Everyone is always talking about master of puppets, fade to black, ride the lightning, one or even tracks from the black album. But this song truly is Metallica´s best work ever. And that all thanks to Cliff. At 4:25 the magic starts.
I Have purchased this cd several times well before Internet was even around I've had to make several purchases due to party thieves swiping my cd's !!! Metallica is my in my blood veins and drive of live led to the fullest!! and always will be .. Props !!! at 42 years of age I am so very glad to have this band in my life and would greatly love to be acknowledged as a faithful fan !!! thank you!!! Kudos!!! get back to business guys pioneering the old school direction your die hard old schools 'so are CRAAAAAAVING!!!!
@jnorrisish This is easily one of the most emotionally powerful songs ever. By the mid acoustic part, I;m completely absorbed by the genius of this band.
@mozleyman That's actually The Outlaw Torn that your thinking of. The end of it was cut from the album Load because it was so long. It's not this song, but this song also cut the end off for time so it scares the shit out of you when it cuts to Dyers Eve.
as far as I know theese lyrics are from a poem (I dont' remember right now who wrote it or when). Cliff wrote the main riff the the beging-ending and the melodic Interlude. James did the singng and the solos. Lars and Kirk did what usualy lars and kirk do...
When i heard this I was like :O..then I grew in instant mustache and I was like this :[O..then I shaved it off and my eye got a growth and i was like this ;O...awesome song.
@shauncFs some of metallicas introers are actually parts of other classical songs that were classical from differetn places.you can hear some of metallica songs are inspired by orchestral compositions
Nice intro message.. Bought this CD like 30 years ago, don't blame us, music is now pirated by Google in exchange for your persona, as is the entire internet :)
@ilikehockey13 CORRECTION! Just thousands. The first Megadeth album, with all the money that goes to the band, the equipment, and the actual recording combined was only $8,000.
ok for those of u who dont know it this isnt metallica's thrid instrumental its their 4th anestheia pulling teeth is the first instrumental ppl dont consider it one but it is and instrumental is done without vocals and apt had no vocals in it
@Pinion512 ok maybe that's true for some bands and bands that are really big but there are still a lot of them, that make most of the money touring, especially now, since the music industry has changed so much and it's less about albums and more about singles. That's what I was taught, in a two year music business, program. I will admit most of my experience in the music industry, is from the hip hop world, where this is true. Especially underground artist, who make most of their money over seas.
@Whoamazing83 Metallica released two other instrumentals that were good: Call of Cthulhu and Orion. As far as that there aren't any other metal instrumentals. Death had a song called Voice of the Soul I think off of Sound of Perservearance and then I think they had another one on human. Though in bands that I recommend, let me go ahead and say: Death, Mastodon, Judas Priest, Tool, and Dark Angel.
@ilikehockey13 Well, nowadays, the money involved is probably around the $40,000- $80,000 for a band as big as Metallica. Remember, the money they make is solely out of recording and touring. Not the actual sales of the records.
“When a man lies, he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?” thats the hidden message
@JRebel206 Duh, 20 year olds vs. 50 year olds. Who do you think would have more energy? Also if that could happen, they could probably make even St.Anger sound amazing. It would be cool to hear All Nightmare Long from 80's Metallica, but unless a time machine is made it will never happen. Probably.
this song is from when metallica was real and in the hearts of those who truly loved hard metal..some might remember the real matallica before they became sellouts, like they said they never would till this album made em rich, they were the best till they did this album.it makes you wonder if they never became rich woud their music still be as good.everything after this album sucks........
@giorgio797 dude i swear i thought the exact same thing when i saw the intro about pirating. i been playing guitar 5 years and i play gigs and open mics for my own satisfaction of sharing music...thats why everyone starts playing. cuz if u start only for the money ur music becomes soulless anyway. and if ur already sharing ur music with millions money shouldnt be a problem.
@rushxanthem im with you on this one 2 if lars did not sue metallica would not be here because they would have ran out of cash by now. think about it people they have family's to support.
i really like about piracy stuff you said in the beginning it's really moving, but i download le song after all (can't help myself it's frickin aweeesomeee) i know sue me......sad but true.
@JRebel206 so you think that the 10's of millions some bands make a year is from concerts? That's the insane part. Having done some contracting work with venues I know that bands are not getting rich from putting on shows. they play shows as "advertisement" for cd's. Why do you think most bands (most, not all) do not tour until they have new music out or coming out?
@mykawirocks during the time of this album all they cared about was there music and then they wanted to go to commercial metal and released the black album. but dude just imagine if they came out with another album like justice instead how bigger theyd probably be?
Why would anyone pirate Metallica, when they can just go the store and pay a mere twenty or thirty dollars for an album? Or when in town, as they often are, one can be honored to hand over a good 150-200 dollars to see them live. It's money well spent!
amazing song but this is the 4th instrumental because 1st ot was Anasthesia(pulling teeth) a instrumental with only bass and drums. and then call of ktulu and orion and then To Live is To Die #4
@metalXking why do people think kirk would have died...cliff tried to save himself by going out the window, he did not just magicaly fall out...i think people should really think about that R.I.P. cliff burton
One of the ways, Metallica came up, was by people making dubs of thier cassettes and passing them to thier friends. That's how I first heard them and don't worry, Mettalica got their money's worth from me, with merchandise, concert tickets, and cd purchases. Some of thier early cd's twice because they had been lost or damaged. Well until the Black album, then they sucked. If old school Metallica, time traveled to the future, they would beat the hell out of their future selfs.
