to make an almost buzzing sound all the way through. He makes changing tempo look so easy 😂
